Yes it's utter drivel. While Ivan regularly annoyed me on breakfast show I always enjoyed him and now that Chris is without a strong co presenter he really is quite boring.
Sarah, however, takes the biscuit. She is awful. She's rude, unprofessional and completely out of her depth. I strongly dislike her, I don't normally have this reaction but I can't bear her. Have changed to Matt Cooper.

We no longer listen to it either. A colleague put it well the other day....it was like listening to two transition year students doing school radio. Really amateurish and just plain annoying.

It's not often i've to listen to traffic radio, but when I do, I find the not only the off topic chat to be utter sh1te, but the music too is often bo11ix. I tune in for traffic, not the other cr@p. If they did traffic updates only, I think we all win.

I'm not sure if it's nerves, but I don't believe I've heard Sarah read a single link without stumbling over a word or more
If it was school, I'd be sending her for extra help with her reading.

Being stuck beside that fountain of incoherence can hardly help in fairness.

Very unfair feedback on Sarah. I think she does exactly what she's paid to do, with a nice accent to boot

On the other hand Chris Donoghue has 'the best boy in class' syndrome

Chris strikes me as an asexual virgin with zero life experience

I think they missed the dynamic that made Chris and Ivan good, while I don't necessary agree with either of them on many topics, having two people with different points of view made for better radio. With Chris and Sarah reading off the same playbook it just sounds preachy and conceited. Maybe even if they were looking at things from another angle it might be interesting but it's the same tired left wing on social justice issues, centrist on political issues that is everywhere in Irish media.

Nothing illustrates the dictum "Improvement means deterioration" like the Newstalk changes. Each change is worse than it's forebear.

Surprised at the negative response to the show.

Has its faults but by and large is well paced, interesting, and a bit of a change from the staid output from RTE1.

Presenters could get on your wick a bit but what presenters don't?

The Sarah one is a bit of a 'weapon' in my opinion, but I'm sure she will settle in and be less aggressive in time.

More to do would be my verdict, time needed.

The fact that Sarah cannot go a minute without tripping over her words makes it sound very amateur. I like her, but this annoys me an awful lot.

But then, the words comes "Henry McKean asked..." channel changes.

They sent him out to Maynooth in the aftermath of that shocking attack on an 18 year old girl yesterday.

Jeez, stick with the lightweight, sub-Louis Theroux jazz.

    P.S. I find Sarah's accent very alluring.

Henry McKean makes me reach for the off button at speeds which would put Usain Bolt to shame.

Some wagon doing the TV review sneering at people who bought in boom times "Negative Equity Fools" was her term.

Sounded like a bumbling fat mess tbh

They already have the presenters.. Just need to rejig the timetable.

    Ian Guider 6-9
Shane Coleman (no need for the Ivan impersonator) 9-12
    Johnathan Healy12-3
    Sean Moncrief 3-6
    Off the ball 6-9
    Tom Dunne 9-12
    Thru the night 12-6

No room for hook or transition year students.

Ian Guider doesn't have a voice for radio so I'd not give the gig to him. Nor Jonathan Healy. I thought they were getting rid of him .

    They ought to.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere here that there had been some sort of workshop held by Newstalk. And that Jonathan Healy was one of the most disliked presenters. Maybe if he toned down the hyperbole, the self-righteousness and the blaming everyone for everything, he might be tolerable

Guider hasn't worked there for ages.

Holy God, amateur hour at its finest with Sarah there and Richard Boyd Barrett. She has no control of herself at times and thinks she's Paxman by being all edgy and repeating her questions over and over. Politicians never ever answer an question straight, you'd think she would have coped on to that by now.

First time hearing the show with new presenters and thought it was a desperate interview.

They drove me to Today FM and I can't feckin' stand Matt Cooper.

I enjoy listening to Drive. They've some interesting topics that are not typically covered on other stations, especially at this time. I enjoy the movie slot on a Wednesday, good banter with the 2 contributors. Chris is likable and has solid experience. Sarah appears to have less experience in terms of radio presenting but a strong journalistic background.
I am intermittently amused by their constant introductions, "this is Drive with Sarah McInerney and Chris Donoghue".

You should actually submit that to them. I think any reasonable person would go in for that.

Ian Guider no longer works for Newstalk (Vincent Wall replaced him as NT Business Editor). Ian is currently employed as the Markets Editor at The Sunday Business Post.

Sarah's interview with RBB yesterday was just a total carcrash. I was quite surprised that RBB didn't get up and leave, as you could hear the frustration in his voice whenever he was allowed to get a word in. She really is out of her depth on radio, IMO. She just proves that not all print journalists can transition to radio and make a success of it. Chris is at best, average but bearable. Maybe Richard Chambers or Kieran Cuddihy should be given the chance instead of Sarah? Switching to Matt Cooper is fast becoming more appealing by the day.

Who was she interviewing yesterday about minimum alcohol pricing? She just would not stop interrupting him. It was painful. She would ask a question, he would get a few words in and she was either shouting him down or just badgering. Really really bad interview.

Maybe if he bloody answered the question asked then, save us all the frustration.
