    From three.ie

Should go through before midday today, if not call them. I had the issues porting away from 3 after allowing the store to set up the port for me. I waited and then called customer care. There was no record of any port request on my account. The csr to be fair to him got it sorted very quickly and I was ported out within a couple of hours.

You were correct,it went through at 11.00am yesterday!

Got through this morning after 7 mins, they read out the usual about roaming etc. I said I wasn't accepting that. They asked me had I another option that i would like. I said the 30 day sim, all texts/calls/data, and similarly when roaming, but with 2gb data.... No problem. From next bill date I would be switched. Is this too easy!!!! That's not like three.

Cancelled today. Waiting for 40 minutes, then a nice straightforward 5 minute chat to a guy and it was done.
Contract ends April 12 and I'll pop onto Prepay then. Cheers to the OP for the heads-up!! Saved me six months of paying over the odds :)

Cancelled a contract I had with them that I no longer use (mobile broadband). Spoke to a chap who informed me they'd "waive" cancellation charges.

I told him they were waiving SFA and only doing what they were obliged to do.

I did ask them if people who cancel will be black listed from bill pay in the future. He was unsure but said likely not, but not to quote him.....

Not to quote him on a recorded phone line :)

Does anyone know how it works if you opted for the 30 day sim only but a few days later change your mind and want to move totally to Virgin?

I was in the exact same boat. Had to contact 3 again and give my 30 days notice. I've ordered a SIM from Virgin, and will port my number across in the next week or two.

Nothing to stop you doing that but if you don't give three the required 30 day notice before you port and then wait the 30 days until you port you will pay for the 30 days or the time remaining since you gave notice that you will be porting.

    Hi all,

Just a warning - I cancelled my three contract 2 weeks ago and switched to sim only, keeping my phone and reducing my bill by €25 a month. I just logged on to my account and saw that my bill that issued today was still on the old plan and charging me the old amount. Contacted the reps on the three website chat and was told that they have a record of my request but it was not put through!!! Still chatting to them and disputing the charge as I wont be paying the old amount when they have acknowleged that I put my request through. Just a warning for everyone to check their bill.

Surely is it not a case that they will charge you for the month that you were already part way through, and that the new charging will come into play from next month?

No, there was no notice required, my new billing period started 13/03/17 and it is this period they have charged me the full amount for.

30days notice from when you tell them. Fact. you are charged the amount you should have been charged for the next 30 days.

Now what happens if your billing month starts between that 30 days, you will be charged the full amount again, and then credited back the days that were not used.

Leave it go a while and you should see all going well, you are charged only for 30 days after you told them.

If you were told different on the phone, then it isn't true.

P.s - this is normal for all networks

Everyone has to give 30 days notice. You can port out immediately but you'll be charged for the 30 days.

even 30 days notice if I cancelled the day before they rose the rates ?

Rang at 9.02am, answered within 30 seconds, switched to sim only, off phone in 2 minutes, got text confirming change at 9.45am.

€55 bill now €30 from mid April :)

My bill has been credited with the overcharge. New rate is now in effect. What I was told on the phone was correct.

    I still haven't received any notice :-(

It doesn't look like they increased the Three Open plan

Read back plenty of people have done that. Doesn't anyone bother reading even a couple of pages of a thread before posting a question that has been answered many many times?

Thats not a deposit, its part of the price you are paying for the phone.

Plenty of people getting high value phones have to pay a €200 deposit which is refunded as a credit to their account after 6 months, so how do you know this isn't a deposit?

Back off and take you attitude out on somebody who might deserve it, just trying to help. (notice you have been giving out above also, your 3 cents not required here thanks)

Bloody hell. 15 minutes onto chat already and they're only now starting the switching process. So annoying! Clearly has at least two if not three different customers on chat since they sent me someone elses reply too

MY3 now shows my updated plan as SIM only but the contract date is still 2019. Not sure what the status is now.

Hi, I got through yesterday immediately, after long waits other days. I switched to €30 a month sim only. Forgot to ask about unlocking the phone. There is another forum on this - 3: Awful customer service.
