Does the S6 give you RAW files? I am not a fan of post processing and being able to export in raw would be all i really need as bet your bottom dollar I can extract a better image than what most phones will show me...

No interest in buying you understand just asking. My One plus 3 is all the cam I need.

It's possible but you have to use an add on application. I only had an S6 for a short time before it went for a swim :/ hence why i have a redmi note 3 Pro now. The one I'm selling is my partner's, she just uses Jpeg for casual shots, but it's very impressive at that. I don't think i'd bother using RAW on a phone cam tbh, I deal with RAW from the dslr every other day, and i do love post processing - it's like a therapy! :D but phone images ... nah. You can still enhance decent Jpegs in the likes of Lightroom without needing to use RAW.

Been using this device for nearly two weeks and really am amazed at the quality of it. Unlocked bootloader, installed twrp, updated rom to mm miui 8 and rooted to apply adblocker. Have to say it's smooth, lag free and battery is astounding. Currently on over 8 hours screen time, using quite heavily and still nearly 10% left.
Originally planned on installing twrp in order to flash cyanogenmod but truly taken aback at how good miui 8 is. Very customisable and smooth rom although I am using google now launcher as not fond of the layout of apps on the miui launcher

Can you post some of the guides you followed for customizations?

We there many ads popping up?

Not sure if allowed post full links here so remove the brackets and 1 from the first and brackets and number 2 for the second guide

    (1en.miui.com/thread-307744-1-1.html
    xaomitips.com/guide/install-twrp-v3-0-0-on-redmi-note-3/)
    (2http://xiaomitips.com/guide/install-twrp-v3-0-0-on-redmi-note-3/)

They seem complicated but really are not. About 20-30 mins should have it all done.

There are absolutely no pop ups as this is the proper miui os v8 and not one that has been customised by a seller.

To arrange apps neatly in a drawer I installed the "Google now launcher" from the playstore and it sets itself up.

If you are stuck drop me a pm and will be happy to help.

I use Google launcher on mine too. I don't get into all that boot/ROM stuff, just use phones as they are, because I'd no doubt pox it up. But yeah, google launcher is nice, clean, simple and gives you that app drawer.

I have Nova launcher on mine and it's 100% buttery.

What I love about Nova is they are always adding what google do asap. So already nova has the 'long press a shortcut to get new options' that google just added to the nexus/pixel..

Anyone on the official Marshmallow beta? Can't say I'm overly happy that miui 8 still running lollipop...

EDIT: about it being like butter, it runs google music better than my oneplus 3... and has a honking headphone amp that's top notch. make of that what you will.

I'm using the marshmallow miui 8 global beta (6.10.13) and absolutely love it. Battery is immense and happier now that I figured out you can lock apps such as Viber from the recent apps screen so that they then don't close when you clear recent apps

Using nova launcher can you use a digital clock widget? That's the only thing i notice using google now launcher if u use a digital clock widget it won't update after sort time so gave to use an analogue clock widget. Can definitely live with this and is my one and only gripe with miui

Yep I have a clock widget on mine and so far it's working OK.
Maybe the battery optimisations that android/emui does to save power is messing with it? As I think by default it puts them all apps into it's own optimiser list... Maybe try turning it off for the launcher your using. (it's listed under battery in settings- find your app there and tell emui to leave it be)

Is anyone running Cyanogenmod on there Note 3? I see there is an official version of CM available for it. I don't have this device yet [it's in the post] but I'm just wondering about what ROMs and such are available.

Not official but it's in pretty good shape.

I used it for a bit a while ago but was having trouble with my camera.

Meant to be resolved now but I can't be bothered to switch back

Guys would you recommend the Note 3 over the 5 inch Xiaomi Redmi 3s model or have any input?

Note 3 or Note 4 is my question atm

I seem to have developed a bit of an issue with my Note 3, I'm not getting any sound on video playback, nothing from radio player either. Is my speaker buggered? It was working fine earlier.

Update, this seems to be resolved. Turned the phone off for the night and sound working ok again.

How do you find the camera on it please? The dual camera lens is meant to be good for getting bokeh/background defocused.

Have mine a few days now and am very happy with it. I bought this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Original-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-3-Pro-Snapdragon-650-Hexa-Core-5-5-3GB-RAM-32GB-ROM/342812_32597684693.html

    - Screen is very clear with colours that really pop out at you. The size of the screen makes reading very easy which is great if you read a lot on your phone.
    - Build quality of the phone is very good although I did get a free cover with mine [transparent rubbery one that fits like a glove around it].
    - Fingerprint scanner is very good once you set it up and its location is good on the back right where your finger would naturally go anyway.
    - Call quality is as good as any other phone I have had. Volume is good and the mic is fine etc.
    - Takes a bit of time to charge due to the size of the battery but on the flip-side the battery life is very good.
    - MIUI has improved on every iteration it has had so far which is nice to see.
    - No lag from the processor and there is plenty of RAM to run multiple apps without any delays or slow-down.
    - Camera seems fine, it's not as good as the rest of the phone but I haven't messed with it too much. It will do what it needs to do without being overly fantastic.
    - Infra-red remote control for the telly and whatnot is handy but doesn't pair up with the TV I have :(
    - Seems heavy compared to my old Redmi 2 which had a much smaller 4.7" screen so I think we can excuse the flab haha!

Overall - for the money you pay, it's a great value phone that will last for a good while yet. Apply to have the bootloader unlocked and you have a whole other world of ROMs like Cyanogenmod etc to fall back on if you don't like MIUI or if Xiaomi stop rolling out updates for it in time to come. I often think that that is important to keep in mind if you plan on keeping the phone for 3 years or more.

The Pro version with Snapdragon processor and 3gb of RAM would be a step up alright I believe.
