I use her wax in my salon but there's another brand now similar she's annoying me that much lately i might change hate the way shes gone from smart business lady to whatever it is she is trying to be pippa wannabe I may just unfollow... think I'm having a bad day
I feel that way about Marissa carter business woman one minute and promoting with no #ad like she's a blogger the next.
Jj actually put #spon and #ad on her snaps today and I noticed nearly every snap she did today was an ad, makes me wonder how much of her snaps before were ads that she just wasn't bothering to be transparent about

Ya she had something up about pillow spray and a pic saying it was available in meaghers

Spotlight whitening is also something I've noticed being promoted by both bloggers such as Grace and Terrie McEvoy and no #ads hmmmmm.....

So wrong influencing young followers like that without being transparent . I hope the companies involved are being reported.

I've noticed rosemary mccabe putting #afflicted on some posts, more bloggers need to start doing this. Shows how transparent she's being.

The company's don't care, they're making money from naive people who don't realise that these are ads. I do hope they are being reported tho.

Why don't ye report them!? The company's should care as they are the ones that will get fined for bloggers not using #'s!!

I have before but didn't hear anything back, the more they are reported, maybe they might actually do something.

That was started by Lorraine from John it's only make up after her blog post on affiliate links. Hope it catches on but I doubt it will.

Interesting to see everyone at the centra event used #ad today!

I noticed even Pippa used it!! I actually think that's the first time I've ever seen #ad on her SC!

I noticed Pippa only used it for her first snap though, when it should have been used throughout. Still, small mercies!

I see MUF has announced she's launching 'matte lip kits'..... Few of the Geordie Shore/Towie girls have these too, as well as Kylie J of course.

I think the twist with the gloss topper is cool but tbh I'm sure the shades will be ones we've seen (and most of us own) and done before by many a company since the buzz of matte lip kits were around last year. In reality too, and no offence to her she's a great business woman, but the train has firmly left the lip kit station since last summer imo (since Geordie Shore members jumped aboard companies started moving onto the next beauty phenom...). Even Kylie has moved onto clothing, 'Kyshadow's' and seasonal item kits now in her brand.

I'm delighted for her. I like she keeps her private life private and I really respect someone who works so hard.

Yeah i dont have a problem with them releasing products or whatever. Its the working with outside brands and not disclosing that irks me.

What struck me from her snaps was just how young a lot of her followers are, a good few of them mentioned the mocks and studying. It just emphasises that a lot of people following these bloggers are very young and it's extremely important that they are not being misled. For anyone who says 'what does it matter if they don't #ad?" This is why it matters. The rules are there to protect these young people who may not be wise to what's really going on.

The Pippa brand is some kind of juggernaut these days. 700 people at last weekend's fashion factory and 1000 this weekend. That's €170k in two weekends. Not to mention the €100 jeans which are flying off the shelves it seems.

The money is this workshop business is mind blowing.

It'd make you wonder why she's turning up to these types of events at all.

I know. I can't even fathom the amount of money she must be making. Nice work if you can get it!

Yes, totally agree! This is what is most concerning, and the fact that others flog stuff while making unfounded claims. It's not fair, and if I had a young teenager watching these bloggers, I'd be horrified. Thankfully I think a lot more people are becoming more clued in about the sheer amount of paid promotion being rammed down our throats... It seems a lot of snapchatters use their platform solely to sell these days, it's like watching the shopping channel :( If I wanted ads 24/7 I'd just keep my telly on!

I have noticed lately that JJ instead of telling followers where her clothes/ shoes that she's wearing are from on Snapchat or facebook, she gets people to go on her blog which provides a link to wherever Missguided/river island etc.... I wonder does she get some form of payment from the amount of sales that are attributed from people going onto shopping websites from her page?

I've gone off her especially after her rant about how she deserved a YSL handbag (nothing wrong with that) obviously when you're on a public platform there will always be people who will criticise.

I'm glad some of them are using the #ad thing now and I completely agree about the followers being young doing the leaving cert, I think these make up a lot of the following for a lot of bloggers.

Which bloggers have the best competitions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭urbanshirl

JJs rant last night about the follower who messaged her to criticise her handbag purchase was ridiculous. There was no need to call someone out and dedicate a series of snaps to it. It's your money, spend it as you wish, & rise above the criticism.

She has been blocking followers for querying why she hasn't #ad but has never called anyone out publicly on that, then she goes to town on someone over a handbag. It was immature, bitchy and cringeworthy IMO.

    JJ deleted her story?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 697 ✭✭✭Cria

I saw that jj story about the bag .. I thought it was crass .. although she's entitled to purchase anything she likes is she a relatable blogger if she spends €2000 per handbag?? She has young followers them snaps seem like boasting ..
I wonder why she adresses that issue instead of all the questions relating to her lack of transparency, when promoting endless companies.

She uses affiliate links so if she puts up a river island top and you click on her link to the website, if you buy ANYTHING from that website, she gets a small percentage. Apparently, sometimes it's stored in your cookies as well so if you go on the river island website a few days later for a browse and buy something, she gets a percentage of that. Lorraine Haigney did a really good piece about it.

I've no problem with affiliate links at all, it costs me nothing extra and I don't mind helping the blogger out if I like them. However I hate when bloggers go on snapchat and say 'loads of questions about my top/skirt/bag/shoes, I've put a link on my instagram/blog for you guys'. Like it takes literally 2 seconds extra to tell someone where it's from, they are misleading followers by not declaring affiliate links.
