Ive seen snaps of the people at these " fashion factories " and its actual grown ups that are going, I though it would be all tweens!

Women in their 30s-40s. I saw my old Irish teacher there in one of her snaps! gas

Pippa and MArissa have very much an older following. I think that's why they are less inclined to talk about ads. If my mum (mid 50s) was interested in those factories and watching their snaps, she'd be far more inclined to just believe without question the "recommendations" and take them at face value.

Added her there to see the coat and see her plugging the Trend Beauty website which stocks LA Girl, saying they are the only place that you can get it in Ireland. This is nonsense as I have bought LA Girl from Beauty Bay very recently, so not sure you can take what she says at face value either.

What I don't get is why do people still follow this stuff. Forget about being an ad, it's complete oversaturation of stuff in any case and just encouraging mindless consumption. Is owning 15 palletes, loads of tat from Penny's and some dog food from Lidl new life ambition? You don't need to buy tickets for road show to be a sucker. It's enough to run to the shop the moment new tanning products, jeans or contouring pallete is announced.

Some people are interested in seeing new products. Especially new formulas etc. as it can lead you to something that will work for your skin that you may not be aware of. If a blogger does a review and describes the product in a bit of detail, that can be helpful.

Not everyone runs out to buy every item being flogged.

And that can be learned from watching bloggers snapping about tvs, carpets, Lidl and gym sessions. Btw talking to a pharmacist that knows their stuff might be more beneficial to learn what works with one's skin.

Well you can't screen for that content when you follow a beauty Snapchatter, that's the nature of the app.

Btw you don't need to speak to a pharmacist about a new foundation or such, what advice can they give about it's finish, longevity, comfort on the skin?

You don't seem to follow any of these bloggers judging from your posts so why follow a thread such as this? Hardly seems relevant to someone who doesn't follow any.

I think the majority of major irish "bloggers" are no longer bloggers. The constant promotion of brands and products is ridiculous and I actually now agree with the term "influencers" as it seems this is what most of them spend the day doing, pushing products and companies on to followers. The are advertisers more then anything. The lack of actual content or uniqueness is a joke. I like to follow people who share views and opinions and also genuine reviews of products or places. I have no interest in watching 30mins of snaps of a baby laughing or someone sweating on a thread mill especially if the person is not a pt or has any fitness or health background and therefore can't offer any information or advice. If any has any recommendations of bloggers similar to lauras views or the orlacle let me know 😀

I posted further back about maeve! She is really bad for not #ad but it took me ages to figure that out because of the way she is! Was liked she actually liked the stuff! She used be my girl crush (dunno why) but I'm slowly unliking her because she is coming across fake! Mainly because of the bot #ad anything!! I don't know what exactly she is? I do know tho she is doing a model training thing in London with anothe girl! She is also another of the everything is amazing crowd with freebies she is givin!

Over Xmas she talked a lot about this BFF thing she was doing but no mention of it in the lead up tho I didn't watch her snaps a few days that week!

I like Rosemary Maccabe, she's very similar to Laura's views.
I also like buynowbloglater but she seems to have taken a break from snapchat. I love her blog though.

I like Rosemary's blog too, even if I don't share all her views on the blogger freebie issue, that mooncup post had me in stitches!

Just seen this on pippa app re river islands new spring/summer releases.

Basically she gets commission from any sales used via the link on her page ooohhh I'm presuming they are all the same hence why bloggers are so forthcoming with links

Ps.... miss skinny tea is a diuretic so says my personal trainer

I like her too. She puts a lot of effort into actual blogging and not just promotion. I loved that she took the BT fashion show and put a high street spin on it, also the latest thoughts about criticism for influencers/online personalities. Shes got a very realistic attitude towards it which is sadly lacking in a lot

Most bloggers do this. It's why if they're asked on snapchat where a certain outfit is from they'll say 'details on Instagram now' because then they use an affiliate link so they earn money from it. (Side note: people calling it 'the gram' need to stop. Now.)

Rosemary (I mention her so much, I must sound like a proper fan girl :o) mentions it loads on her blog and lets people know she uses affiliate links. Lots of other bloggers aren't as forthcoming though.

I had heard that, and that it can interfere with the pill (which anyone knows if you get an upset stomach or the runs, it can affect your pill) however they say on their website neither are true... *shrugs*... who to believe ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,624 ✭✭✭✭meeeeh

Of course it's diuretic. There is no magic tea that will make you slim. At best they will have caffeine which has minimal effect and all the weight loss will come from diet that is recommended with the tea. They are one of the oldest dieting scams.

And they are perfect product to push through by bloggers. If you don't #ad it, it's just the deluded blogger making dieting claims. Similarly Rosana Davidson is peddling a whole pile of unproven nonsense but as long as it's her opinion and not advertising she doesn't need to prove her claims. I think rules around health claims in advertising become a lot stricter (Actimel had to abandon their immunity boosting claims) so I would imagine small time influencers are perfect vehicle to push through different 'magic' foods or drinks.

I've seen people go on about Love Lauren being good etc, however she doesn't #ad much either. Today Tara Make up #ad the gym gear, however Lauren didn't. She does a lot of work for pennys.

I love "buy now blog laters blog". She was great on snapchat, but hasn't been on in recent months due to the over saturation of bloggers on snapchat. She says it like it is.

Right, don't know if any of you have heard of the blogger/youtuber Clisare (I don't follow her but as far as I know, she started the Fact's channel as well on YT) ANYWAY. I am getting married next year and I am a part of a few wedding groups on facebook and I seen this pop up and I just cringed.

Basically asking if there are companies interested in working with her for her wedding.

EDIT: Tried to attach the image but won't work

I don't know why she has a following. She's not funny and asking for companies to work with her for her wedding is pathetic.

tbh I do think some Irish "bloggers" are the new version of the Irish "models" remember the ones that would promote everything by turning up in a bikini and that supposedly qualified them as a model? A good proportion of "bloggers" now only use snapchat or Instagram regularly and their review consist of "Ohhh look what I was sent, it's amazing" or a robbed pic with a #goals caption. Their "reviews" are no more insightful then a random we on the street.
I think snapchat and some peoples reliance on it is detrimental to blogging in general. Even if you can thousands of people viewing your snapchats, how many just blaze through the snaps? Who are you snapping for?

Snapchat is to be avoided tonight unless endless snaps by everyone of the same Benefit event interests you.

 "I always buy this myself"

    well done.....

So make up fairy can buy the cheapest product herself and then show 3 image cleaners which are like 40 euro each and a clarasonnic. What normal person can afford 3 different image cleansers.... Myself and my pals are lucky if we can afford the cleanser and moisturiser.

The clarasonic is like 220E - that's almost my rent for a month (I live in cork and only renting a room btw)

I have an Aldi fake clarasonic thing which i bought for 16E and it does the job just fine!
