And some people only believe what they want to believe e.g. someone's good fortune being a fix or in some way not kosher...

I for one do have my suspicions..all of which will be proved false if they do Nova Noise again, but I can nearly guarantee they will never do that competition again

Having heard the promo I'd have my suspicions too, all seemed a bit forced.

Look folks, I know the people who won the prize and you could not meet nicer people. It was 100% genuine, nobody on a grassy knoll or in a book depository working the controls. I have no doubt that it was deliberately dragged out to build up the tension and prize fund, but I can guarantee that the win was 100% genuine. I wish them nothing but the best and I hope Nova can come up with a far more interesting competition to replace this one...

Jesus Nova really going the whole nine yards with the "nothing to see here" spiel

    I reckon lyverbird1 is a mole.

I've got nothing more to do with Radio Nova than as a regular listener but if you want to believe I created a profile four years before you created yours in order to deal with future false claims, then the problem is most definitely not mine, the station's or the competition winners'...

The "creaking" is the cup dispenser shaking after the cups were thrown in.

That was a complete pile of shoite altogether.

I'd say KB is lovin all this attention..taking away from the fact that its probably the only "rock" station in the world that can play Billy Idol twice in 2 hours..just dreadful ..

Wheatus and alien ant farm played today.

It has officially lost me as a listener now.

I listened yesterday for first time in a while and I heard Michael Hutchins Inxs twice within two hours

Yeah i heard that too...Do they think most people just tune and out all day or what...or maybe they do.........how on earth can the programmers not spot these things...

One thing that annoys me is the repeated mention of the singer's name as well as the band name. "That was Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits" or "Jim Kerr and Simple Minds".

Dunno why it bugs me, but it does.

I fail to understand how many people who say they don't like Nova obviously listen very regularly then come on here to complain. If you hate it so much don't listen.

Only reason I follow this thread myself is in case Joe / Cathal from TXFM get a slot. The drivel being posted here is very trying.

It's a strange universe we inhabit, that of the Nova listener. Personally speaking, since there are no alternatives on FM for fans of rock music, I soldier on with them in the (possibly naive) hope that things will improve. It's not like they're an awful station. They can and do produce some good programming from time to time. And I think the issues that most people are discussing could be easily addressed. Like I pointed out in an earlier post, they should make use of the vast catalogues of artists who they already play, instead of the same two or three tracks per artist. Also, the silliness in the mornings is unnecessary (ie: balloon bursting to setting old underpants on fire). I've no problem with dialogue, I openly welcome it given that I opt to listen to FM radio as opposed to an mp3. Nevertheless, it should be relevant to the station's musical identity (although Nova are probably still trying to work out what exactly that identity is?) Lastly, don't get me started on that noise. It's finally over and they should keep it that way. But that's just my two cents.

Ehh...i for one dont listen regularly, i listen sometimes, or when i'm stuck somewhere with it on ..you know who i like and dislike at this stage..
I too (really) miss TXFM....god i miss them....
The drivel IS trying , but it emphasises the problems we hear with Nova...hence the thread...;)
Luckily i have Christmas fm to listen to now..:D

I don't mind most of the music nova play and regularly have it on in the car but the inane drivel that they come out with on the morning show and pat Courtney have me flicking through stations till music comes back on.

The only thing going for it really is that at least a good proportion of the songs are decent. Decent songs aside its become another bland station with the same dull offerings from dislikable staff

If they just played a good range of music they'd clean up.

But it's the same bands over and over

Queen, AcDc, lightening seeds, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith

I think you've hit the nail on the head, it's a station to dip in and out of. You'd go mad if you listened all day every day

I tuned in the other day during Pat Courtney's slot and I lasted less than 5 minutes. An abomination that he's employed and John Cadell ain't.

The play listing is wrong for the genre of music.
Repetition is fine for a chart or contemporary music station but not for a so called classic rock station.

There is so much they can choose from. Even the regular artists they play have plenty of music. Metallica for instance, all Nova plays is Nothing Else Matters or Enter Sandman. They have tons of stuff.
