I think it means that you can play Golden Axe safe in the knowledge that your copy of Streets of Rage won't get jealous.

Damn you Smash, damn you and your damn eyes!!!

By which I of course mean, there is something wrong with you!

If I had to own just one console each gen, even I'm not sure if that console is going to be a Nintendo console....

I look at the backlog I'm leaving behind on the WiiU, and in turn the backlogs on the 3DS, Wii, DS, Gamecube, N64... not to mention the near triple digits percentage of Steam games I've never even installed... I shudder to think what would happen if I grabbed a PS3 or 4...

Either way though, I share the space under the telly with the rest of the family. I know I come across as a strong and noble authoritarian, but even I am powerless against the Coven...

    Really silly questions

Are there any playable demos that can be downloaded.

Also how do I change ship regions. I want to get a puzzle game for those short flights (rather than stop / start Zelda).

Snipperclips demo out at the moment, it's good fun but only really shines in multiplayer imo.

    Try follow this link.

As mentioned there's a Snipperclips demo in Europe. I know there's a demo of Dragon Quest Heroes 1&2 on the Japanese eShop because I seen the comparison videos(PS4 and Switch) that Western websites downloaded. As for others I'd have to check.

Edit: There's also Puyo Puyo Tetris mentioned in the above link.

Thought Polygamers would be ones who read Polygon.

As for the statement that indies cost more because Switch is seen as both portable and home, doesn't explain how Sony have cross buy on their 3 consoles

    No joy unfortunately. :(

Are you based in Dublin? I have one reserved in Argos but I've decided to just get Zelda for the Wii U instead.

I'm sick of being made to feel like there's something wrong with me for owning 1 console per generation. So I refer to myself and people like me as "mono-game-ous" which, when you say it out loud, suggests that I'm in a stable, single partner, single gender relationship, and the rest of you are some kind of degenerate harem-hopping disease ridden backwards hedonists. And I was willing to rethink my position but your reaction was so 1800s...

Saying there's only poly and mono gamers is forgetting about trans, bi and other gamers. Thats so typical of a patriarchal cis-monogamer

I'm not saying they're not out there, or that I don't recognise them. Only that god spits on them and that every moment they canker with their presence on this glorious earth they are stealing air that could have been breathed by innocent babies .

Just so we're clear, I'm a full orthodox mono. I know it's tempting to class him as Questioning but Sligeach, stop me if I'm wrong, would be catholic mono (as evidenced by the way his guilt keeps his love and hate of the console in balance). Pretty sure Ciderman is a Pan. Dark-Knight is Born Again, and will continue to be reborn for as long as there are people for him to sell his WiiU to or buy another from. There are plenty on here who think they're Bi, but it doesn't count if you're nintendo-and-something-else. You don't get to march in the parade!

But how you game in your own home is your business. The important thing is that we are not installing a new toilet for those weirdos who only play PS4 VR and not regular PS4. It's sick!

For anyone wondering about screen protectors, I got the amFilm glass ones off of Amazon. They arrived today and I put one on with very little hassle except for one small bubble that was easily swatted away. Because of the heat of the dock I'll leave it out for a day or so and leave it settle. The touch sensitivity is still perfect on it and has lost pretty much none.

These are the ones, they seem to be going in and out of stock and despite the later date it shows for being in stock, I got mine much earlier.

Interesting how they're blaming it on the Switch launch, which launched on the 3/3/17... and where on the graph 3/3/17 is. Trying to grab headlines, nothing more.

Sonic Mania - Green Hill Zone Act 2 Raw Gameplay

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBLUSXIqsmQ

A release date still hasn't been announced yet though. Here's an image of the first boss.
    C6kc-aPU8AEhzmj.jpg:small
"Green Hill Zone Act 2 presents an all-new area exclusive to Sonic Mania, expanding upon the tropical setting of Act 1, now with new mechanics, obstacles, and secrets to uncover. You like fire, right? Now you can use it to burn log bridges and collect rings and power-ups! Green Hill Zone Act 2’s boss is also notably different from the original, but we won’t be spoiling that yet.

Also revealed today is the first in a series of new bosses, called the “Hard-Boiled Heavies”. These unique foes are part of Eggman’s new arsenal, each equipped with special skills designed to make a blue hedgehog’s life much harder.

The first of these, “Heavy Gunner”, will appear at the end of the Hollywood-inspired Studiopolis Act 1, and is a large, decorated robot who can take to the sky with his helicopter. Heavy Gunner is armed with a powerful rocket launcher that he uses to discourage “speeding”. (Sources from Studiopolis confirm this method is, generally, highly effective.)"

    SEGA PR.

With Mario Kart 8 Deluxe coming out next month, I'm just wondering if we'll see more Wii U ports. Genuinely not trying to be contentious here, just curiousg would people here be happy with that? Personally, Super Mario Maker Deluxe would be perfect for me on the Switch.

    Nope.

Want cube games. That's the ticket.

Wii U ports just make sense, despite some peoples reservations about them. Some great games were lost on a lot of people due to questionable use of hardware and lack of presence in the market for them to get the recognition they deserve imo. The big added feature of portability is a big plus for reviving them for the Switch. The prices etc will be the thing of course that will divide if too high. People who have them can already play them so releasing them on the Switch is no detraction from that imo. Games like Tropical Freeze or Wonderful 101 (probably doubtful) would be purchases for me certainly.

Binged on Zelda there for hours. The game is a damn masterpiece.

On Wii U and Cube ports I'm not fussed but I have both systems and the games so I guess that's why, in saying that Windwaker hd was incredibly good, i guess I'd like to see Star fox zero without the motion controls, Pokken Tournament and paper Mario thousand year door remaster.

No more heroes in hd could be nice too.

Super Mario Sunshine HD, a compilation of both Luigi's mansion games, the inevitable Resident Evil 4 port, WaveRace, 1080° Snowboarding, a new proper Pilotwings game, some obscure little franchise called FZero, a new series of Metroid games, a new Super Monkey Ball, and for little old me, a Raiden retrospective and a Cave and Capcom series of shooters (Ibara and Progear please!), You could just use the Switch vertically, perfect for shmups!

So who pissed in your cornflakes? Or was it a case of hopes dashed because someone left an empty biscuit packet in the cupboard? :D

**** which people though? The ones who had a good look at that train, saw the price of the ticket, saw the best location it was ever going to visit was actually available on the older model train with a much, much cheaper ticket price. Saw that a lot of the other locations it will soon visit have cheaper tickets elsewhere (as long as you're not silly enough to put all your gaming eggs into the Nintendo basket). **** those people? Nah, hats off those smart folk.

Anyway, I'm glad they'll port some games to the Switch - folks who never owned a Wii-U need to play them, they're brilliant. It'll also help sell the console and hopefully give it a longer shelf life than it's predecessor. Same goes for porting older games - the more games the better.

Personally I'd prefer a new F-Zero and Metroid Prime (they would make the Switch express a much more attractive train ride for me) but I've no real issue with them porting/re-releasing older games, I'm not being forced to buy them. They have such a stunning back catalogue it's a no brainer for them to keep milking it.

Hopefully that might entice some of the third parties, or it may be difficult to keep up the momentum! I can see Christmas being big for the Switch though, a few nice bundles and lots of very good games out by then.

Speaking of Wii U ports, it looks like Lego City Undercover will be a massive improvement on Switch. Drastically improved load times and two player co-op. There will be updated visuals and new characters to unlock too.

I have most of the best games on the WII U and I would be delighted if they were all brought out on the Switch - Any gamers with kids know how great it is to be able to game on a powerful portable gaming machine that makes the transition from TV to portable console appear seemless - bring out the old and the new.

I have every generation console from Sega, Nintendo and Playstation - I can honestly say that this is my favourite console since I got my Megadrive in 1990 - can't wait for Streetfighter 2, Sonic and of course all the new games that have that Nintendo magic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

You're not being forced to buy ports, no, but if the Switch gets predominantly WiiU ports because "people need to play these games" (and because its quick and cheap to do) then where does that leave WiiU owners with Switches? 2 big releases a year and some overpriced indies? As I said, I recognize that my opinion makes for bad business but I'm selfishly motivated. I want new games and plenty of them, not a shelf full of games I already own repackaged for the 'smart' people who missed them the first time around. I know it won't happen, not until the wave of ports breaks, and I know the wave of ports facilitates that dream of a well stocked new game shelf. But the heart wants what the heart wants. Which is for Non-wiiu owners to burn in the hell of not playing Mariokart 8, Smash U or the first Splatoon

Loving Zelda so far, regret not giving Bomberman more of a chance I'll buy in back again once I do everything in Zelda which may take a few weeks.

I am gonna buy I am Setsuna in the next week or so off the store rather than waiting for a cart release over here which I can't see happening and then I'll see about getting Dragon Quest on import.
