Just got the note 3 pro, problem is there is no keyboard installed only the google voice keyboard which needs wifi. Also there is no file manager/explorer so I can't install the google keyboard APK.

    Android version 5.1.1 LMY47V
    MIUI global 7.3

    Any ideas?

Cheers. You get the Global version aswell. What you think of the camera that seems thenonly downside

I thought the selfie camera was sh1te, then I realised I still had the protective cover on the front :).

Not a huge photo taker, it seems standard enough to me.

Anybody find a nice case for the 'Kate' SE version?

2.5mm taller than the normal 'Kenzo' version 1 believe.

Ordered and received the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (link below)

    2 questions:
    1. It says Note 3 on the box - should it not say Note 3 Pro?
    2. How do I know if I have the international version of the phone?

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Original-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-3-Pro-Prime-Snapdragon-650-Hexa-Core-5-5-3GB-RAM-32GB/32597684693.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.S8JUN9

    Thanks

    Thanks

Same product as I received in July, It is the Pro "Kenzo" model and not "Kate"!

Edit: - Check that you have an official global rom on it and not a vendor rom,
See: - Settings - About Phone - MIUI Version.

Top one is reliable and usually don't use vendor roms when official global rom available.

My phone isn't recognising my new headphones. When I insert them the headphone icon appears for a second and then disappears and music comes out of the speaker. I've tried the headphones in my laptop and they work fine.

If you have volume controls on the headphones try pressing them when plugged in, if no luck there try the soundabout app in playstore that could help

Might be dust caught in the socket too - when you remove your hand pressure from pressing in the jack it might thinking the headphones are no longer connected as they won't 'stay' down. Try cleaning it out.

I don't think it's dust in the socket, my other headphones work fine. I managed to get sound out of it but it seems to be playing mono or 5.1 or something. The vocals are very very low and the sound mix sounds very off. I've tried them in another phone and they're fine so it's definitely some issue with the phone.

Can anyone recommend a good launcher?

It's probably the headphones. I have a pair of Sony buds that have noise cancelling mics on then and they only work with some phones like Samsung(s) but can barely hear them on the Redmi Note 3.

I use two: Nova Launcher for that Stock look and Action Launcher 3 for something a little different.

Both are very well done for a very slick experience.

I was thinking of upgrading anyway so this seems like a good excuse. I think I'll get the Huawei p9 lite.

I'm with Meteor and get 4G. I'm based in Galway but can get 4G in most places with good reception.

It must be a meteor problem so, I'll have to call customer care and have them check it out.
I've set lte as preferred and signal is good.

Also what country have you selected? UK or Ireland are not on the list.

    Algeria, for whatever reason.

I set it to Germany and have 4g now so problem solved. I'm out in the sticks so I'll check speeds when I'm in town tomorrow.
Apart from the camera it seems like a decent phone. A lot faster than my previous Smart Ultra 6, which has a 13mp lens and it takes a better picture than the Rnp3.

So it turns out that I have the Kenzo version which doesn't have band 20 for 4g.
When I connect to WiFi my network says Meteor 4g, but drops back to 3g when WiFi is switched off.
I have a screenshot attached below.

    Hi,

I have two covers for my redmi note 3 pro prime,
The flip case is great for protecting the screen (have a protector on there too) but doesn't protect the edges too well, had a few chips when using this cover,

with the second case it's great for the corners, obviously not so great for the screen,

I'm just wondering if anyone has found a flip case with better edge protection than the one shown?

    Thanks in advance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 285 ✭✭johnytwentyten

Sorry, flip case pic showing the lack of protection for the edges

After 37 days delivery to Ireland, I finally received the case.

The free glass bundle is not an extra glass for the device. The case fits the phone fine, with only tiny slits on the back and front where the two pieces meet. The case kind of feels slippery in the hand! (My nilkon case had better grip).

The protective glass fits the slot in front and doesn't cover all the phone. Haven't put the glass on yet, want to make sure I going to use the case. Plus the normal screen protector is still in good condition after 6 months of use.

Edit: - Actually I like this case and put on the Glass Protector as lip on the cover near screen was to deep without it! It was also easy to put on with no bubbles left, but some did appear but a good rub got rid of them.

Note:- Male sure you have the case on first, so you get the position of glass correct.

    I haven't bothered with a screen protector myself....maybe I should rethink...

I tried to put Cyanogenmod 14 on to my Redmi Note 3 last night but no joy. Anyone do it? Is it worthwhile?
