    I upgraded to MIUI 8 a few weeks back and I don't know if it was because of this but the full charge lasts half as long as it used to, was getting over two days, now get 17 hours max, using the same charger, tried a few things like letting battery run to zero and fully charge, no difference, the miui forum says that it may be caused by miui 8 and to install the latest update (6.9.22),

    What rom are you on? Report what you see in: -
    settings - about phone - MIUI Version

    Some rom versions had a battery draining wakelock bug.

    If your losing 10% or more battery overnight when the device should be in deep-sleep. You probably have it.

    Some roms have been good to me only losing 1% overnight (8 Hours). With the current rom and kernel, I'm losing about 4%.

    There is a fix for battery draining bug which involves just flashing just the modem from a prior rom.

    I'm on MIUI Global 8.0/stable
    8.0.1.0 (LHOMIDG), I have noticed that I'm losing 7-8% a night,
    If I do what you're saying will I still have to unlock the bootloader?,
    If I just reset will that take me back to miui 7?

    Thanks

    Thanks for that, they seem pretty much level, the processer seems to be the main difference. could anyone put the difference into layman's terms? How it would effect use.

    I love the 1+1, need a new screen, can't afford to splash out on a 1+3 so might get something that will feed my need for a new phone for 6-12 months

    7-8% overnight is not as bad as some people have reported.
    Unfortunately just flashing the modem needs an unlocked bootloader and I don't think it can be done with stable roms anyway.
    A factory reset will not take you back to MIUI 7, you still be on MIUI 8.

    Plenty of reports of bad battery drain on 8.0.1.0 (LHOMIDG) here is an example thread. Some have said that a factory reset improves it, others say it makes no difference.

    I say just hold out and hope they fix it in the next update.

    Sorry for the totally idiotic questions by the way!!

    Edit 13/10/2016 01:10 BST: - Note: - SafetyNet has been updated again, so this no longer works.

    Finally a temporary working method to use Systemless Xposed and bypass SafetyNet
    iFedix wrote:
    Yes, thanks to KuroIgunashio we have a temporary way to install everything in MIUI. Waiting for an official release this can help:
    1) Flash SuperSU v2.78 SR1;
    2) Flash Suhide v0.55;
    3) Wipe dalvik cache and reboot;
    4) Flash this Xposed modified version;
    5) With a file manager (I used Root Explorer) do as follows:
    1. Copy the file /su/xposed/system/framework/XposedBridge.jar to /system/framework;
    2. Copy the file /su/xposed/system/lib/libxposed_art.so to /system/lib
      (Important: if your device is arm64 you need also to copy the file /su/xposed/system/lib64/libxposed_art.so to /system/lib64);
    3. Copy the file /su/xposed/system/xposed.prop to /system;
    6) Reboot, install Xposed Installer and enjoy Xposed for MIUI!

    Tested with my Redmi Note 3 Pro and it's working! Maybe when I have time i'll code a script to flash in TWRP wich can move these files automatically! :good:
    Important: make sure every file has rw- r--r-- permission!

    Make sure to follow instruction exactly.

    My first attempt failed because I copied a wrong file to lib64.

    Unfroze Pokemon Go, updated and successfully run the program using suhide V0.55.

    Working on RN3 Pro with xiaomi.eu 6.9.29!

    Get Pokemon back to work in latest safetynet upgrade
    .

    The above procedure along with the above "Root Switch" apk will allow you to play Pokemon again.

    Alternatively there is a new file/patch for suhide that passes the latest SafetyNet Update.

    I have a 5.5 inch screen at the moment and wouldn't trade it back to smaller, its great for videos and pics. Only small issue is i have small hands so some things is hard to do on it with one hand!!! But i over look it.

    Another good option for a phone like this might be the Elephone P9000. It looks very good in this review, although Elephone's build quality has been sene to be a little patchy before:http://www.trustedreviews.com/elephone-p9000-review

    Hi lads,

    I'm thinking of getting a Redmi Note 3 but am trying to decide between versions.

    - Is it worth going for the Pro version with the Snapdragon processor and 16MP camera?
    - Is it worth paying the extra for the 3GB of RAM and 32gb of memory or is that overkill?
    - Can the device be rooted easily so I can put Adaway on to it?!

    From my reading of the thread it seems that a stable version of Cyanogenmod is available which is good as I like to put new ROMs on to my phone every now and then. I currently have a Redmi 2 (1GB verison) so I am very familiar with how MIUI works etc and have flashed Cyanogenmod on to it [in fact it is running CM now].

    Thanks all and happy Thursday to ye ;)

    What do these ROMS offer extra? I'm looking at this phone, but I never dabble further than changing the launcher on phones tbh. I just need a phone to be speedy, with good quality HD screen for YT/Movies, and a half decent camera for out and about [have a dslr for when I want higher qual images]

    I ordered a redmi Note 3 through Amazon but unfortunately it seems it's coming from China. I assume I will get nabbed for customs. Does anyone know how this works with parcel motel? Will I get email to pay customs before it's delivered to parcel motel?

    if it is pulled up, you will get an email or a letter - depending on what info on you they find within the package [on the invoice]

    They won't be in a hurry to contact you either, so if it goes much beyond the usual 2 weeks for your delivery, then start worrying about customs. You will get charged 23% + a small fee to the postman once it is finally delivered.

    So, if your phone was €150, you'll pay 23% + €6 [I think] = €40 total. The phone will end up being €190 basically. Just factor this in when taking the chance on any non-EU purchase above €22. Is it still worth it? usually is, but it's still a PITA

    Thinking of buying this phone from TopOne/Aliexpress myself. Should I let the Seller open the box and Flash the ROM with Global Firmware before they ship it to me, or will this cause problems with the phone?

    Anyone know anywhere in Dublin that will replace a Redmi 3 pro screen, had my phone two weeks and dropped it! Case still en route from China

    If you're any way good at DIY, you can buy a replacement LCD https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-3-Screen-Gold-100-Original-Replacement-LCD-Display-Touch-Screen-For-Xiaomi-Redmi/32591550274.html It's below customs range too at only €21

    Let them do quality control, less chance of getting a faulty device. "TopOne" don't put vendor rom on there devices.

    I bought mine used, it's got MIUI 8.0.5.0, everything seems to be running fine and all is in English, thankfully. Should I bother looking into this flash ROM thing? what are the advantages if any? I wouldn't attempt it until I research it a bit first and know what I'm doing, I'll always do that before trying something new. But just a casual Q, what are the benefits? Is it worth me looking into deeper?

    One little tip for anyone who picks this phone up regarding the camera: [and pretty much same for most models] - open the camera app, go to 'modes' and click the settings cog top right. You'll find in there that by default the camera is on it's lowest settings and in 4:3 ratio for some odd reason. It'll also be set to normal contrast and saturation, those are more personal choices, you can fiddle about see what suits you best. but definitely change the quality to it's highest and 16:9 ratio. Or you'll be disappointed with your results. Once it's all set up right it's not a bad cam, not great by any means [though I was spoiled a bit with the S6 I had ... before it drowned!] but since most people throw filters on their images these days it's very acceptable to start with.

    The camera actually shoots in higher resolution in 4:3, you get 16MP that way, in 16:9 it's 12MP.

    MP count means very little when it comes to image quality, unless the sensor can back it up. As someone told me once "20mp of s**t is still s**t!! :D Camera phone sensors are no bigger than your little finger nail. When they try to cram too many MP into that space things can get 'muddy'.

    16:9 here gives a cleaner image, nobody uses 4:3 anymore as almost all displays now use 16:9. I'm a photographer and use dslrs [my main cam has a 36mp sensor but it's a huge, FX sensor that can make good use of all them pixels] so I don't need a phone cam to be ultimate quality, but it's nice to at least have it the cleanest end result possible. Trust me, try 16:9 and ignore the MP count ;) And in either case you definitely want it set to highest overall, mine was set to low, and the contrast and colours were flat and bland.

    Yeah I'm aware that res doesn't equate to quality but felt like photos were a bit washed out in 16:9 and lacking detail.

    I don't really use it that much though, what annoys me most is how sh*t the camera is in snapchat and instagram. Whatever noise filters and camera settings those use are not optimized for the phone whatsoever. Selfie cam on snap chat is atrocious.

    I never use SC but must give it a go on IG. Maybe it's better to just take the pic, edit, and then up to IG. That's what I normally would do anyway

    Quick tester I threw up on IG, seems alright, I edited on the phone before upping. Just crop, bit of exposure tweaking and that was it.

    Hey guys,

    seeing as this phone has an active thread I'm probably gonna pick up one for the car. lol...sounds odd but I cant use my Oneplus Three for google maps cos of screen-burn that Amoleds get... The screen will be on for at least 30 hrs per week. So if anyone could be so kind to answer and/or test:

    Has anyone used this phone for Google maps/Wazes ect? ,You're experience ?
    How's the GPS on cold locking? (thats locking on after a reboot)

    Can it obtain a lock without a SIM/in Airplane mode?

    And last, Does this phone have a real/working magnetometer/compass?
    as many fake it by reporting one but they can't be tested....

    Thanks.
