The best way to check whether it's on purpose or not are what happens with the controls.

If you turn the monitor on it's side to play in vertical mode and the controls are mapped then it would be on purpose.

If the controls are mapped to control the game sideways and not mapped for vertical screen orientation then someone done ****ed up!

Picked up Steam Link for cheap in Gamestop recently, it was down to 22 euro and i have to say its an excellent bit of kit.

I can play my PC games from a cosey couch downstairs on a 49" TV while my PC is up in a cold attic with its tiny 24" monitor.

Only a bit of lag when running graphically intensive games, but im still using a relic of a core 2 quad, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD5700 so its to be expected.

Surprised how lag free other games are, i finished Papers Please with it.

The Wake on Lan feature built in is excellent, it will power on the PC even if its shutdown once its plugged into the wall and you have a static IP.

Saves me trekking up a stairs and a ladder everytime i need to turn it on or shut it down.

Can also use it as a remote desktop by minimizing the Big Screen.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked also, using mine wired with those homeplug things. Playing on a bigger screen with better sound than my crappy pc speakers is nice. Couldn't get used to the Steam Controller though so stuck with an Elite and a usb extension cable. Works great.

Defo worth a purchase as long as you have plenty of games that play better with a controller versus a keyboard & mouse. Also, Darius Burst on a big screen is glorious!

I tried Civ V with the Steam Controller but I found it fiddly and the text was tiny on the tv, wasn't arsed trying to find a fix so just stuck to controller type games.

Yeah. The Steamlink is really good. Just one of those bits of tech that just works.

I stuck a wireless receiver for xbox 360 controllers and it just works straight away. Same for my Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse.

Deadly! Gonna pick one up.

I'll have to use Wi-Fi as my Wi-Fi is in a different room so wires would be a massive pain, and overall inconvenant.
What's the story with these Wi-Fi boost plugs I keep hearing about? Recommend to use for Steam Link?

Go with a powerline adapter. Very easy to setup and works very well usually.
I had issues with wifi in my garage as the house walls are unusually thick, installed a powerline plug and now have really fast wifi out there as well as ethernet should i need it.

I got the "TP-LINK TL-WPA8630P KIT AV1200" if thats any help.

Yeah do as Steve mentions - get the TP-Link adapters (the homeplug thingies

). They come in all different specs (and prices to match), some with wifi extenders or not, or plug pass-throughs (as they recommend you plug them directly into the wall socket, not into an extension cable) etc.

Argos also sell them if you prefer going bricks & mortar.

I found performance inconsistent on WiFi, and that's with the router, PC and TV all within a few feet of each other (but inconvenient for wiring). Think I'll need the powerlink alright to get the most out of it, or just run an almighty Ethernet cable around the back of the room!

They say not to plug them in to extension cables and whatnot, but I have the transmitter hooked up to a extension tower and it works perfectly. It's slightly fancier than a standard extension cable, so maybe thats why it works.
On the receiving end in the garage it's plugged into a multi plug adapter, so basically an extension lead.

So, if you have to use an extension lead it might be ok.

Extensions leads can have various filters which could block the signals so its easier to just say unsupported..

No matter how good your wifi is I still find it complete arse and inconsistent. Moved to powerlinks and never looked back.

I meant to plug it in directly to the mains, but just got lazy once it worked.
Here's how it sits now, messy but ok until i move the cables and plugs under the desk, someday soon, maybe

My wifi is 802.11ac so I got a pretty good performance out of it. But it does drop every now and then.

Appartment is wired with CAT5, so I may try hook up the PC at some point

You can also sync a Dualshock 4 to it easily without any hacking necessary.

It has great support for controllers.

I've ordered a small wireless keyboard without numpad and a mouse for use on a small coffee table in the room, to play games that need them.

As for the homeplugs, Netgear are now doing them and seem to get better speeds and reviews, even thoug I have the TP Link Powerline series I'd go with Netgear if i had my time back.

The powerline ones have a an electrical socket built in so you can plug your multi socket tower or adapter into the homeplug itself rather than the other wah around thus minimizing interference.

Ah, it was just a temporary setup when i got the new desk. Just haven't got around to sorting it out.

For those who want an XRGB Framemeister mini, it might be an idea to pick one up in the next 6 months or so, or earlier even in case of stock issues.
It looks like the main IC used in the box will no longer be available from Feb 2017.

40 US, so about 37 Euro. Not too bad if the pressing is good and the general package is well presented (artwork etc). It's 180 gram vinyl, which doesn't equal high quality, but is a good start at least.

Yeah but when you consider that the Data Discs releases are about half that price it's not great.
