I watched Suicide Squad at the weekend. What an utter clusterf*ck of a movie. You can tell from the opening 5 minutes that it has been completely butchered in the editing room.

The opening scenes are of the authorities assembling the criminals. No preamble, just straight into the meeting that featured heavily in the trailer. The story just leaps forward at times without explanation.

Aside from the editing though....it's shiiiiiiit.

Jared Leto gives a performance that would get you thrown out of Billie Barry's. He was utter muck.

Saw one of those Captain America movies, it was awful.

The first one I'd imagine then. That was muck. The others were just standard enough Marvel fare. Not bad films, but not great by any means either. Got a lot more love than they really deserved IMO.

I dunno, it was so terrible I can't remember what it was about. Most superhero moves are rubbish.

I'd say you could fit the list of all things that awec actually likes on a post-it.

Well maybe if Hollywood actually concentrated on developing some good superhero movies rather than just trying to throw money at them they'd be better.

I mean, they've known for years that superhero movies were going to be big and now they're panicking when the only ones they have are rubbish.

    :D

Die Hard. Now there's a movie series.

I also like beer and chocolate.

This forum just brings out the worst in me Teferi.

Hollywood doesn't care about the quality of these kinds of films, or any films really, they care about bums on seats, and they'll keep churning out the same old same old until the public stop handing over cash to them.

Top 10 biggest grossing films of the year so far. Captain America: Civil War has taken over 1 billion world wide. Two of the worst reviewed films of the year, Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, currently sitting 6th and 8th respectively.

Hollywood producers don't care, but actors and directors certainly do.

Christopher Nolan is probably the most bankable director in Hollywood at the moment. He could **** on a plate and I'd probably pay to go and see it. He made two widely released films before Batman Begins, but it really catapulted him to mainstream fame. So there is no excuse for making **** movies.

Wasn't expecting rugby in the OT thread, went right over my head, like a pass from Paul Marshall.

BvS and SS had the potential to be good films so people will go to see what they're like.

I personally tend to stay away from reviews for big name films, I'd only flick through them for smaller less marketed ones.

That's my point though. Certain properties, Marvel, DC, Star Wars, come with ready made box office. People will always go to see them, and buy the toys for Christmas, so there is no real necessity from the studios to make good films. I could be wrong but I think BvS and SS both had review embargoes on them until the last minute, studios clearly knew they weren't good.

It's when you're creating an entirely new product that you need to put effort into it.

    Elektra

I forgot she got her own film. Made all the more surprising by the fact the Daredevil film it was spawned from was also rubbish.

There were parts of that film I definitely enjoyed. Two parts in particular.

Deadpool is probably the only super hero movie I've liked in the past 5 years.

I agree. I take them for what they are, big dumb fun. I expect action, stunts, CGI and some funny/cheesey one-liners and some hot women. And that's what they generally deliver.

Deadpool is class. Loved Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant Man too. Ive only started watching superhero movies again in the last year or so. The Superman and Spiderman reboots turned me off for years

I thought the Superman one with Russell Crowe in it was pretty well done.

I detest ALL of the Spiderman movies ever made...can't put my finger on why. Toby Maguire definitely did nothing for me, and who was that puck ugly yoke of a thing that was cast with him? Eye candy she ain't.

    (Also I have arachnophobia)

Kirsten Dunst. What the hell is wrong with you, she's hot.

I haven't watched any of the Superman movies after Superman Returns which was gak

What the f*ck is with having a Lois Lane who is clearly 10 years older than Superman? Brutal casting to shoehorn a big name actress into the role.
