    Hate? What hate?

Ooooh is a poor little SJW is upset the whole world doesn't think the same as them. You better find your safe space and think about trigger warnings.

    Hang on a second here.

Just because someone didn't want to see Trump voted in doesn't mean they are a special snowflake SJW type.

All it means is that they didn't like his total lack of actual policies, his total lack of political understanding and the simple fact he's a kinda gross bloke.

    Get a grip.

Calm down people. 1 of 2 things will happen when Trump take office.

1 The house and senate will tell him we can't do x and y. Things will be watered down (illegal immigrants nned to be tackled). They can't and will not drop corporation from 35% to 15% that be fiscal suicide. He will go along with them

    2. He will not go along with above and leave and Pence will become president. It is good pc crap will ne gone for a bit
Are we supposed to be calm about Scenario 2?

I would take Trump as President anyday over Mike Pence. Mike Pence makes George Dubya look like the Dalai Lama. This isn't 'PC crap' its naked racism and bigotry.

At least the Donald doesn't believe, or can't remember, most of the shit he says.

You are missing my bit about congress they have real power

That's a bit unfair on Kenny tbh. Cameron has condemned Trump and Kenny was under a lot of pressure from both the opposition and media to make similar comments. Kenny held his tongue for ages until the question of condemning Trump became a distraction.

That $200bn would not be affected by corporation tax (been said in another post). Given ours is 12.5% at the moment I do not think they would move might have other reason for staying here. So if the big companies do not move thats a big hole to fill. So how would they fill it would they take the risk to see if the companies will move back

It will be affected if they decide to repatriate it. The reason they haven't so far is because 35% is astoundingly high and too high for them to consider it worthwhile.

I do agree with you, that reducing it by that much is enough to put a gaping hole in their finances (Corp Tax in 2015 was $344bn, that's over $170bn drop if agreed with). It could be plugged by increased receipts if companies decide to shift profits to the US plus the associated indirect tax receipts (wages, VAT, and so on) but it is a pretty big gap to fill.

So, if the US doesn't reduce tax then nothing changes and we keep ticking along as before. If the US does decrease tax, we can anticipate an increase in investment here and increased flow directly to the US.

So, yeah, I don't believe Trump is going to wreck our economy.

I'm afraid we're going to be getting a lot of this sort of gloating.

And yes, I agree. He is an odious man, but it's his policies (or rather lack thereof) that are truly worrying. And the policies he vaguely has are pretty horrifying.

Independent UK running some wildly sensational headlines.
Congratulations, America. You just elected a man accused of sexual assault to avoid a woman accused of mishandling her emails

Of course he has policies. They're on his website if you want to check! I saw someone say the same thing about clinton. Why does everyone say the exact same thing about the one they dont support.

I think the establishment and media don't like him because he is a maverick. It is a big FU to them just like Brexit.

Well...it is an odd thing to pick up on, but it's actually completely accurate. It does not talk about the veracity of either statement, but that is what they were both accused of.

The difference being the president of this country doesn t matter in any significant way.

I am aware of that but still people here almost voted him in which would have been ludicrous.

It's an accurate headline though. He was accused of sexual assault, and Hillary was accused of screwing around with emails.

This may have been the best result to be honest. I'd hate to think what would have happened if Trump lost, it could have created a real divide where half the country doesn't trust the other half. There were people that would never have accepted Clinton.

I don't like Trump, but now it's time to see what he can achieve, America can try something else (although I really don't believe Trump has the common man at the top of his agenda).

I don't see how he's going to convince Americans to pay American prices for products. As long as China is cheaper consumers will buy Chinese goods over American goods.

I hope Trump proves us all wrong again, the world needs a strong America, hopefully it doesn't isolate itself or we're all in trouble.

How long will people cry about it? Is it going to go on like it has with Brexit? Will people just accept the people wanted The Donald? Make America great again!

They'll hold another election next month

Pretty much this. More of the same hasn't improved European or Western economies in general for the better part of the last decade or so. Lower corporation tax rates will probably see a spike in activity, which will lead to higher wages and cheaper products to be competitive.

Hell, shale isn't going anywhere so oil will remain low and buoy up economic growth (even if it does weigh down exporting nations) and will probably help to cut the global emissions.

The media liked Hillary. They only disliked how difficult she was to defend.

I imagine after the claims of voter fraud have been looked at.

After all, just over 12 hours ago trump was saying this...
“the election is absolutely being rigged ... at many polling places,” and that “voter fraud is very, very common.”
