What surprised me the most was the first 300,000 premises had a plan to be finished by 2020 which is ambitious, then after delays in starting Eir announce that they will have all 300,000 completed by end of 2018, I can't see how they are gonna do this considering how slow things are right now getting going.
I seeing them in Dunshaughlin today with yellow cables wouldn't worry Gonzo you be getting it soon.

I will check later if they have stopped where the blue line stops.
Uneducated guess: so far it seems to be covering the side of Drumree which is not connected to the cabinet but straight to the exchange where speeds can very poor.
The line checker is not updated anyway as it still indicates that I can avail of the amazing maximum speed of 3Mb, which actually translates into 1/1.5Mb in reality.

Good to know that they have started wiring in some parts of Dunshaughlin. The drumree part of Dunshaughlin is the only part I haven't been to in quite a while.

I haven't seen wiring take place anywhere else in the exchange yet. I'd love to know when they started wiring the Drumree area, was it over the past 2 to 3 days?. Is the wiring on that section of road complete? I guess the batterstown blue line on same road has not started yet?

The one thing that concerns me is based upon the few exchanges that have already gone live. I'm wondering will Eir complete the wiring across the rest of Dunshaughlin blue lines or will they go somewhere else and come back to finish the rest at some other date. If I don't see wiring taking place anywhere else next week I can assume they have moved to another exchange.

Rob what part of Dunshaughlin did you see work in yesterday? was it the village itself or some other part?

As for the line checker, I'm guessing it will only show up as available when the fiber is live and ready to order.

I would say Monday and Tuesday is when the fibre went up. I was travelling so cannot confirm, but trust me, there was no hints of the work starting the past few months as I would have been checking religiously.

That's why I'm kinda concerned! We had the ducting way back 1st week of April then in July they uncovered old Telecom Eireann manholes near my home and ran some tubing through them with black tube taped to the side of a few poles. Not a sign of them in months now this direction.

Athboy got enabled last month and only 1/7th of it's premises got wired up so I'm wondering have they moved on already. If i see no work over the next week I could be in for a long wait.

Ive been watching developments here like a hawk since last March but somehow missed the drumree section of the R154.

It was in Dunshaughlin town look like they were going towards Dunshaughlin to Ratoath road.

if that's correct then we have 2 to 3 possible blue lines which will soon be fiber enabled.

1 - The blue line which by-passes Drumree heading towards Trim
2 - another section which branches off from this road near Leshamstown Lane heading to Killeen Castle
    3 - Dunshaughlin to Ratoath road (R125)

Routes with no work at the moment

1 - my road, Lagore Road, Lagore Cul de Sac and Mooretown.
    2 - Bog road.
    3 - Old Navan road.
    4 - Old Dublin road.

Fingers, toes and everything crossed that the rest of these routes will resume within the next week or 2.
We are all relying on boards.ie members for information about the rollout, whats been worked on and where. Without boards.ie members we would be clueless to what is going on. This information we should be able to identify from the Open Eir Fiber rollout map which is now close to 2 months out of date.

slight update on the Eir's Line checker.

Today when I enter my telephone number or any other number on my road it says:

    Great news!
The telephone number 01-825xxxx you provided indicates that your line may be able to handle speeds of up to 1000Mb per second with our fibre extreme product.
Please enter your Eircode to help us determine the best available speed for your home.

There is an option to enter eircode or continue without using eircode.
using both options then returns the usual fiber hasn't reached your address yet message.

I had the same confusion a while back. Other providers were saying fibre was available at an address up to around 30Mb but Eirs site was saying it wasn't. I got in touch with them directly and it is available, just not reflected correctly on their website. Their website still says 15.

I'm not getting excited just yet, despite the developments on the line checker fiber still has to be wired in my area! I think every number in Dunshaughlin is getting the same message now but when they check it returns either ADSL or FTTC depending on where you live.

Marcel, try the line checker again since your road is wired up and see what happens now.

Where can I enter my eircode? Can't that option anywhere.

EDIT: I don't currently have a phone with Eir...so I don't have a phone number either. Maybe I can't get to that Eircode step.

It only presents if your number translates to an exchange code that has FTTH services.

Eir's Web site was offline earlier I think so perhaps there is still some integration work still going on..

New line checker tells me that I am potentially eligible for 1000Mb, Eircode confirmation tells me that it is not available yet.

    Wait and see now

I think that message is now showing to every phone number in an exchange that will have FTTH services regardless if they are on a blue line or not. Phone numbers in Ratoath are doing similar.

The real test is submitting your Eircode or to continue without using Eircode.

It is working for certain Eircodes in Athboy. Up to now I could not find any enabled premises there. Interestingly for the route I found three premises after the blue line ends are showing up as FTTH enabled so maybe some good news for those just at the end of a blue line. I checked some Eircodes inside the crudely drawn sausage!

KNN are busy working on the Dunshaughlin-Ratoath road (R125) laying yellow and blue cable near the black bush junction As they started this from the junction of the old N3, it appears that they have so far skipped the Red Bog road blue line.

My line is no longer showing the message about potential eligibility for Eir Fibre Extreme with Eircode checker, yet all the other premises on the road still have the message. I don't know if that mean's anything or is it a very negative turn of events.

The only roads that I can confirm that have fiber on them or in the final stages of being worked on are the R154 from Drumree and the R125 towards Ratoath.
It remains to be seen will Eir complete my road and the other 3 or 4 blue lines in this initial rollout. I really hope everyone gets looked after because any blue lines left in limbo could be in for a very long wait.

If Eir do complete the exchange (highly unlikely since none of the first live exchanges are finished), then I reckon Dunshaughlin may go live in January.
If it's just the case of 2 blue lines then those could be live in time for Christmas. With no updated map or dates it's like living on a roller coaster of excitement hoping for the best.

    Excitement?
I'd call it more a roller coaster of trepidation and frustration...

that is true too, the most frustrating part is the complete lack of information. It's the living on hope part that is hard to bare at times. For me what's making things worse is the fact we were started over half a year ago and areas around us are getting done all in one go and there is absolutely no guarantee that the lads will be back to complete the job any time soon.

The fact that exchanges are going live with only portions of them done doesn't sit well with me. It seems to be the luck of the draw which exchanges get more work done than others. Youghal is mostly completed with only 30+ premises left to do while poor Athboy only got 1/7th completed with close to 600 premises left to do!. And when will the rest of those get completed? I'll only be excited once I see the lads wiring up outside my front gate at this stage.

I suspect that the 'low hanging fruit' will get done first in almost all areas, which will itself show commitment to the roll out, and then the more difficult areas will be attended to.
None of us have any real idea what difficulties are met or foreseen, but eir being a commercial company will try to get as many people connected that they can, as quickly as possible.
It would seem reasonable to expect part coverage of areas initially.

Of course, why on earth would the company wait until a whole area is complete before allowing customers who are ready to go to sign up? It's better for everybody that this is the model, unfortunate for the people waiting on it to come through though while their neighbours down the road are surfing away.

That's me screwed so - we need a new cabinet to be installed in The Curragh to feed my long blue line.

Blue line roll out is not dependent on cabinets, although cabs do in some cases facilitate the roll out. ;)

Don't know what that means exactly but pretty sure our line needs one.

I don't think the the regulator will allow it because eir have to give time to other operators time to sell the product.
