TBF, the M8 was one of the best low light shooters you can get.

On auto? I thought both were poor compared to Samsung and iPhone. But maybe better on manual settings?

M8 on auto (or using hdr) was always very good in low light. It had much larger pixels than any other phone at the time, and could use faster shutter speeds because of this.

I'd be surprised of any reviews that rated the S5 better than the M8 in low light.

What is the most straight forward way of going from viper10 3.5.0 to 4.2.0 being s-off?

I haven't looked into it to much but seems to be a bit more complex then usual. Soon as a see encryption mentioned i think uhhhhh :pac:

Basically im happy with how my phone is now i dont want to have to wipe anything or mess around with it all day! Is it straightforward and worth doing?

What about the 10, do you use auto on it. I was at a gig recently, and all phones around me took way better pics. They looked like a mix of apple, samsung and Sony.

Easiest way is just to dirty flash 4.2.0 while still on your old firmware and make sure you choose the right option to keep your fingerprint scanner working. You'd want to flash the latest debug version of twrp as well (I've heard there are issues with the later test version).

I do like the N ROM, especially the quick reply from pull-down, which I'd use a lot.

All this encryption stuff is a nightmare, though.

Does it mention the fingerprint scanner in the setup or is something I need to look out for?

What version of TWRP is best? I have an img of 3.0.2.7 here but haven't done anything with it yet.

During the ROM flash you have to select which firmware you're on in aroma so that the fingerprint sensor will work.

I'm using the 3.0.2.7 debug version of TWRP from a couple of days ago. It was in the downloads tab of captain throwbacks thread.

Any review I've seen would rate the 10 low light performance pretty much on par with S7/iphone/LG G5, so don't think there's anything fundamentally bad about it.

I go between using auto/auto hdr/hdr and pro mode (but just auto on pro). Depends on the situation, but I don't like messing around with settings too much.

Having problems with certain web pages on chrome taking forever to loads and general speeds on data and wifi being a bit rough.

For example this site can barely load lately on my phone since i updated to latest version of android.

Im on the latest firmware version so thats not the issue.

Is it the touch site? I find that close on unusable at the moment. The mobile site disappeared but clearing the cache fixed it.

what chargers have people bought as spares?
I would prefer to get an official HTC one, but I've been keeping my eye out for one sice day one, but they still aren't for sale. I really don't understand why not!

I got onto HTC through Facebook. No response.
Through a ticket support on their site. They came back to me. I enquirer why spare chargers haven't been for sale. They told me they were, till I called their bluff.
They sent me one free in the post. UK plug and all, arrived today via UPS shipped from Poland. Fair play to them

Something ive noticed getting worse over time but since i updated to latest version of Android im having problems with notifications coming threw on apps such as yahoo mail whatsapp viber etc.

I find most the time unless i actually go into the app im not getting them right away.

I dont know weather its a venom rom issue or an Android issue itself but its very annoying missing messages from people in particular.

Might be to do with battery optimisation maybe? I just have any apps that I want instant notifications set to Not Optimised.

Yeah I found doze to be a lot more aggressive on Nougat. Had to make sure battery optimisation wasn't on for a few apps.

I'm finding its causing major slow down with browser and lack of notification s.

I mean length time it's taking some sites to load never happened before the update.

Just on viper? I've only ever run that ROM, and no problems with websites at all. I would mainly use chrome for boards though, don't regularly use a lot of other sites.

Viber Whatsapp Yahoo mail others as well.

I use Chrome ive been using it a good while now but ive really noticed a few things have started to happen since the updates for android and venomrom.

I have the latest firmware and have everything installed as it should be as far as i can see fingerprint scanner etc works. Its a mystery to me and its driving me crazy.

You've tried with a clean ROM install?

No for obvious issues ha. Guess I'll have to try it at some point. Better work cause nothing I hate more then wiping my phone! 😛

Anyone know when Android 7 will start arriving for this phone or has anyone received the update yet?
Just got the HTC 10 for Christmas and still on 6.
    I'm with eir.

    Thanks

From reading around it seems that the US release wasn't perfect and basically it will be ready when it's ready. Unlocked one on eir here and nothing yet.

There are android N RUU's floating arounsd, but they don't pass safety net, so android pay doesn't work. This means it still hasn't been passed to Google for approval.

Generally android N is very good, though. Am having good battery life and I like some of the new features.

due an upgrade this year. have a One M9 ATM and quite like it so going to wait til the HTC 11 or whatever it will be called to come out

Quite old fashioned here but i hope HTC dont get rid of the headphone jack and we lose FM mode (I use the FM radio at matches etc)

Really hope the Battery, Camara and heating issue is better in new HTC phone compared to the M9

The FM radio is already gone in the HTC 10. I will upgrade from HTC 10 to the next model as soon as it comes out. However if they drop the headphone Jack, I won't be upgrading.

HTC have not met their own target of releasing Nougat within 90 days. Presumably the problems with the US roll-out has caused delays.

That's the main reason I might look to another manufacturer next time I'm buying. I'm disappointed with HTC on updates, I have to say. One of the reasons I went for the 10 was HTC's good reputation on updates, but they're going to get overtaken by Samsung at this rate.

And I know I could root and flash the likes of Venom to it, but I don't have the time or the patience for that sort of attention to a device any more. Again, a significant factor in my choosing the 10.

It's not even that I mind waiting a bit for Nougat, but I'm not exactly filled with confidence on getting 8/M in due course next year.

Still being on the August security patch isn't great, either.

I'm hugely loyal to HTC, mainly because I'm fairly heavily involved in the dev community. If it wasn't for that, I'd be going between different manufacturers. The standard is pretty high across the board now.

HTC is still the best all-rounder for me anyway. I get annoyed by certain things on different devices, such as having the buttons the wrong way around on a Sammy.

HTC are also due to release a new device very soon, so I'd say that had an impact on their dev team for updating the 10 to N.

Getting a bit annoyed at the wait for android N at this stage and it's been reported today that it's further delayed.

Has anyone installed viper 10? Is it worth it? Any negatives? Are battery life and camera performance on par?

Does the version on this page work on EU unlocked phones?

Yes, it does work with eu unlocked phones is the short answer

Venom is the only ROM I've run for years. You're not going to notice any huge difference in battery life from the ROM alone, but there is a pnp battery MOD available on the venom hub that a lot of users report big improvements with.

Thanks for the reply. I assume the camera remains the same with Viper? It's the one thing that used turn me off with Cyanogenmod. Any downsides or things to watch with it? Are the HTC bugs present on this ROM? Not overly bothered by warranty or anything like that.
