Haven't bought a Nintendo console since the wii except for a 3ds for my son but I'm super hyped for this console. If Nintendo don't manage to knock this out of the park given the hype and welcome it's been given for the most part it surely only be their own fault.

The thoughts of lunchtime multiplayer bomber man splatoon and mario kart at work for money has me salivating for this.
Even FIFA might be proper on this console

Sligeach thats almighty fine article. I think you comment and share more on here and on NintendoLife more than most, I hope you dont mind me asking but you are a conundrum to me :)... You seem to have a love/hate thing going on with Nintendo :) Your obviously on lots of sites, and spend a lot of time sharing for others to keep us all up to date, heck you could start your own Nintendo site id say :)

So Question is, with positive articles like that and are you tempted at all to just get one at launch, id die waiting till Christmas and missing Switchmas to be honest. I know its bare bones launch library but new hardware and ways to play regardless is exciting times. Outside of say monetary reasons, and I understand its not 100% value day one, but no way switch is getting pricedrop so its same as buying now vs xmas on Hardware side.

So are you getting the itch to buy day one at all? :)

Speaking of NintendoLife, these has to be the cutest excuse to get a switch ever, laughed all through this, nintendo magic even on the small things. Those beeps!!! :)

Reports of issues with the JoyCons.

Apparently the left Joy Con is desyncing during gameplay.

I really hope that's fixable via a firmware update

otherwise that's a pretty big issue to not have been noticed in testing

    this is interesting

it seems updates won't interfere with gameplay
Once it's released, Nintendo says the update seamlessly downloads in the background. It's "designed to install quickly and doesn't disrupt gameplay."

Surprised that this didn't come up developing the likes of 1,2 Switch where they are used for out of the ordinary uses.

I have the exact same issue with my Wireless BT headphones and S7. If your whole body or hand engulves then signal cant passthrough. Any bone density imseems to cause it and only when its fully covered over signal cant get into it.

Might be hard to patch bar boosting signal and be more issue if you've big hands. Hopefully grip isnt blicking signal too where its clipped on.

from the video sligeach posted above you can see that not actually holding the joycons in your hands directly extends the range

No support for Bluetooth headsets on Switch

A few days ago, French outlet Melty reported that Switch would support Bluetooth headsets based on an interview conducted with Nintendo’s Yoshiaki Koizumi. However, it turns out that information was incorrect.

The site now has a follow-up report in which it states that Bluetooth headsets aren’t actually compatible. There was either an incorrect translation or misunderstanding. Nintendo France passed along the news to Melty.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that Switch doesn’t support headsets at all. You’ll just need to use a wired option.

Thats pretty much non-news. Nintendo are using their app for communication so there was never going to be blue tooth headset support.

And technically there is support, if you have a smart phone like the vast majority of people.

But I assume that includes bluetooth headphones and not gaming headsets. Which is why they mention that wired will work.
Could be annoying if you're playing in tabletop mode and your hands keep hitting the wire when you're moving them around.

Nintendo can shove their smart phone app. And it is news. I can list at least 10 sites that have reported on this in the past hour.

The Joy-Con losing signal problem could become a bit sticky for Nintendo unless it's resolved/explained. The Joy Cons don't actually de-sync from the machine, the signal gets weaker. It seems to be a range of no problems at all for people, problems when something is blocking the top of the joy-con and problems when nothing is blocking the top of the joy-con. Will be interesting to see how this develops.

Do any of the consoles support bluetooth headsets? Or do they have only a certain few that are compatible?

There's no way Nintendo didn't notice that sync issue though. It was replicated multiple times on that GameXplain video.

I don't think either Xbox or PS4 support bluetooth headsets, although I think PS4 recently added support for certain wireless ones.

Cool. I guess with the portable nature of the console support was expected though.

The fact that it's a reasonably common complaint among the very small amount of people who have the console so far is certainly a cause for concern. Hard to know if it's a patchable problem, unless it's possible to boost the signal through a firmware upgrade. Best case scenario, it's a pre-release quirk that won't be an issue when consoles are out in the (breath of the) wild. Worst case scenario, could be recall territory.

    That's just it.
A thing that's unsupported on the Switch is big news.
Another reason Nintendo have finally lost it.
Then it turns out they are bang in line with common practise.
    Non news, as said already.

Explains the joycon problem a little more. I'd gladly take 4-5 less hours on the joycons for a boosted signal.

"Battery life so far conforms to Nintendo's stated specs—I can get about three hours of portable Zelda play on a full battery charge, depending on the screen brightness. The included AC adapter seems to fill about 1 percent of the battery per minute (give or take) when the system is in sleep mode (that mode is very power conscious, incidentally—after eight hours in "sleep," a fully charged battery had only drained to 98 percent)."

Check out the link for a thorough preview.
