I noticed on Tara's snaps tonight she had #ad for every snap related to Meaghers

They all must be following this thread or were spoken to by the advertising authority in Ireland ...

I haven't followed her Snapchat now for a few months, I just couldn't deal with how fake she seems to be. I do still follow her Instagram but i don't really use Instagram much so I hardly ever see her on her platform. It's good to hear she has improved, it was time for her!

I think a lot of you are correct, if you saw JJs rant last night, I think that is the real her, not the sweet persona she portrays. Why else would you delete it?
The fact that a lot of them are #ad all of a sudden makes me wonder about all the income they made without #ad.
I also do think a lot of them especially JJ realise that the window of opportunity to make large amounts of cash for doing relatively little is narrow enough, they will milk it while they can.

I feel sorry for genuine bloggers who slog to create quality content, get perfect photos and who are 'competing' against the bigger bloggers, who are being rewarded for unethical behaviour

I was always one of her biggest advocates and I do still enjoy her snaps despite the fact I see right through her. I would prefer her content to many of the other top bloggers.

However, the sheer wealth and wastefulness is mind boggling. I have often ended up working 7 days of a week, and that was just a busy week. It certainly didn't warrant a 2k designer bag as a reward for doing what many of the population do every week anyway.

She owns some beautiful pieces but surely you can't appreciate and enjoy such luxurious, designer label items when you get one every other week as a reward for the completing the most mundane of life's tasks????

Not in a rush to unfollow as I genuinely do find her fascinating, however she must surely realise that the majority of the public cannot spend the way she spends. It's outrageous.

Part 1 of the jewellers video is up on their page and JJ has shared it no #ad, maybe she has paid in full for her eternity ring?

Doubt it, why would she do a video if there's no benefit to her. I'm guessing the ring was free or reduced price in exchange for the video & social media snaps. #Ad not required

Met her where she works before. Mentioned I was a follower. She was less than polite. I'd imagine she's as fake as they come.

There is no way that a big jewellers like Moore's would invest in a professional video with any blogger without paying her. I'm sure her ring was also completely free.

I find the efforts to repackage child birth as a whole new ring worthy, commercial event utterly superficial and thoughtless. How many brand new parents can afford thousands for a new ring? Your priorities shift; things like child-care, their education fund, day to day expenses and just getting from one end of the month to the other are what's important. Not another ring.

I've unfollowed her on every platform. I live in Cork and I believe every negative story about her.

Ad is required if they have asked her to be positive about her experience! Not saying that she didn't pay for it just saying that if she didn't and got it for free and they recorded a video for their page chances are it had been decided it would be positive therefore ad is needed. ive read that she just bloggs as a hobby (in another thread) but it must be more then that if she has a person working for her! So she must make an income from blogging i.e. Promoting products!

Fell into a rabbit hole of articles about the affiliate linking and promoting of certain products, particularly rewardstyle and how it works...
The criteria is strict enough, for example a blogger must have at least a certain amount of posts per week for a length of time which have monetisable content, so before they even get to this point of using rewardstyle they must be promoting clothes etc on their blogs and social media in a way that people will potentially buy them.
A second thing which struck me was that, as we know to some degree, only certain stores online accept rewardstyle linking; apparently these stores have to pay to be a part of the process every month and this means smaller brands and stores cannot afford it therefore certain bloggers will only ever promote these linked brands, and never others, purely because they can be monetised. We knew this with certain bloggers but I didn't realise it was because the smaller brands can't simply afford to be a part of this whole process
Also, if you "underperform" as a rewardstyle member (the bloggers that is), you can be removed from the programme! So they are under pressure to actually show a certain amount of sales through their affiliate links! Could explain why some bloggers hide what is happening so, they don't want to potentially lose out on the commission as it could affect their place on the programme.
A lot of food for thought.

Well, from my experience of this so called blogger I asked nicely, she answered and then I got blocked?

I asked and she replied (tweets my own). However that meant her SC was sponsored?? Promoting a certain new restaurant all week. If you are paid its across all mediums so blatant lies there.

If anyone asks about the ring you'll be blocked too.
    North Korea springs to mind.

Just watched the JJ video in the jewelry promotion for Moore's

Oh dear, trying to push young mothers to the belief that they need or deserve a ring for having a baby..... I found it to be in very bad taste.

Just looked at her Twitter there and I do see the above tweet mentioned questioning whether a post was #sp or not. Bless JJ I don't think she understands the actual requirement with her response "no my tweets are my own"

Also noticed a young girl in Twitter was upset was blocked in Snapchat for screenshotting a pic of JJ the she (JJ) described as ugly..... The girl was really upset but only was given that reason

    Where did she work before?

    Mac in Brown Thomas

    Mac in Brown Thomas

She has said before she doesn't like people coming up to her when she's at work, which is fair enough.

? What's wrong with people saying hi I'm a follower? Ridiculous carry on. She's hardly Beyoncé.

I'm pretty sure no employer would be overly enthusiastic if mooneyed girls would keep on hanging around where you work because they follow your hobby. Work is work, it's wrong if she was rude to customers but otherwise there should be boundaries.

Hanging around is one thing. But if working there meant that it was bringing customers there on a daily basis then I don't think that's something that employers would be annoyed about. Again, she's not Beyoncé so I doubt there'd be much fangirling or loiterers.

Chris Crocker is internet famous in the states and he always says he keeps his job and job location private because his employer doesn't need the drama that surrounds him.

You can't have it both ways, a herd of followers that are making you money on the side and an expectation that they can't approach you. If bloggings impacting your job so much, choose one or the other

Believe me, I saw her at least 7 or 8 times in MAC once I was aware of who she was.

Nobody passed the slightest remarks on her.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 398 ✭✭SpillingTheTea

Seeing as though she works for a makeup counter where it's main purpose is to drive sales (also they work on commission), I would highly doubt the management team would care if people were coming up to her. She's got a big enough following which in the eyes of the company equals €€€. Why wouldn't they utilise her as a driving point for the store?

(Speaking as a former manager of many a beauty counter here haha)

Exactly, it's not as if her job is drastically different to her hobby. Like if she was a social worker or a gp I'd think it was wrong but she's a beauty blogger and worked at a make up counter. Her blog/profile/following would be conducive to store sales

I would presume it does depend a bit on the target market. If your followers are mainly 16 years old girls then I'm guessing BT/mac won't smash their profit targets because of them, it would be more likely off putting to some regular customers. That being said nobody should be rude to customers.

Have you been into a Mac counter on a Saturday lately? It's full of 14-17 year old girls hogging the mirrors and buying more make up than Ru Paul. They seem to have more disposable money than I do.

Completely! I cannot abide rudeness at any level. I will say though, 16-24 year old girls/women are the biggest buyers especially in the beauty Industry (as in they spend more and frequently) based on the fact that it's assumed they have a higher level of disposable income.

Absolutely they are the main target audience for the likes of mac.

Grace started out working in river island, then moved to Bare Minerals in Boots. She used to always tell followers to come in etc. She even got month bonuses and often won the month sales targets due to her followers coming in. If you've ever been to a boots that has all those counters, I can assure you the Bare Minerals won is normally the quietest counter. I know this as my friend in an area manager and my local boots has all the counters and its never busy on BM. Grace then left BM and jumped into Ingot and was always pushing their products and telling people to come into the store. However she didn't last long in that job...... Don't know if she is actually a qualified MUA?

So my point is, i'm sure MAC in BTs in Cork would only be too delighted for JJ'a followers to come in and splash the cash!

I think Grace is like a lot of them and trained on the job working for different companies. Not sure if she has done an independent training qualification.

The promoting for her has gotten quiet....

I actually do think she's properly qualified. She was doing freelance for years before going to Inglot.

I believe she didn't stay at inglot because her skills didn't match what they were looking for.

    From Grace's LinkedIn

I think what happened at the Gossies and her lack of transparency has put a bad taste in mouths of the brands she worked with.
