So yes here's a screenshot of her saying it's an Ad and that she's very transparent.... She never had #ad up from the start of the whole thing as far as I can remember. From going to pick it out and designing the ring to collecting it. So how she's transparent is beyond me!

This is the original tweet I'm talking about - she tweeted fairly quickly after this to say 'NOT' and ad.

That tweet is still visible because I just looked it up there, it was never deleted. Surely she would have deleted that one since it's stating it I an ad.

i'd be more worried about her not being able to spell ad than that to be honest... morto for her...

not it's an add i'm extremely transparent xx

did anyone just ask the shop?

I find style me curvy and Louise Cooney very bad at #ad They were both at the pennys event, and when they went through their clothes before hand they just did the usual "I got this amazing blah blah". Like the others #ad their clothes etc so they should have done it. They only intermittently used the correct #ad. It's clear that Primark obviously made all the bloggers do it, as similar events before had no #ad.

Also, I've zero love left for Tara make up. She did a take over of vavavoom the other night and said on her own snapchat, "I'm obviously not going to #ad all the snaps cos it would take forever and it's gonna take about an hour and a half anyway". All in all it was 28 minutes! no #ad.

I have to agree with the poster earlier who asked JJ to stop with the mouse filter when discussing products. Use it for being silly or whatever but not when you're apparently doing your job. Imagine turning up to a work conference promoting a product and you had mouse ears on and spoke in a funny voice. Some of these bloggers need to grow up. They're well able to put the flattering cutesy filters on every snap but writing #ad is apparently too much effort.

Just having a gander on Instagram stories and Pippa has actually #ad a pic about Rimmel. Just went onto the blog post it was referring to. It has the word ad on the first photo but I can't see any other mention of it. Is the whole lot #ad, is it just Rimmel, I don't know.

Sorry for this off topic post!

Just an occasional poster on here but I read it daily, can everyone just be mindful of the things that get the thread closed, I have already read things that would get it closed again.
Think about what you write before you write it!

The mouse issue is relevant. How are we supposed to hear what the blogger is promoting when they have a squeaky pitched voice which makes what they're saying inaudible? Altering your voice to make it sound cutesy when promoting something isn't on, IMO. Any other time is grand like, just not when you're doing your job and showing a product.

Also, this thread isn't wholly about #ad anymore. It's about bloggers mentioning and promoting products.

Therapie clincc must have a huge mark-up on their treatments when they can invite a number of people in to get free treatments, even though they're €95 a pop.
I saw James K getting one today and it seems to be a whole lot of spouting technical-sounding jargon and nothing particularly worth €95.

i unfollowed him after the mocking fiasico... not worth the nonsense he spouts. never transparent... and to think i defended him lolz.

So even Sue has now started to use #sp or whatever variation she uses. And yet Fairy still isn't doing this. I literally have never once seen #ad or #spon throughout her blogging career. I find it hard to believe she promotes so much products and NEVER gets any money to do so. Really? If even Sue is starting to cover her back by now declaring, I can't see how Fairy isn't?

I'm nearly sure it was Therapie that got a number of bloggers in early last year (or it could have been the year before) for laser hair treatment, a lot of them had posted on Instgram after their first session but I don't recall anyone posting anything since.

Probably because it didn't work :D

I see that Marissa Carter is now brand ambassador for Vero Moda. She had a few snaps up about it earlier and #ad some of them. I actually think it's a good fit, I like her style of clothes anyway, she's about my age and I find what she wears to be age appropriate and some of the outfits she showed on her snaps were really nice and wearable. I do forgot about Vero Moda when I'm in town. One thing I do wonder, why is she brand ambassador now when she's in the process of moving across the Atlantic - AFAIK there's no Vero Moda in the states?

I remember the makeup fairy had snaps up about some tape for your boobs can't remember the name. Anyhow she hadn't #ad on the snaps but on a Instagram post she had the # up. Also the same when she was promoting folic acid a few months back!

JJ went on snapchat to discuss her using #ad and how transparent she is....

    So....

If "it" says #ad shes getting paid. (it being her snapchat)
If she says she was gifted this or was sent this, its for free.
And if she says she went and got this today or purchased this today she bought it herself.

She then goes on to say, if it says #ad she's paid, and if she doesn't put #ad its free or she got her herself.

So basically she doesn't have to say anything if its free (we already know this...) so presume her ring was free in exchange for doing the video.
I think she confused herself during her snap rant to be honest.

I seen that too. I think her partner bought her the ring after she the baby, I'm not 100% but I think she mentioned something about it before. What annoys me at moment with her is not saying where her clothes are from and just sending people to her blog post. Are the links in these affiliated? I haven't bothered to check.

Yeah every single bit of clothing in the click and shop blog etc is affiliated! Even two £1700 handbags from Selfridges.

Its so annoying. Like can't understand why they can't say, "my tops from river island. There is link to it on my blog!". I know myself i'd follow those links rather than putting in grey skirt and trawling through messy websites like! So they would still get their affiliate link. I do this with Rosemary Mccabe all the time. She says were its from and then leaves a link.

Totally agree, plus when you get to the blog, it STILL doesn't tell you where they are from till you click the item. It's like click bait.
I wonder would she have addressed this if it had not been for all the backlash on Twitter over the weekend.
Perhaps her partner did purchase the ring, but I'm very surprised at the level of cross platform promotion she has engaged in for the jewellers if she wasn't benefiting in some way from it. She said it herself on her Snapchat earlier why would she line the pockets of brands and not get paid....

I reported Grace to ASAI a few weeks ago and got a letter back from them pretty quickly :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,039 ✭✭✭✭retro:electro

I wonder how long does it take the ASAI to inform the blogger they are being investigated and is it done by post also? And do they know what issue they're being investigated for? So many questions! :pac:

I would imagine snapchat creates mayor issues for investigations as it disappears

EVERY link on the click and buy goes through the r.styleme affiliate link.
This appears on the bottom of the page though:

'Lisa may receive commission via her blog links depending on certain brands'

But it's still very vague. Because of the fact that there is only a certain number of pieces in the section, they all mysteriously only seem to come from the list of stores that are on r.styleme site so technically it's not depending on what brand she is using because the certain brand she chooses are on the site.

Although she has a disclaimer, I find it very disingenuous that instead of just mentioning what she is wearing on snapchat, she is directing her followers to a section that doesn't even give the information. Basically sending everyone on a wild goose chase for a top worth 30euro? BTW some affiliate links require only a click through the link for payment so how do we know which one is which?

She claims that she is transparent, but she clearly she only does the bare minimum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,039 ✭✭✭✭retro:electro

    How can she claim she is transparent when she;
    1. Barely discloses what is an ad and certainly not across all platforms
    2. Blocks people for asking is this an ad
    3. Doesn't disclose where her clothes are from but directs people to her blog
    4. Once on her blog it's still not disclosed where the item is from until you click on the link.

You're transparent alright Jordan. I can see right through you.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 436 ✭✭Ray37

Ok, just watched JJs snap there, 'I am VERY transparent', is she actually serious?? She's one of the worst for non disclosure. Says she 'always' uses #ad.... I've been following her for over a year and I think I've seen #ad twice?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 856 ✭✭✭idunno78

Just saw a picture on Marissa carters instagram and about the Vera moda brand ambassador role. She has #ad at the end of the piece! I would imagine her and Vera moda are following the rules so other ambassadors should be doing the same I'd imagine!!

Edit to add about just jordan! If you look at her Twitter account you will see 2 posts promoting pampers one with the #ad and the other without!!!! One right under the other!! It's a bit down her page I can't post the screen shot! Transparent?!

I watched jj snaps too and basically she tripped herself up saying I'm not going to line the pockets of brands, and yet she claims she did the whole moores jewellers ad for free or for no discount on her ring , no commission of some sort ? Or future discount ? .
How does she expect anyone to believe that When last week she told a 'hater' that she deserved her bag because she works so hard . It makes no sense.
So she will just #ad when she gets paid ?, her whole Snapchat is one big ad.
when a brand is mentioned bloggers should be very clear as far as I'm concerned.
If they direct you to clothes on their blog they should say that they get money jj makes out like she's linked all these clothes on her blog as a favour to her followers.

If they mention they were sent an item even just #freebie or #affiliate.

Did I read these freebies are taxable ?

More reports to the asai and revenue need to be made.
