I'd hazard a guess that the Classic Flex Max 350 plan (30 day sim only) will disappear considering it's going to be the same price as the Unlimited Flex Max version (€30 pm).

    You're right, it's gone wef 3 April.

any suggestions on who is good to move to

I ordered a Meteor sim (which I received yesterday), I found the signal in my area much better for calls and am testing the data and calls around Dublin before I make a decision.

I have also ordered a vodafone sim which I will also test out. 3 is complete rubbish in my area and around town for where I need to use it so I will be so glad to switch.

I finally got through on Sunday after a weekend of on hold and my end date is still 07/2018

By your post above, I'll give it till my bill date 09/03 to see if it changes then

Think it depends on the date you cancelled.

I rang again today to double check as the previous plan was still showing up on my online Three account.

I cancelled on the 02/03 (and switched to sim only) and The guy today verified that the contract was indeed terminated but as my billing date falls on the 01 (therefore I'm to pay a final bill on the old plan), the plan won't be changed until the 01/04.

Its the data that will rip through the credit quickly. Not sure of the costs per Mb at the moment but I've gone through 40€ credit without realising i was out of the bundle. You're best off to just do it every 28 days automatically and if you want to use up some of your credit you can buy a bundle. Like 500 Mb for 5€. Again not sure of the costs but you should really not use data on PAYG outside of the free 28 days or a data bundle.

Agree strongly, my automatic top up didn't work on one occasion and in the space of 2 hours I had used over €100 of my stored credit on data (spotify).
It was an error on the part of 3 and they reinstated the money to my account later after I queried. Automatic top up is a major convenience for me, I was a bill pay user for 18 years until I changed to PAYG last year.

Finally got through and got the cancellation sorted.

This has probably been asked already but I got conflicting information from Three reps on the phone.

If I port now to Vodafone (for example) will I still need to pay for the next 30 days of service from Three (which I won't be using)?

Yes, it's the same as when you come to the end of your contract and have to give them 30's day notice.

Is there a cut-off date for when you have to cancel by? I'm off on thursday so will look to do it then!

Just for someone who has only joined the chat- the best option seems to be to join the 30 day Sim only contract with 3, is that right??

I'm on Three Open Taster 12Mth, really annoying as I've been trying to get out of this contract for ages. Apparently it is an old O2 plan..strange considering the name! Contract up in July

    Yes I'd imagine so.

I've just literally gotten connected after trying to ring all morning. Recorded msg saying a wait time of over 10mins to speak to an agent. This better be a free call!

Ok, so I cancelled my contract via the 1800 number (1 hour on hold - lovely) and have been told that I can't unlock my phone until after my contract is cancelled. That is, after the date on which my Three sim will no longer make/receive calls (30 days after I told them to cancel my contract)

I'm switching to Virgin and already have their SIM, waiting to be activated but obviously can't use it until my phone is unlocked.

According to the Three website, they can take between 3 and 21 days to get an unlock code sent out to you. In view of the way they seem so overwhelmed by all these cancellations I suspect it will be closer to 21 than 3.

Am I missing something, or am I going to have to deal with a non-functioning phone for up to 3 weeks?!

If your contract is canceled you should be able to request the unlock code now.

Last Friday I canceled my contract and asked them to move me to a 30-day rolling contract. The same day (about 1 hour later) I requested the unlock code for my iPhone. Got an email yesterday saying I would be able to unlock my iPhone after 24-hours. About 30 minutes ago I successfully unlocked my iPhone using iTunes. Verified by inserting a non-Three sim card.

Have you chanced seeing if the SIM will work in your phone? Sometimes we assume that they're locked when they're not.

I was given an unlock code the day after I cancelled my contract. Get onto the online chat, or even just use the form here: https://apps.three.ie/contact_form/unlockcode

That's interesting. Thanks. I was told my contract wouldn't be cancelled until 30 days after my request for them to cancel it. Maybe there's different rules for people staying with Three to people who want to switch network?

Did you swap to a sim only contract with Three when you cancelled?

Yeah I did. But that still takes 30 days to kick in. I'm still technically on my contract now.

Ok, cool. Thanks. That's encouraging. Probably just the guy on chat has his facts wrong. Which happens all the time. One of the reasons I'm glad to be jumping ship!

Was told the same, requested a code and got an email saying I couldnt unless I paid 300e or something to clear contract.

Was trying to get through for over an hour, finally got through just to be told that their system is down at the moment so I have to try again later !!!

when you cancel your contract it should be 30 days notice, for someone changing to the 30 day sim only plan it will go through at the end of the billing period, my billing period finishes in 3 days, and i will go straight to the 30 day sim plan

I downgraded to SIM only at 10 o'clock this morning, and have the unlock code emailed to me already.(despite the CSA saying it could take 2weeks).

im still a bit amazed that 3 is losing all these people, seems like a bit of a boo boo on their part, my bill was 40 a month and usually i ended up paying 50-60 now im on 30 a month , and dont have to wait till 2018 to upgrade

I Canceled on Friday and still haven't got my unlock code. It was an HTC 10. Doesn't it depend on the brand of phone you have, when you get the code to unlock?

Gah. Presume this is after you'd told them you were going to cancel? Starting to look a lot like one rule for people staying with three and another for people leaving.
