It's amazing how 'Project Fear' is more and more becoming Project Reality.

It's simple: the pound now buys less of anything outside of the UK. Unilever aren't "blackmailing" anyone, they are passing on their increased costs
It will be the same at the petrol stations. Oil, and therefore all oil products, are priced in dollars. The pound now buys less dollars, so petrol prices are going to go up. Just like gas prices are going to, and therefore, electricity prices.
And when fuel prices rise, transport costs go up. And then everything else goes up because you have to transport it.
That is not "blackmail" or "threats", it is how the real world works. Brexiters can keep trying their tactics of paranoia (that's where you live in a fantasy world where everyone is against you but you have super powers)
Reality will soon bite. We're headed for a perfect storm of inflation (driven by rising import costs) and low interest rates and wage rises (because raising rates would really trash the economy, and employers can't afford to pay more, moreover, as unemployment will soon be going up, they can afford to treat workers badly with people on the dole queing up for work, any work)
Brexit was a vote to make yourself poorer because people disliked foreigners.

N:B - Living in the England so this probably doesn't really affect many people here. Just needed somewhere to rant a bit.

Actually this reminds me, around the time of the horse meat scare there a few years ago - I was explaining to my mates the terrible situation in Ireland that people were buying products thinking they contained beef, but it was actually horsemeat...

...after a few seconds of everyone staring at me with confused faces one lad finally said, "what's the problem, horse meat is delicious"

Horse is absolutely delicious and cheaper than beef. I eat it quite regularly.

And so it begins. If I was a betting man, I'd put a wager on them re-joining the EU within a decade. I'd probably even throw a few quid on them never leaving (after they realise what a monumental fúck up it was)

Spokesman for Forest Ireland, which supposedly is a smoker's rights group, had this to say about our cigarette price increase
“You could raise the price of a small car to €150k but people would still drive cars. So you can raise the price of cigarettes, and people will still smoke. It’s that simple. Health is a private matter between ourselves and our GP. It has nothing to do with the Government,”

I'm not sure which country he thinks he's talking about?

His statement just backs up precisely why the government will keep adding to the price of cigarettes. Smokers are addicts, they will keep buying smokes, so the government will keep upping the price.

Popular vote on such a complex economic issue is like texting in yes for green, No for red on a bomb disposal reality show.

No doubt this isn't reflective of all, but I'm sure it's reflective of many:

"Jaysus I wonder will the government start giving out grants for first time smokers now they're so dear"

    I laughed.

Does anyone know how much, roughly, it costs to buy a radiator? 4ft-ish by 2ft-ish.

Or what's a decent price to be quoted for supplying and installing one?

The supermarket - I live in Switzerland and its actually incredibly common here (at least in the French part). Doubt you'd have much luck finding it in Ireland.

This Kabaddi sport on Sky Sports Mix at the moment is mental. It appears to be competitive hand holding with the occasional rugby tackle thrown in.

Crashed into another boat out racing today.

Four tons of boat colliding is most unpleasant

    Feck. All okay?

Also feck was autocorrected to deck, so maybe it guessed my question was about the boat?

And of course all the sailors.

I've a mild concussion, there is a hole in our boat and the other boat is a bit mangled

We're hoping we get our boat fixed this week to race again next week :pac:

Oh, hang on, so you have to give way to boats coming on your left? Is there blame being attached by anyone? I'm guessing boat repairs are saucy

Yeah we were on port and didn't get out of the way of all the starboard boats so crashed.

I'd say the repair bill will be eye watering

There is a protest hearing which will attribute guilt

I was just weight on the rail today, it's the boat owners who foot the bill
