    I doubt it, the lines are still being worked on. They started wiring in the splice box's today from my gate back towards the exchange, they got a few of them done but not them all. Also I am not entirely sure that all of the ducting is fully connected to the wiring on the poles just yet. This will probably all get finished this week.

    Even if everything was finished today, there would still be a month of downtime before going live, and then anther 3/4 weeks wait once ordered for an installation. Probably be end of January or early February before I'll get to have the connection in the house, all depends on the date the exchange goes live.

    The date for my exchange was originally Autumn 2016, then got moved to Autumn/Winter 2016, then got moved to Winter 2016/17 which it's currently on.

    hmmm doesn't bode well for me then! No dates on the exchange and not a sign of anything happening here, so chances of getting it in 2017 are slim to none.

    There probably waiting to finish the other exchanges,there slow updating the map.The second FTTC exchange in summerhill still has no date for going live so know the feeling.I think that stalling the FTTH rollout in summerhill.

    Is there any updated list of ftth rollout.

    My exchange has been upgraded, but it's only fttc for the nearby houses (rural exchange)

    I'm on the blue line, but too far to benefit from the latest upgrade.
    I need fibre to be hung from the 4km of poles from exchange to my house.

    It's a disaster to be stuck on 2.5mbs when I've a cabinet 300m away but I'm directly connected to the exchange - the worst of all worlds really. This blue line is my only hope but it's happening at a snails pace. I had 16mbs in previous house 10 years ago - oh those were the days!

    that's really bad luck alright, is there anything you can do in order to get your line changed to the cabinet 300 meters away?

    Maybe nothing happening in your area (nor mine), but the roll out is progressing quite quickly.

    No I've asked a few times and the answer I get is that I'll need to wait for the blue line. It's been 3 years since the cabinet went in. 4g is good here because I'm close to the city, but it's all over the place in terms of speed because of the proximity to population and contention - not to mention all of my neighbours who're in the same boat and most of them don't bother with a landline, because of the rubbish service. Very few house seem to be able to avail of the cabinet fibre - so I've no idea whats going on there I've asked several times but all I get is the direct exchange BS answer, they refuse to connect me to it, so I've given up.

    hopefully you'll get connected 2017. On Saturday I saw KNN working on the blue lines in Trim, it's down for early/mid 2017, so they seem to be moving onto the next series of exchanges.

    It's important to remember that premises going live is the final stage of a major infrastructure construction project that has started from virtually nothing apart from a few poles beside the road.
    When you consider the sheer amount that needs to be done, they're moving remarkably fast.

    Actually they've already done a lot of the core work. I'm surprised they're hasn't been a lot more progress in the last 2 months since FTTC has come to a head. I think the few poles you talk about could be the slow part around my neck of the woods anyways.

    Bit of work being done around Kinvara. Not sure how much is fibre related. Three different groups, trees being cut by a tractor with a huge blade on the way to my house, some new manholes and cables being laid on a different road out of town. Most telling is a single guy working on underground cabling in the village with a KN on behalf of Eir sign.

    At least something is happening.

    It is definitely the fiber prep crew working around the village alright. The guys doing the man holes are now on my stretch of road building a new man hole at the section where the phone line goes underground for about 400 meters. I checked where they were yesterday and there is a new man hole with black ducting/cable tied to the pole.

    Tree cutters are nearly done on my stretch too, it will be done today I reckon they are making good time.

    There won't be much more prep work, I reckon they are about half way through the village.

    I just play the waiting game now for the cable crew to arrive. But I am hoping they are just going to do the FTTC (listed for Spring 2017) and FTTH (Spring/mid 2017) at the same time once all the cabling is in place.


    Out of interest what speed package is everyone going for? I can't see the need for the full 1GB but it will be so hard not to take it just to do the speedtests all the time :D

    that all sounds like the prep work that was in my area since April. You may have a few months wait for the wiring etc to get done at the prep work is often done in stages especially if there is much ducting involved. Hopefully now in 2017 the wait between prep work and the wiring won't be as long as the waits during 2016, now that they are making much faster progress.

    There is also a photo of WP1 Start pole where the ducting and pole connections combine.

    Another photo of the splice box's in place beside my house.

    Note the wire at the very top of each pole is the Fiber. If you see a cable like that near your home then your wired for FTTH.

    Nice work, Gonzo. The splice box/cable tidy is way nicer than the Siro version with the ugly stainless brackets.

    yeah, I wasn't expecting it to be that tidy, the wires are almost hidden from view, very tidy job indeed.

    Also the ducting work has been very tidy as well, even across the outside of peoples drives and gardens has been very clean. Any upturned soil had grass seeds sprayed on when finished.

    Also when they start working on the Ratoath exchange there is one or two cases where they will send a blue line through fields, taking a shortcut in order to get to some houses. A few months ago I thought that had to be wrong, but now I realize it has to be correct as this is a very similar approach to what B4RN do in north England.

    I guess they do something similar if they win any of the NBP.I was up at Trim going towards navan seeing them working there way through Trim saw them with orange cables KNN vans.I just wish they would start summerhill the wait killing me and with dates keep getting push back it annoying as hell at this stage NBP be started before see any work up my area.

    The telling thing is, none of the guys working near me are KN or Eir. They seem to have brought in a few additional companies.

    Hopefully this points to their desire to speed things up and hit their dates, and not that they are incredibly far behind.

    So when they are going across fields, are these new runs or existing copper runs? Aerial or underground?
