I was looking forward to listening to it later on this evening :(

Live commentary on Leinster in Montpellier at 13:00. With the preview of that, no time for a decent newspaper today. I expect that was why.
Pity because of One Zero, Axel stories this week but what can you do.

This ex cyclist fellow has got some very unusual views on drugs. It's almost like he accepts it as part of the sport and sees no wrong in it. Very unusual panel, between him and the other Lance apologist.

I'm expecting Paul Kimmage to arrive in a black cape and kick in the studio door.

Very odd guy indeed. He didn't seem to find anything mentioned ethically or morally wrong. Also when I googled him, he had more than a passing resemblance to

Just listened to that interview now with Dr. Julian Dalby. He really does have some odd views on doping amongst other sporting related things.

    Strange guy, very strange.

The love in between Gilroy and Ewan McKenna was terrible the other night. "I might see you in Athy for a pint Ewan" I nearly got sick.

I definitely think though the whole Lance interview has gone to GIlroy's head. And so it showed when talking to the one zero guy. Why should they give money back? They're a business after all and if you're stupid enough to give nearly 500 euro for a conference you can afford it.

Also, if i was being interviewed by McKenna and he gave me a mirror to look into my soul I'd probably get sick. A fairly pathetic prop to use for from a decent journalist.

i don't want to jinx it but has the only positive reshuffle disaster in newstalk become of the absence of that useless mess donny?

I've only heard bits this evening but Dave McIntyre and Kevin kilbane don't seem to like each other too much.
They're both jumping at any chance to disagree with each other.
Though it does add a bit of bite that hasn't been there since wooly left.

I think they were just having "banter" Kevin is always taking the piss out of Dave and Nathan Murphy.

I like Kilbane but it takes him an age to ask a question, he does ask some good questions but he asks them in the most round about ways.

Article in the Indo mentions that RTE has taking back full radio rights for the GAA, thus Newstalk losing secondary rights. If true it's a big blow for them and would leave a big gap in their weekend coverage. Nothing confirmed tho.

That would be a disaster for OTB. Used to enjoy their coverage at the weekends, and they had built-up a decent team of pundits/analysts.

I don't get that as much but when Eoin McDevitt and Ciaran Murphy were on that was definitely the case

I took the old crews taking the piss out of Cian as just "banter" don't think they were flushing his head down the toilet or anything.

That tale Giles told of playing that game against Everton sounded crazy.

The one he told McDevitt about how he and Bremner "handled" - wrong limb:D - Kevin Keegan was a classic tale of the midfield maestro's virtuousity.

No doubt many of you know it and can tell it better than me.

Not the biggest Giles fan but that was amazing how he could recall every little detail of a match from the sixties like that, the result, the score, scorer, described the goal, a tackle put in on him, where he was standing relative to a carding, word for word nearly on the abuse he got from the Everton crowd. They say this happens with age - the short term memory goes but you recover memories of your younger days.

I thought they, particularly Joe, were supposed to be golfers?

Shocking ignorance of rules last night anyway. Total misinterpretation of the rules on foliage/ practice swings. Then they thought professionals play different rules to the rest of the world.

To be fair, Joe said he wasn't sure about the foliage rule. Ger said they play different rules but Joe said that they don't.

I was shocked at all the texts about cheating in golf last night. It was depressing actually when Joe told a story about some yahoo in the club house bar laughing at him for calling a penalty on himself.

Maybe it's time that mandatory rules & etiquette classes were given to prospective members of golf clubs.

I think most golfers would know that you cant improve the area of intended swing by knocking off leaves etc with your practice swings, but doing so while making a stroke is ok.

He seemed to think the issue was whether just touching your club on foliage was ok or whether leaves had to be actually knocked off the branch, didn't seem at all aware of the differences between doing this in a practice swing and a stroke.

Not 100 percent sure. I'm more interested in who'll replace him.

I don't think there's many great sports journalists from other stations out there. Darren Cleary from 98fm would be one, and although their bulletins are short, the afternoon guy (name escapes me) on Spin seems to know his stuff. Would be a much bigger jump though..

Oisin Langan is good and just hanging around the station

I completely forgot about Oisin Lanigan. He's an excellent journalist.

Nah, he doesn't mixed well. It most likely will be Richie McCormack, or Eoin/Owen who does Saturdays. Best of luck to Cian.

Yeah I heard that too. Surprised to hear that he's going. I guess he's sick of playing the straight man.

Disappointed to hear that Cian is gone. Although Richie would be a good replacement, every cloud has a silver lining and all that

They gave Cian a good send off. Plenty tweets wishing him luck as well.
Even second captain's tweeted good luck which was nice to see.
