I am fine do g I am leaning more on the left lower side so this is causing torsion to the joycon which may be leading to the disconnected issues, Zelda is so pretty, have died 10 times from falling off a cliff, reminds me of Assassins Creed, great fun so far.

Ah now don't forget it's the same Nintendo who released a new battery for its own Wii U within the first two years.

And they're worse in the portable zone for new versions, smaller, bigger, shake it all about, etc..

So, you're saying that hardware revisions are a bad thing?
I don't know a console manufacturer that hasn't made a hardware revision, from PSP, PSVita, 360, PSone, PS3, DS, Megadrive, they are in the majority.
Even consoles and systems that appeared to not change got updated mother boards and such.

    That's rough.

Did you get to play 10-2 Switch before you returned it?

So I was pondering getting a switch as my young lad has wrecked my PS4 and controller, and I'm finding it hard to get suitable games that he'd like. done all the free lego demos, but then came across this video on YouTube earlier

Anyone have the issues in the video? Should I hold off.

There are 1 or 2 Fbombs in the video, sorry bout that

In truth you'd probably be better to wait a little while, maybe towards Autumn, before picking it up as the range of games isn't there just yet.
If you fear for your PS4, why not buy a cheap PS3, tons of cheap games to play.

I wouldn't hold off just because of that video, he did similar videos on Xbox One/PS4.

Small chance you get a dodgy unit at launch(like me:(), more often than not it's fine though, I'd buy it if you and the young lad think you'd enjoy it. Buying a couple of months down the line launch games will be possibly cheaper, OS kinks ironed out, more games available etc.

E3 is just over 3 months away too, if you can wait that long, which will reveal a lot of what's happening in regards to the Switch.

out of interest has anyone here which pick up the switch experience any issues with the systems

in that video, that loud piercing noise, My WiiU used to to do that from time to time, used have to plug out the system to fix it.

Thanks Ciderman. Sold my PS3 with loads of games a few months ago. Like the look of switch as it would keeps kids amused in car on long journeys. Was feeling good about it till I saw that video. But I know these videos concentrate the bad stuff

Was wondering how the good people of boards are getting on. Game line up does look a bit small alright

I am loving it myself. The switch to me is the perfect Handheld its extremely comfy to hold. Games look great from what I have aged so far it can only get better I hope.

Lego. City undercover is out next month. It is considered one of the best Lego games.

The line up is only. Going to grow :)

with the internet and everything going viral these days i wouldn't be at all surprised of some of the things in that video are a result of tampering with the device its certainly possible
its all down to people looking for their 10 seconds of fame in the hope of making money off it

now don't get me wrong any mass produced product is going to have a certain amount of faulty units which is normal though can be upsetting to the end user but in the age of YouTube we are always going to see the problems more than the good

people will scream their lungs out when there's an issue
but be living under a rock when its all working

    negativity sells better

from what I've reading the main issue is joycon connection primary the left one.

over the years I have had a GB,GBC,GBA,NDS, DSlite,3DS,N3DS, SNES,N64,NGC,Wii and WiiU and biggest issue I had was the n64 sticks after playing mario party. I will be adding the switch later this year. just didnt see the need to pay 330 for a system just for Zelda when I had a WiiU

I was watching the link on Nintendolife tipped by SLIGEACH_EIRE be interesting to see if the joy con issue is indeed hardware releated.

Very positive article from an indie point of view.

Nintendo will of course bring excellent first party titles. Now we just need the third party big hitters to get fully on board and this system will fly

The pro controller is gorgeous. No idea what the whole HD rumble fiasco is about, haven't onec noticed anything but then again it's only been Zelda, Fast and snipperclips.

It's really really really nice though.

My switch is sitting on top of my ps4, in front of my wiiU, beside my smart TV and the Xbox one and the sky box and an apple TV all running WiFi and I'm not getting any problems with the joycon or the WiFi signal.
I've no dead pixels and no stuttering during Zelda on the TV.
The system works just fine and is very enjoyable. Zelda will easily keep most people entertained till more games come out.
Stop watching negative crap and just buy it!

This is really good to see, I was on the fence about it even with how amazing Zelda looked but then I saw the Indy lineup announcement for 2017 and there's too many games I wanna play on there to not buy it, I already own Stardew on PC but will be getting it again on switch, ive wanted to pick up Binding of isaac afterbirth for a while so will likely grab it on switch now too, same with shovel knight and a host of others

Anyone get the gamestop hardcase with there's? I'm bringing mine back as its about double the size of the switch with joycons attached, it falls around inside like a bag of marbles. Cant be doing any good for the switch.

Why is my Switch having WiFi issues in the dock as opposed to in my hand outside the dock in same spot?

My missus noticed the frame rate drops on Zelda and she wears glasses and mainly games on PS4... :)

I had to take my Switch out from behind my smart TV as I had the joycon desync issue, yet I had to do same with PS4 though so I'm not so worried about that...

You must be the only one to not notice performance drops in Zelda while docked, Digital Foundry have proof see 7:40 mark on this video :

All well and good you having no issues but others including myself obviously are...

I have never had to bring a Nintendo machine back to the shop but I may have to with Switch and that is very disappointing...

Zelda is probably the best game ever though so that has helped me get on with it for now...

Zelda has frame rate issues for me while docked. Happens alot when I'm running and pan the camera around, I reckon the fps drops below 30 at times and is very noticable. I can over look it but it kills the immersion at times.

I've no joy con or wifi issues at all and have it next to PS4 pro, One S, PS3, smart TV, my phone and laptop. My UPC router is down stairs 4 meters away through 2 walls and a floor.

The system is working perfect for me. It really is such a huge change. I've been gaming since the master system, and always kept up. Our son was born four months ago which made it impossible to game - also I'm on the go a lot for work, stayovers, commutes etc. The change was instant, I can get a few minutes in on the tv if possible, if he wakes, or we turn on cartoon for him, I can lift and play. And lob it into my bag to take on the road. Love it.

I dunno, it might just be me but I haven't noticed any issue when playing docked and even watching that video I can't notice it even with the framerate counter dropping on it

I have no doubt all these little issues would be mighty annoying if you add them up but so far, thankfully, I don't seem to be affected by any of them, except poor wifi performance when docked but I can live with that

I see quite abit of framerate issues while docked in kakariko village especially when raining.

How are you finding the messenger bag? I have one reserved in Dundrum but not been able to find any reviews before pulling the trigger.

I bought the offical nintendo case for mine -

I love it as it is black -I have the grey Switch - It says Nintendo on one side and Switch on the other side if you look close enough - I'm on the road and I play it when I'm having coffee in a restaurant.

It also comes with a screen protector - I haven't used it yet - I'm terrible at putting screen protectors on phones so I might ask a friend to do it.

There isnt any argument that the game has frame rate issues when docked.

It has, digital foundry have documented it and just walking down the hill in the first area is full of frame drops.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,431 ✭✭✭MilesMorales1

I had some drops when undocked. In the forest bits and walking up the bank of a river.

Yeah the framerate is quite bad on while docked. I'm quite susceptible to it. Certain areas are horrible it was pretty much consistently at 20. But i've fought past it cause it's just so good.
