I Canceled on Friday and still haven't got my unlock code. It was an HTC 10. Doesn't it depend on the brand of phone you have, when you get the code to unlock?

Requested unlock codes on Saturday at the same time for both my wifes and my own S6. Mine came by email within 2 hours. Still no sign of the wifes.

We have both ported over to Vodafone already and so she has no phone at the moment. She is not impressed (with me):D

Has anyone switched from 3 to Virgin Mobile? I'm liking the look of the €25 a month unlimited plan. Seems like a winner.

Just got through to Three. New SIM only kicks in on 1 April for €30 all inclusive. Can get upgrade at that stage if I want even it would mean starting new contract . Think I will just stay on this SIM only for the foreseeable future as nothing wrong with old phone. Happy out !!

Me. Have the virgin sim on my desk in front of me. €5 a month for the first 5 months. Amazing deal really. Am just sweating over an unlock code from Three (see posts above)

I cancelled contract on sim only now, requested unlock code via the website later that day, emailed me to say they'd have to get it from the manufacturer. Had it the next day, S6 Edge now unlocked.

Deadly. Yep, that's the one I'll go for I reckon. I don't even need an unlock code as I use my own phone so I'm just gonna try and get out of my 3 contract without penalty. Thanks

I've been trying to call the 1800 the last 2 days. Rang the 1913 today at about 11 am got through straight away. So would advise people to call 1913 (don't select any of the 1 to 4 options, wait and she will then ask you to select 1-5 options) select 5, then she asks are you thinking of leaving Three? (select 1). I was only waiting for 3 minutes.

I had the 55 euro plan with 20 months left on my contract. The guy offered me 2 months free to stay on the 60euro plan, I declined. Then he offered me the 30euro sim only, which I took. I also requested phone unlock. (He put me on hold and after 2 minutes it disconnected so had to call again but it was just to confirm that I had been changed to the new plan)

Only thing was I lost my 20% discount, as he said bills can't be under 30euro!! Anyway, I'm still saving loads and I'm free to move to another company at a later stage. Thanks OP

Seems like a no brainer to switch from 3 bill pay to 3 bill pay sim only or 3 sim only plan.

For anyone considering switching to another provider beware, only 3,Meteor and Vodafone will offer you the coverage you expect, they own the infrastructure, All the others Tesco,id,48months, lycamobile use the previous o2 3g infrastructure which is fine for voice but not data.

This may not matter if you live in a populated area but if your rurual beware, my wife signed up to Tesco and cannot use her data as there is ZERO coverage at our house, and we aren't exactly in the sticks.

Isnt there problems with being able to recieve automated text messages though? E.g. bank account changes, pin codes when you sign up for things etc? If that wasnt the case i'd switch, but I need to be able to receive all my texts

First I've heard of it. People who have Virgin mobile contracts can't receive automated text messages? Really?!

From certain bulk providers, yeah, they can't get them.

I had heard those issues before joining Virgin, but it hasnt been the case - just got a text notification with a pin from my bank this morning.

Only thing I have noticed is that I cant send messages to some premium short codes - for example, entering a competition on RTE via text. I guess its anything that will add an additional cost to your bill. But thats not really important for me, so not bothered.

The two LTE ones were taken at two different times too in different areas as I was driving Super consistent and fastest I've seen 4g!

In normal times instructions in writing should be perfectly fine, but 3 are consistently insisting that people ring that number to get any proper response on this. Just ring until you get on hold and be prepared to wait up to an hour, once you get through to a person it's quick and easy.

Anyone who went to a sim only plan - did you have to get a new sim or did they do it on the fly for you?

You don't need a new sim, only those switching to payg need a new sim.

Thanks! I contacted the Three reps last week about this. They left me waiting over night to tell me to give their dedicated team a call.. Then when I had a chat session they said I'd need to get a new sim! I wanted to go from the €40 (soon to be €45 plan) to 30 day sim only but temped to go to virgin instead!

Anyone managed to swop over to sim only by calling into Three stores. I'm currently on hold with everyone else. I've tried calling the 1513 but they have changed the options and refer you to online chat.
