    Wondering this too

I very much doubt a three store can do anything much for you. They are there to sell product and contracts but once signed up they refer you to three's CS for almost everything to do with the contract.

Someone should tell Three about the rules...

    Just got this email.
We’ve received your request for the Network unlock code.
You need to meet the following criteria before we can issue you with your network unlock code

As you have 11 months remaining of your current minimum term, you will need to make an advance payment of €595.17

Hm will prepay users have to ring up and cancel in some shape or form, or can we just port our number?

Just port away anytime you like (but use your credit up first) no need to say anything to three thats one of the advantages of prepay.

I bet you just applied for the unlock without ringing them to cancel the existing contract. Same thing happened to my daughter when we requested the unlock following online chat. Ring the number, talk to a person and you'll be good to go. They'll move you to rolling and request the unlock while you're on the call.

How long after you cancelled did you do it online?

Probably takes a but of time for it to be reflected. I requested unlock code about an hour or two after on the site, no issues only they have to request it from the manufacturer.

It may be because your contract technically doesn't finish until next month.. we need to pay for our present contract this month and from next month any changes made will begin.

Or cancel, keep the phone and switch over to a rolling contract. It'll be half the price.

Don't appreciate your choice of words @ynwa 17 on how I was speaking- there is no need for that on such a forum but I appreciate the clarity offered. I didn't purport to be an expert on Fair Usage Policy hence my post.

You are most likely on an old type contract even if it was a recent upgrade. 2 guys here are in the same boat. No change for them in monthly bill so no "opt out" clause unfortunately.

Well, like, I've no "monthly bill" per se. I just go onto AIB and top up my phone by €20 whenever I'm running low on call credit. Last time was November 2016 and I've still got €15 left.

I don't use data or anything.

So I'm guessing I'm not affected...

This is fricken awesome. Four months ago I signed up to a 24-month contract on a new HTC 10 for 40 euro a month.

    After the call,
I'm on a sim pay as you go one-month rolling contract at 30 a month. Plus, I got a request for an unlock code for the HTC 10 (he said it can take 14 days to receive it.)

    THANK YOU LORD JESUS!!!!

Is Three's 1800 818 021 number down? I have been trying all day. Even their live chat is down.

Just imagine the number of calls they are getting. Even the three:reps in the talk to forum have said that there are high call levels.

    Just keep trying.

You guess correctly. You are not on a contract. You are on prepay, so not affected.

Hi there, I am due an upgrade on my phone but want to cancel and bring my contract down to the €30 a month. How will it affect me in getting a new phone on a contract or when I sign up to a new contract will they offer me a new phone?
    Thank you

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,306 ✭✭✭-=al=-

Quite possibly been answered but I can't seem to find it in the last few pages but what the heck does this mean...

    Pre pay €20

    dC8KFLA.png

Is it All you can eat data with 60GB fair usage? or is it 2GB

Go forth and get those unlock codes!

Assuming their upgrade policy hasn't changed since November when I came off a sim only plan. I didn't qualify for an "upgrade" as such, but got the phone on the higher tarrif as if I were a new customer and paid what a new customer would for the handset. The shop has to ring 3 customer services to get it sorted, but sorted it was. Hopefully this is still the case.

It's all you can eat data in Ireland and then 2GB of data when you roam in the EU.

what do you say when you talk to them? just want to cancel the account ? they don't question it or say anything about the contract end ???

You didn't purport to be an expert, but you made a number of points where you purported to know the facts on it and what you were saying was fact, when you were actually wrong. Given the interest in this thread and i assume, huge number of lurkers, I felt it was appropriate for me to call you out on your claims.
It's all you can eat data in Ireland and then 2GB of data when you roam in the EU.

The 2gb is what you're 'entitled to' in Ireland as part of their 'core offering' and this is why they are only offering 2gb while roaming. This is the main issue the EU have - they are saying 2gb is all they have to give you roaming as they only give 2gb as part of the core offering in Ireland and the AYCED is an additional benefit outside of their core offering. Clearly this isn't true and I'd expect more issues down the line.
