My main problem with 1, 2, Switch is that it looks too slight. Wii Sports had a bit of depth to it, and stuff you could spend a bit of time on and enjoy, like the bowling challenges. I'll try it and see, but won't be rushing to get it just yet.

Think it should have been a pack in too...

Long history of Irish music in Japanese videogames... I blame Enya!

Mostly Mitsuda's influence so not surprised he has an Irish singer.

But apparently it doesn't play awful.
And it's in the playing that it shines.
It is not a visual game, hard to represent its tactile roots in a bunch of trailers and some screenshots.
And hence why the typical online clickbait merchant can't spend the time doing anything other than slate it.
Arms is supposed to be quite good to spectacular, depending on the source who've played it, including a poster here.
So, I'd rather wait and see than judge it on, well, nothing.

What boxing match have you seen using 1 arm? You mentioned Arms there. They've said you can play that with 1 arm in that game, but it's not recommended at all. I don't need to play most of these games to know they're cack. HD rumble? Whoop de whoop! I think it was IGN that were saying it's not great and the Nintendo reps tried to make them move their legs around for that posing game and they were like you're alright. It doesn't know what your legs does.

But it's not about simulating an actual boxing match and just competing against your friend to throw a punch first when the voice calls for a straight/hook/uppercut.

I still think overall there are at least half a dozen to a dozen of the minigames that look like they'd be really good minigames for messing around with friends every now and then as a bit of craic.

Here's a preview, might lift your hopes for the game a little, but you won't be buying it for a while as you aren't going for a Switch just yet, so why worry?

Also, we're into single digits for the waiting, 9 days!

Don't know if this has been posted yet but Smyths website have dropped the price of a lot of their Switch games to more reasonable levels. Mario Kart is 54.99, 1, 2 Switch is 44.99, Bomberman R is 49.99

Amazon dropped the price of Mario Kart to £42 as well, which is nice. Hopefully 1-2 Switch goes well down in price so I can justify buying it :pac:

If you are going to a midnight launch next Thursday, it's really only 8 days :D

I won't be, but loads here are, for sure!

I'm thinking the same. If it were 15euro or so, I'd snap it up for some quick fun for family and younger relatives.

Oh dear. Was worried someone might say that as I kinda know the wife is expecting us to rock up at around 11:30, collect the Switch 30 mins later and be home shortly afterwards. Anyway, we live close enough to Smyths that I can pop down earlier and see if a queue is forming (and go home if it's not)

Any midnight launch for anything I've always rocked up at 11:30 and literally sat in car until 11:55, was out and all usually at 12:10PM....

Similar with PS4 launch, I remember laughing at the "great unwashed" outside Tesco with their deckchairs waiting until it opened at 7am to get their PS4 as I went out with mine under my arm from GS.... :)

GTA V launch in Tesco Drogheda also actually had a huge queue outside, that one took about 20 mins so I was still finished up and all by 12:25

One I went to for Skyrim in Airside I think was about 3 people there so no idea why we or the shop bothered opening... :)

I'm going to head for Smyth's at about 23:00, bring a Gameboy Micro with me.
My son will be waiting in the car, for the big moment.
    Can't wait!

    That's what it's all about!

I may bring our lads to PM after school to get it if it's there, the excitement, LOL

Edit : My excitement, the kids are PC master race kids, they'll be like "yeah, another **** console"

They do have 2DS and New 3DS though so it may get a little bit of love... :)

I probably won't bother heading out to Gamestop until after 11.30. I'm not sure how long the wait will be if I leave it until then, but effort of queuing for an hour before it. I'll have company anyway so won't be too bad. Really have no idea how long these things take.

Grab a NES Mini Classic while you're there :D

So are the shops talking BS by saying you'll have to pre-order to get one?
I plan on calling into a smyths on the way home from work on Friday afternoon.
Was hoping just to pick one up there and then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Some of the shops have a couple set aside for walk-ins, but the majority are all pre-ordered. I wouldn't fancy your chances of being able to get one after work on Friday!

Surely each store only has 30 or 40 units? You wouldn't be that long in a queue surely

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 980 ✭✭✭hairball

Due to a schedule change my significant other is working Friday 3rd.
Normally she has the day off and goes and does fun stuff with our 3 year old girl.
This means the little one will be along for the spin when i go to pick up my pre-order. What better introduction to games than coming with me to pick up Nintendo's latest console.
All as it should be :D

I'd say so. Was planning to stroll to Henry Street after the pub on Thursday lol

I can't imagine there being that big a queue, especially since not everyone who pre ordered will even be at the midnight launch. I guess we'll know on the night :pac:

Guy I spoke to in my local Smyths (Athlone) said they'd had around 70 preorders and I had that conversation with him about 3 weeks ago, so probably more by now

So, any guesses as to the first couple of months of Switch she's, or what the E3 might have in store for Switch owners?

I know my chances of being disappointed are exceptionally high, but I always hope for Metroid news at E3... Proper Metroid news, as in a game where you play as Samus...

The development studio are teasing something at the mo'. Let's hope it's Metroid.

I'd love an F-Zero related announcement but there's a slew of futuristic racers on the way including, potentially, a version of Formula Fusion:
