Have the phone about 6 weeks now. Paid $179 or about €160 in AliExpress. Didn't get any custom issues but chose slow mail. They marked android phone and a €20 value on the front. If you get DHL or similar you will get hit for customs.

How has your 4g/3g been? Mines been pretty **** if I'm being honest.

Ya not as sharp as my last phone. Phone vibrates when it loses signal even if only for a few seconds and I've noticed it a lot. Last phone didn't alert me to not sure how often it lost signal when driving around the country.

It's missing the 800 Mhz band I'm pretty sure. Few operators use it so might be the issue !

how do you find the camera ?

( got a phone recently marked 20€ and phone - still stung ! Not sure how they decide which ones to query!)

Good. It's no DSLR but I find it fine and I do use the camera a lot for work so needs to be of a decent quality.

No idea on the customs. I've purchased a good bit of stuff over the years and never got hit.

I just bought one from AliExpress that guarantees no customs charge. They ship with DHL, but ship to Germany 1st, then on to Ireland. Have plenty of Irish reviews saying that no one was caught by customs. Bought here on the back of a poster on the AliExpress thread in Bargain Alerts receiving theres with no charges. Here's hoping all received ok.

I am almost about to buy this from Oppomart but the OnePlus X is holding me back.... any real differences to the average user?

The front camera on snapchat is absolutely awful.

If I'm being honest, the phone is good, definitely better than my last (Huawei Ascend G7) but the issue with connectivity is quite annoying, I can regularly get no coverage/3g/4g even in the city centre, when I'm as far out as blancherdstown I really struggle for data and getting a good connection.

But I'd struggle to suggest it over a OnePlus, the phones very light, has a good screen, and if you use Google now as a launcher works even better.

The camera isn't great, but its acceptable, its very quick and the battery is incredible.

I got one of these from (eglobalcentral, 220e), it arrived today. But the battery wont charge on it though.., stays at 0% with no animation that its charging or anything, just an empty battery symbol with the lightening strike symbol in the center. Been plugged in for hours, tried different cables, adapters, and tried through usb on the laptop.. nothing will move the battery from 0%.
I can turn it on when its disconnected to any power, but i get a warning saying battery @ -2% and to connect the charger immediately.

Do you think its a battery issue or the small usb connection on the phone could be faulty ?.

When i try to charge though the laptop when i connect the phone up with usb, i get a message on pc saying faulty usb connection or something, although the phone still draws power and i can use the phone fine when connected. Im just thinking, If it was a battery issue, wouldnt it not be able to turn on at all when not plugged in?

Posting from mine now.. I love it flashed Cyanogenmod 13 on it last week and worked through the few bugs and its great. I'm with Vodafone and on Miui I never had coverage issues it jumped from H+ to 4g whenever available and the battery is great. With CM13 I had to limit data to 3g only to get reliable coverage. Miui is ok but it has its bugs too so would recommend CM13 if you're comfortable flashing

Just a quick update from me - phone landed on Tuesday of this week - very happy with it. Went for the latest Redmi Note 3 Pro Prime with 32GB ROM, 3GB RAM, the newer Snapdragon processor and the 16MP camera and it came to just shy of €200 all in (no customs as shipped through Germany) for:

    - Phone
    - Charger
    - Soft Case
    - Hard Case
    - Screen Protectors
    - Adapter to allow for use with either 2 sim cards, or a sim and a microSD simultaneously.

Have to say I'm delighted with it and would recommend it to anyone. OH has a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and to me it feels better in the hand than that, but that's obviously personal preference. Fingerprint scanner works 100% of the time and I honestly didn't think I'd like that feature as much as I do. Very snappy and camera quality is fine for what I use it for. Again, would recommend for sure.

I'm checking for system updates but it's coming up as "No updates available". Is there anything you need to do to update?

You need to download the global developer ROM to get to miui8 and then manually install it from the updater app.

Depends who you bought from I'd say. If it's from Top One with DHL shipping, then 9 business days.

Another question - my phone vibrates every time I run out of phone signal or data signal. Is there any way to disable this? I drive through a no mans land for signal every morning to work and the phone's going crazy as it loses and regains coverage over and over.

As your not having much of a signal on the trip, why not put it in airplane mode for that trip.

Good suggestion, but a bit of a pain in the hole:) I have coverage for the majority of the trip, so it'd be a shame to need to turn on airplane mode every day.

Did you get two tracking codes? One from china to the UK (seller comments) and a second from UK to here (aliexpress code on order)?

Once mine arrived in TAKELEY, on a Monday, I had it on the Wednesday.

You could have it this Friday, if not definitely Monday Tuesday, due to bank holiday.

Thanks - got email from DHL this morning to say clearance processing is complete:) Very impressed with the speed of this so far - it took over 2 weeks for my Elephone (ordered and returned thru Amazon) to arrive

It can take up to 2 weeks, but I got mine in 2 days.

    Hi
Looking for a bit of help/advice here. Very happy so far with my phone - great battery life, happy with camera etc. Don't use it for games or much like that. Only thing I have done is installed Smart Launcher.
My issue is that when I unlock the device with my fingerprint I still have a little lock symbol that I have to swipe to fully unlock the phone....seems like it shouldn't be there or is unnecessary. Is there a way to disable this?

    Thanks

More details, what rom is your device on?

Is there settings in the "Smart Launcher" maybe to turn off the lock?

I don't get the lock symbol, but running xiaomi.eu rom.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon-650 Variant Gets Official CyanogenMod Support
    August 3, 2016

    [ROM][OFFICIAL][kenzo][6.0.1] CyanogenMod 13.0.1

Been reading the thread, depending on what Fingerprint model you have it may or not work, and cause problem if it doesn't

Also issues reported with connecting to data.

Also some random reboots, but may have been fixed in last night's nightly.

I think, I will stick with xiaomi.eu weeklys for now.

Has anyone here been brave enough to install this CM?

It goes without saying but follow the instructions, if your going to use it.
+ Backup all Partitions with Alka TWRP before changing to MM based rom.

The camera on the RN3 is reportedly it's weakest feature. Not great in low light conditions.

    This Corkie
I'm just using the stock ROM that came on the phone - not competent or techie enough even to go messing with it, I'm so think I couldn't even work out how to apply for unlocking privileges from the link you posted me before!
I don't really need a lot of extra features, main aim when I got phone was to break from Apple and reduce overall costs by not having to go into new contract with VF - switched to eir business unlimited for €20/month so that's working out ok:-)
Fingerprint scanner worked OK in the beginning so not sure if there was an update that caused lock to appear....doesn't ask for pin or anything so it's no biggie really - just have to swipe.
Maybe it's a smart launcher thing - may try switching to another launcher instead and see if that works? Do you recommend any?
    Cheers

On another note re: the camera - I think it's pretty decent, I was at a wedding at the weekend and took lots of pics inside and out, early and late and happy with the results

Not the smart launcher, just temporarily installed it to test.
