Are they selling out in Ireland?

If that Argos one falls through, looks like GameStop Santry may have one/some:

    Failing that, Naas or Drogheda.

No. They're readily available in Smyths. And a lot of Argos stores outside of Dublin. Gamestop on Henry Street, Dublin rang me yesterday asked if I wanted my Switch, I said no thanks.

I know you've problems with seeing things on the TV, but the Switch screen is fantastic, so hopefully that is alright for you!
(Assuming I didn't get that the wrong way round!)

    Don't seem to be:

The grey versions have a lot of availability though, as everyone seemed to go for the neon version.

The Neon is class to be fair, so happy I went with that 1 :D

Show's what's wrong with the world to be honest. Grey is classy and understated.

I'm sorry, was he talking about the Neon Switch? I thought he meant in general.

Surely they should be leveraging HD rumble and stereo surround sound to give us some sort of Daredevil-based Beat-em-up that requires you to use all your other senses. "PS4 has VR? Ha! Let Nintendo introduce you to the Smellovision!"

After Amazon the weasel's cancelled my grey Switch order, when I went to midnight launch I was offered neon or grey and could not resist neon after peering at the boxes whilst waiting in the queue... :)

Looking back, I think I was wrong, I assumed that they were, as the conversation immediately above that was about someone looking for the neon.

I went for the grey switch myself, as I'd pre-ordered before the neon was known about, and didn't bother changing. I did however also order a set of neon joy-cons, so I've the best of both. The neon ones are so bright, they genuinely do look great.

Hmmm.....heard the fans comes on earlier on. System had been in sleep mode for the previous day at least, and was docked for about 3mins before they started up. Might be something that occurs when it needs to burst charge (was about 40%), as it's not something that happens during long periods of play.
Undocked it, and the fan level dropped and then redocked it and back to being whisper quiet.

This is the nicest colour, unfortunately it's only available as a dev kit.
    v015C2i.jpg

Hopefully, that'll be available when I decide to buy the Switch.

That looks class alright - hopefully they might release a set of black joycons in the future as I already have mine - I quite like the grey at the moment but... to quote Lego Batman - "Black is Back"

Hopefully by the time I get a switch they'll have removed the outrageously large bezel.

And before I get the "you don't notice it after a while" line, I don't want to notice it in the first place. I honestly think it looks massively out of place.

Seriously it's 2017. Theres only one reason it's there and thats for Nintendo to make a couple of euro more per device sold.

    I hate the bezel too.

Presumably the whole console is here for Nintendo to make money, I wouldn't take particular offense to the bezel over it.

It allows a larger console with a smaller screen, larger console means more space inside for stuff, smaller screen means more battery life. I'd take the bezel, horrendous as it is, over cut-down internals or smaller battery.

I hear what you're saying. I think it's one of those things I didn't expect to hate so much but the more I look at pictures of the device it's all I can see. Very irritating. As I say though it's not beyond Ninty to release a new version of hardware so maybe a revised version in a year or so will fix this and maybe even extend battery life

I don't even notice the bezel, and given it's the first iteration of the hardware it's more likely than not to have a hardware revision in a year or two.

Ah now don't forget it's the same Nintendo who released a new battery for its own Wii U within the first two years.

And they're worse in the portable zone for new versions, smaller, bigger, shake it all about, etc..

The Nintendo Switch’s left Joy-Con connection issues are hardware related

    https://techcrunch.com/2017/03/07/heres-why-the-switchs-left-joy-con-could-have-connection-issues/

Meaning the problem can't be fixed with a firmware update.

Thankfully lots of boardsies saying theirs is grand but oh oh spaghetti oh in general ninty.

Queue the give your controller back to a shop within a year ala ps4's atrocious joystick wear issue!

I declare today Orthodox Switchmas, Argos have no clue when the hori pad is in, thank you Switchtsar for bringing my neon switch, time to go back to Hyrule.

I had the problem, was the UPC box slightly infront of the dock. Seems crazy sensitive, I moved the dock two inches and no problems since even at further distances.

Another fairly decent review, pros and cons. Although they mention it outputs 720p when docked - according to DF that's just the home screen, Zelda runs at 900p doesn't it? Presumably 1080p isn't out of the question either.

Happy I made the right decision in holding off, plenty of areas need to improve by 2018 before I'll jump on board.

@earthwormjack - has the wifi improved with the replacement?
