Struck me as slightly ironic that Paul Kimmage was giving out about the lack of coverage of Dan Martin, since he was the one who told us all that we couldn't believe in cycling in the first place.

But this is exactly it. I'm paraphrasing but I've heard him describe the feeling modern cycling gives him as 'sick'. Based on the comments here I assumed Joe and Paul miraculously avoided the topic of doping but no, it was right there, front and centre again. As were concussions like usual. When they vary the topic it's one of the best radio shows around and I have no idea why they are getting rid of it.

Kimmage had a good bounce off Tubridy and the all encompassing nature of hype around rugby. Good fun.

I did enjoy that bit alright. He encapsulated all of my feelings when I see Tubridy interviewing any sportsperson.

They are getting rid of the paper slot?

To make room for a new Ivan Yates show.

    That's a disappointment.

Crazy but true. Newstalk has more than enough politics shows.

As much as I like Yates, the first hour of Off the Ball on a Sunday is the only bit of radio on a Sunday I purposely tune in for, the rest of the show is yawn inducing monotony.

The live (& exclusive!) premier league games are an auto switch off.

If my team is playing, I'll probably find a way to watch it. If my team isn't playing, I definitely don't want to hear about it.

Paper review is miles better than, say, Everton Vs Stoke on the wireless.

I don't live in Ireland, and it's the only piece of live Irish radio I ever tune in to.

There are when McEntyre is commentating, he's chronic to listen to. Loses the head altogether at the slightest half chance. Have lost interest in off the ball at this stage, rugby being analysed to death, the weekly w%nkfest over Kimmage whether he's in studio or not..switched off on Sundays lately..

I think McIntyre is a superb commentator whether it be in soccer, rugby or GAA. He's always well prepared and conveys plenty of enthusiasm. He's gotten work from TV3, Eir, Sky and BT so he must be doing something right.

Yeah warmed to him. Busy boy. Just that voice is a bit....ahhh

Still not enough to switch off

Certainly is very prepared. Impressed with his sideline discussion after the Dublin v Cork hurling game

Who is the guest football pundit who appears sometimes, kind of a "posh" Dublin accent? Has an unbearable habit of saying "ehhhhhhhh" and "uhmmmmmmm" before every sentence.

Dion Fanning. Daddy (Aengus) was editor of Sindo.

Hmmmm, not him, nor Dan McDonnel. This guy is very annoying. Lots of stuttering. He doesn't appear too regularly thank god!

I really do because it's not Miguel Delaney either :D!

This guy's use of "ehhhhh-uuuhhmmmm" before every sentence should be the biggest clue :D

YES! Good man! What a terrible radio presenter. Are people not trained to refrain from "ehhhs" or "uhmmms" when on radio?

Use of ehhhh's and uuuhmmmmmm's didn't narrow it down. It's sadly very common.

Damo Duff was a great, great man for that.

I think Ger is getting more self indulgent. He seriously needs a boss, to stop him trying to use interviews as an opportunity to make him look intellectual.

It's a fair achievement that Graham Hunter's arrogance, conceit and irritability comes through crystal clear every time on such a bad phone line.
