I mght be the only one but I really like Sarah. Her approach appeals to me, I don't mind more gentle humor that doesn't have to be controversial all the time. Maybe she is more suited to female audience and considering how male dominated radio is there is no harm in that. (I find tv reviewer extremely annoying).

And before there is complete meltdown, I loved listening to Yates but Hook with his harping about same subjects just annoys me. When Michael Graham comes across as the saner one it's time for retirement. So I for one am not sorry that Hook was replaced by a woman in her thirties.

Funnily enough what puts me off Sarah most is her overdoing her "male" traits. The over the top argumentative tone in her interviews and her general 'coldness' appears like she's trying too hard to compete with the boys.

A bit more natural back and forth between the two hosts would be very welcome imo.

It's not often i've to listen to traffic radio, but when I do, I find the not only the off topic chat to be utter sh1te, but the music too is often bo11ix. I tune in for traffic, not the other cr@p. If they did traffic updates only, I think we all win.

I think Sarah McInerney has a sexy voice and is quite likable, but she's not a good radio host. She's much better as a pundit/journalist. I used to like watching her on Tonight with Vincent Browne.

The lad Chris is intelligent but a bit annoying. He does lower the tone and makes itna bit studenty, talking about his 'experience' a lot.

As a duo they dont work and are like two giggly eejits.

Who's the tv reviewer, I've heard her before. Didn't like her then either, but still better than Matt Coopers smarmy smartarse Patrick Frayne who should stick to the writing really

Same applied to him with Yates.

If they are supposed to podcast the 'highlights' maybe there aren't any....have noticed the same with a lot of the other Newstalk shows recently (Tom Dunne etc) perhaps they are cost cutting even more..........

Tbf to both of them, they are still finding their way with this show.

I actually quite like Sarah, I like her voice and tone, and maybe I'm a geek but I quite like a lot of her jokes & humour.Granted she does get caught out too frequently a little under researched on her guest/topic ,and it's quite clearly winging it. (Comparing her to Matt Cooper or Pat Kenny say, who rarely if ever are caught asking a clueless question of a guest)

Chris was excellent with Ivan, but that kind of Batman and Robin dynamic worked well for them. I still like him, but there's no doubt that the ease of banter and interaction between he and Sarah doesn't flow nearly easy enough, and the show feels very contrived as a result.

I'm not sure what the answer is, maybe they need to go out for dinner together, get hammered, and end up sleeping with each other or something to break the ice, so they can then play out a 'Harry Met Sally ' type relationship on air. God knows.!! :-)

"Trump is saying that you are to attack that person that is next to you if they are not American" - Sarah McInerney.
Such rubbish, he simply DID NOT say that...

Gas listening to Chris, though, he's such a child when he doesn't get his way... throwing another tantrum now.

I stopped listening to these 2 gobsh1tes a couple of months back but couldn't resist tuning in today. When I heard her say this I laughed. What a whinging bag of crap that woman is. Her bias is, for s radio presenter - I darent say journalist - quite despicable.
Back to the less annoying Matt Cooper.

To be fair to her she was comedy gold tonight. As she got shriller and more obnoxious I'm sure I could the sound of her stamping her foot in frustration at Trump being president. Chris was Chris, vanilla in the extreme.

Another sign of Newstalk going downhill with these two I won't listen to them I'll tune into Matt or Radio 1!
I knew she would throw a wobbler today!

Bluetooth on , tune in app on , bbc radio 4 , radio 2 or heart selected depending on my mood. No drivel , crap jokes or jingles to listen to.

I was a regular Hook listener but I just can't listen to this. I just listen to Radio 1 now for straight reporting.

Aren't they supposed to at least pretend to be objective?

They'd want to be careful, somebody could report them to the BAI.

They don't need to be balanced on international stuff. We don't elect American president.

The Chris lad just said that 'she confronted her, but not in a confrontational way' ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Talking about a court case today.

I'm sure if you took the knives off these animals, they'd be grand.

Probably start negotiating out their scumbag differences.

I just caught that on the way home from work.....have to say an Amnesty for knives is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Anyone can get a knife from home/supermarket and do damage.
Until they start giving proper prison sentences for knife crime things ain't gonna improve.

A complete shambles today with Sarah McInerney behaving like a guest rather than a contributor.

She does have a nice voice. I'm hoping that, with time, she'll find her forte. It's a hard act to follow after Moncrieff, who's one of the best presenters on any radio show. I hate all the ads Newstalk have, though. I read a very good article on advertising once, and it said that the optimum time for ads breaks to run and be most effective is two minutes. Newstalk ad breaks can be up to four minutes long. I wonder if the companies who pay for them realise that they're not getting value for money.

I like her voice too but she is rubbish as a presenter.

As regards Ads, I would say Newstalk advertisers get great value for their money as the news programmes are awash with medical slots and scare stories - even down to Dr. Ciara Kelly's new "Alive and Kicking" show and the bulk of their Ads seem to be for medical insurance and products.
