Why do Nintendo Switch games cost more?
Nintendo Switch indies may end up costing more than their Xbox One, PS4 or PC ports. Here's why I think this is happening

    http://www.tweaktown.com/news/56621/nintendo-switch-games-cost-more/index.html

And it's not just indie games like Rive that are overcharging. Nintendo are at it with 1, 2 Switch, Konami with Super Bomberman R, Capcom and Sega coming down the road with SF2 and Puyo Puyo Tetris respectively.

    I'm reminded of Quagmire's line:

Seems guaranteed by that answer, hopefully it isn't locked behind the subscription service. Surely we'll have a Nintendo Direct before the month is out?
Really? Sounded like a disappointing masterclass in non-commital answering, the very opposite of a guarantee. Why give the interview if he doesn't have anything to say? He says nothing concrete. If replace any of the questions with "is this likely to make my penis fall off?" it is far from reassuring, worse because we're a week in, €400 lighter and they still won't talk to us like adults, or even kids 8+!

Yeah, I think McMillen's spoken about how he starts you as an absolute pipsqueak so you'll be motivated to experiment with Isaac's often vaguely described items (and yet, not nearly as bad as the original's straight up cryptic tags). You're given the bare minimum to get by, with the hope you'll go "**** it, anything is better than this" and that's how you end up running something rotten but surprisingly effective like No. 2 or Bob's Brain or holy grails like Brim, Knife and whanot. I think Cursed Eye is the only categorically trash item (or it was when I was still playing) and they compounded this by adding it to the red chest pool in AB, so what was once semi-guaranteed decent items, like cat pieces, on a "Curse of the Blind" run could now straight up savage your build and I've just gone on another accidental Isaac rant. Excuse me.

I don't want to gouge people but I feel after spending 400 last week it's a fair price....just have no time to play it in the immediate future :(
I think it is, but people on adverts will chance their arms with dumb lowball offers, in my experience.

Prices are actually cheaper than RRP prices for games on the PS4 and Xbox One. Indie games... there really is no excuse for that unless Nintendo are charging higher licensing fees. Nintendo said indie devs can charge what they want though.

As for the RRP prices in shops, this happens with all console launches. Consoles launches, games come out at RRP (or above if you are gamestop). They stay this way until the user base grows (or stay that way if it doesn't ala the WiiU). Once it hits a critical mass the prices online and in shops start to drop below RRP as stores can buy more stock and get bigger discounts on larger orders and pass that on to the consumer.

Managed to pick up a Neon console today with no issue, but both the GameStop and Argos in my town are out of Zelda, so I've got nothing to play on it! :-(

Also, question - as someone who has never ever needed or used a screen protector on any phone I've had, I'd prefer not to have to bother with one for the Switch. How essential are they in peoples opinions? Are scratches from the dock pretty much a certainty?

The one thing that is bugging me now is that I wish all my old Nintendo games were playable on the Switch.

It is so handy having the handheld option and I can't help but wish that all my Wii U games in particular were compatible. I've no intentions of ever getting rid of the Wii U but having everything on one device would be amazing.

You can just download Zelda from the e-shop, its well under the internal memories total capacity.

As far as a screen protector it depends on how much your gonna be using it outside the dock or bringing out of the house.

I intend to carry it around alot and mainly use it as a handheld, ill be getting a case and am waiting for the tempered glass protectors on amazon which arent available till march 26th.

If your just keeping it in the house but removing it in and out of the dock alot id suggest finding or making some kind of soft sleeve that you can put in the dock that will be between the screen and front part that seems to be whats scratching ppls screens, until you have that you just need to be very careful with it.

The idea that Switch games should somehow cost more because you're getting 2 for 1 because it's a home console you can take on the go needs to be nipped in the bud. Do PC games cost more because they support multiple resolutions and levels of detail? Feck no. I know this guy is just a pundit, and nothing he says is Gospel - not even Infancy Gospel. But if words to that effect come out of a developers mouth, that mouth needs to be sewn shut with a grenade inside. Metaphorically speaking. Violence solves nothing, kids! Unless you're Ryu Hayabusa!

While I can see, from the other side, some sense to the theories they don't really hold water if you look at history. Specifically, look at Mass Effect on Wii U. It's not an indie title, but it hits a lot of the same marks as many indie titles on switch : It was available elsewhere first, most Polygamers already own it, the Nintendised offering is at best equivalent and at worst below what's being offered elsewhere and the price is higher. And it sold like a case of herpes on it's best before date.

This is a new market. Nintendo owns 100% of that market, give or take. It's all up for grabs. You are not going to earn market share by alienating your audience. You're either selling to people who know you product (so either already own it elsewhere, probably for cheaper, or have never played it but would be familiar with the going rate) or people who don't (so why would they take a chance on you when you're product costs nearly the same as big-name studio title?)

I get that they need to make money, and the market is unknown so they can't set prices with any assurance of breaking even, but entering a market is like getting in a bath. You dip your toe or you go all in. You don't do an EA (stand two feet in the bath, **** in it and then say "The waters dirty, lift me out!"). It's self-defeating. Especially with ports of existing titles, this first round should be about getting market share, getting your software onto every day 1 switch out there, and building from that.

But they don't need to. There is that Nintendo factor. They don't race to the bottom with their game prices, so why should the nIndies? And there will be a paucity of games, so demand should be outstripping supply. So why bother?

A fair percentage of indie games on the PS Store are for multiple platforms - usually PS3 or PS4 or PS Vita with cross buy and cross save enabled on them. If they charged significantly more for cross buy or cross save, I reckon they'd sell next to nothing. It seems like a dodgy way to go about pricing and will put people off buying them on the Switch if they can get them cheaper else where.

PC games can be played on a desktop or a laptop, they don't price there as if it were two separate licenses, nor should they.
The price should be the price, should be the price. None of this nonsense justification for slapping extra penalties onto a game, then whinging that it didn't sell to expectation.

    OK, I made it up.
I'm sick of being made to feel like there's something wrong with me for owning 1 console per generation. So I refer to myself and people like me as "mono-game-ous" which, when you say it out loud, suggests that I'm in a stable, single partner, single gender relationship, and the rest of you are some kind of degenerate harem-hopping disease ridden backwards hedonists. And I was willing to rethink my position but your reaction was so 1800s...

I dunno. Think you can get the Switch and Zelda for €395 and weren't Smyths doing a deal for €390? Well anyway, your Deal saves someone about 5%. For me that wouldn't be great. It's your console though, try it at €375 if you like and reduce if you get no takers.

But, but there is something wrong with you!

By which I of course mean, there is something wrong with you!

If I had to own just one console each gen, even I'm not sure if that console is going to be a Nintendo console....

And, consoles are comparatively cheap, a small investment now gives gaming goodness for years, I paid no more than €200 each for my PS4 and XB1, and the former at least has meant that I've some great games in my collection, some even being played!

I just couldn't limit myself to a single format, that's bizarre, at least for me.
Maybe it works for other people, and good for them, but to be able to play Super Mario 3D World but not be able to play Bloodborne or Dark Souls 3? Not a choice I want to make.

Yeah if it was me I'd spend the extra 15 or so for the sake of being able to return it to a shop if need be.

Sorry for another battery related question.

I charged up the switch fully to 100% last night and turned it off completely.

Turned it on this morning and the battery was at 90%

    Is this normal?
