Thanks for the reply. I assume the camera remains the same with Viper? It's the one thing that used turn me off with Cyanogenmod. Any downsides or things to watch with it? Are the HTC bugs present on this ROM? Not overly bothered by warranty or anything like that.

The camera is the stock HTC one, although the devs sometimes make slight tweaks to it, or make later software versions available before they're officially released.

There's no downsides to the ROM. You can run it as completely stock if you wish, you just enable the tweaks you want. I don't really use many tweaks myself, but I'm very used to the ones I do use, and find them hard to live without.

If there are bugs in the HTC base, then it will exist in the ROM. The only issue I can think of with the nougat ROM is that Android pay doesn't work, but the devs just got their hands on a new base that it should work with.

I was changing SIM in my phone and having slight difficulty with it. I used too much force and the pin went all the way through, so I obviously broke something. Have sent if off via SBE, so will be interesting to see if they repair/replace under the warranty.
I hope they do as I will be waiting until 2018 to upgrade after seeing the new HTC flagship.

The new HTC flagship isn't revealed yet.....but yeah, it's probably similar to the U Ultra but slightly smaller with the side gestures and latest Snapdragon.

Finally should see Nougat officially in the next two weeks

I've been running Nougat for the last month or so, but one annoyance has been that Android pay wasn't working. HTC must have had the base verified by google in the last day or two, as Android pay is now fully functional on my device.

About time! I suspect I may be looking for a custom ROM next year, if I want 8.0/O.

I'm on ViperROM but still haven't made the move to nougat yet as I'm waiting for Xposed to get ported. I may be waiting a while but at least the marshmallow ROM is fast and stable.

What do you use xposed for? Jan will often add tweaks to viper to match of the popular xposed mods.

May I ask how you found out this info?

Done, main difference is the notifications. Kinda disappointed with the display size options - a setting between default and smallest would be ideal.

Right, last week I posted a question here to fellow 10 users asking if anyone experienced their phone not actually ringing when they received a call. But I hastily deleted the post as I realized I was dumb ass and for some reason had my ring tone set to silent.

However, I was still confused as I would have had no reason to change the tone to silent. Also I noticed that the vibrate button was unticked.

So there we go again this morning and all of a sudden I have more missed calls  My ringtone is set to silent again, and vibrate turned off!!! WTF  Now there is no way that I changed this myself over the last few days. The other thing that my phone has a habit of doing is turning off the auto rotate for when watching videos etc.

What the hell is gong on? Anyone else experiencing these changes going on in the background? What else is it doing without telling me?

This is still happening to me and is very frustrating. Also, my alarms keep going off, or should I say, the alarm tone is similarly being set to silent.

The only thing I can think I am doing that might be causing this is that I would turn down the volume on my phone going into meetings, playing golf etc. When you turn your volume up or down, you get a little drop down menu at the top of the screen so I would turn down all three, volume, media sound & alarms. But I always turn them back up later on. I have checked sporadically when I turn them back up to see if the ringtones have been changed to silent, but they never are.

    anyone else?

God I miss the old Nokia where you could have 3 or 4 different sound and notification settings and it was reliable :(

Went to smallest the day I put N on, never looked back. A couple more options would be nice, though.

Greenify and amplify for battery. Couple of other random app specific ones too.

Ah ok, you think they make a difference? I didn't think they improved my battery at all.

I have unlocked EU and no sign of Nougat when I check for updates :(

BTW: After breaking the SIM slot on my phone, left it in to SBE and it was returned a week later fully repaired and under warranty! Second time using SBE (1st was purple camera issue on M7) and great service both times.

Actually, I bought my 10 straight from HTC unlocked.

But it is coming up as a Vodafone handset in the play store and that's the software number I have. How the hell did they do that?

I'm on viper10 2.9.0, haven't updated I'm a while, can I just install the latest rom over this? Or do I have to use a certain upgrade path?

    Are you s-off?

If you're s-off, you can flash latest firmware and latest ROM. You'll need to update twrp as well.

Your other option is to return your phone to stock, take the OTA that everyone is getting, then go through the process to flash Viper again.

Is the latest TWRP backwards compatible? As in, I'm on ViperROM 3.5.0 and wondering is it any harm upgrading TWRP for when I make the move to ViperROM 5.x.

Yup, latest version 3.0.3.0 or whatever it is is backwards compatible

I'm S-ON, upgrade sounds painful then so I'll leave it

It's probably something you'll want to do sooner or later. It's not too bad to do.

Personally, I just paid the $20 or whatever it is for s-off, so I don't need to worry about returning to stock.

I've had about every HTC flagship dating back to WinMo days, and this is the least confident I've been that HTC will compete with whatever Sammy rolls out in the next few months. I hope they come up with something special.

I feel for you with the M9, though. That device was poor.
