Yeah but when you consider that the Data Discs releases are about half that price it's not great.

Well, Data Discs generally master in-house from recordings from games, arcade machines or wherever they can get the music they need in the highest quality. Whereas this will be recorded live from an orchestral performance in January. So I'm guessing some of the extra costs are going towards that 64 piece orchestra.
I dont think its too overpriced, maybe if it was 5 Dollars less it would be about right.

Anyone ever open up a parcel motel locker to find it completely empty?

Just happened to me a moment ago in the Bray one. Absolutely fuming as it was a Christmas pressie for someone.

To make matters worse, there's no contact number so I have to sit and wait while they respond to a ticket!

There's strange things afoot with PM right now.
I had two items arrive on Friday night and, though I've been told since yesterday that they are in their depot, it has yet to arrive.
They have said that they have delays of 24 hours for packages.
After they lost and later found one of mine, I think the answer is use tracking, as that's the only way they'll accept liability for losing it. But that undermines the whole point of Parcel Motel, which is cheap/free and no tracking!

Aye think I'm a bit nervy this year more than ever with pm but at least the one pressie I am waiting for the kids is more of a filler than uber important.I've heard there are few delays but I haven't heard of anyone opening a locker for it to be empty .

Edit :some signed for today let's see how long till it shows up

i seem to be getting the pictures of the parcels but they are taking 3-4 days from Finglas to Celbridge.
I thought i only got pics when it arrived up north but they are now taking them when they arrive in Finglas

I got an email from Parcel Motel to visit this mythical 'van' tomorrow to pick up some parcels I have. Most lockers must be full most of the time.

I'm surprised they haven't implemented the 24 hour thing like last year.

It's definitely very busy though. First time ever I've found myself queuing to use the the thing.

Since I set my motel to my house address months ago I’ve had a lot less issue with pmotel. It costs a couple euro more, but there’s still a decent saving with most stuff and less hassle on top (which is worth euro or two :))

Still wouldn’t use them in December for anything important though after the debacle a couple years ago.

Popped into A&C games (of game chasers fame) for a look today. Nice selection of stuff but very expensive. $130 for a yellowed SNES and a 3rd party controller, $999 for panzer dragoon saga and $100 for an original game boy.

    Hooray
Looks like my pc tried to end it's own life.
Blue screen of infinite sadness followed by Please Insert Boot disk
Opened it up on the instructions of Kerbdog to see a hole burnt through the power cable to the SATA HDD.
I'm hoping it's some random problem that can be fixed with using the other HDD power supply rather than the hdd actually toasted.

So instead of switching the power cable which requires 2 seconds of work, you took time out to make that post? :p

Theyre the team behind pier solar for the Megadrive. Project Y is a side scrolling beat em up and Project N is a Zelda clone

I would want my money back at this stage.

    The harddrive is toast :(
Seems it ceased to be and, in it's death throes, tried to set fire to the inside of the PC and, hence, the house....
    Bugger...
Luckily, I have another PC on standby, as built by Kerbdog back in August.
Sadly, I haven't backed anything up, since August either, which is unfortunate.

So, the hdd isn't making a peep when hooked up to a powersupply, and the main board of it is suspected.
    What now, any advice?
I saw a site online and they were looking at €500 plus to attempt a recovery.
Anyone know of something, somewhere a little more... cost effective?

If the HDD is cheesed you're looking at a bloody expensive repair. Unless the data is worth hundreds/priceless then forget about it

    Is it a ssd?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,766 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

Nope, and it's pretty much dead.
Last time I backed it up was the latter days of August.
    Bugger.

On a brighter note, I see the Indo is playing a blinder, with Rogue One apparently now the 9th Star Wars movie according to their reviewer Paul Whittington and Super Mario Run due out, this week, on both iOS and Android, which is bound to be a surprise to Nintendo. Good old INM, keeping the standards up.

To be pedantic, he's not technically incorrect...

You could always throw the Ewoks and Holiday Special in the mix too :pac:

Looks like his research extended to googling it, then a spot of cutting and pasting.

Those Ewok movies, the pervy Uncle of the SW universe that no one wants to admit still hangs around.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,695 ✭✭✭DinoRex

The Holiday Special is still technically canon as they never removed it because doing so would be admitting it existed in the first place.

Replace the mainboard of the hard drive.

It can take a bit of seaching but you can find used mainboards for sale on ebay and the likes.

Hard drive "PCB" yields the best results.
If you cant find a mainboard on its own you could try and find a faulty clicking hard drive of the same model and use the mainboard from that.

Good idea, I'll do a search and see what's out there, nothing to lose, thanks!
