Cooper usually has Kimmage on one phone line, and Tony Cascarino on another. I dont like Cascarino, so this spoils it for me.

I think Joe Molloy is particularly good with Kimmage as well. He's not intimidated by him, and challenges him on what he says.

Enjoyed Kimmage, I really don't like o'Toole think it's his tone. I sort of feel sorry for Kimmage, he's lost so much all for what started out as a love for cycling and his sport.
They mentioned Dr Ciara Kelly in the interview saying that was a huge dose Wiggins got, anyone know what show that was on?

She started a wkd show on NT so I assume it was on before OTB

She was on The Sunday Show, as now hosted by Jonathon Healy.

Great stuff from Kimmage. Always so direct. Surprised that David Walsh hasnt rung in or at least responded on the twitter machine.

What were they saying about David Walsh? I only caught the last ten minutes, Joe was saying they were gonna get him on the show during the week to get his side of events.

He'll be on after 6 this evening on the drive time show.

Honestly there's no point in me telling you. It's the best hour of radio last week, you have to listen to it. There's way too much in it for me to even start. I'm going to take it down and listen to it again later.

Would have made more sense to save David Walsh for Off the Ball no?

I heard an ad on for the drivetime show earlier saying they'd have the OTB lads in to discuss the weekend sport.

Isn't that what Monday's OTB is for?

they only have one of them in the studio for a few minutes basically just giving a sports roundup and a bit of advertising for the show later on.
they don't really "discuss" much with Chris and Sarah.

Walsh came across very dignified when talking about Kimmage and their friendship.

I missed this. I wonder why he went on with Chris? Is he not happy with OTB, or does he consider that they are in the Kimmage camp? I know that previous presenter Eoin McDevitt was certainly a bit of a fanboy of Kimmage, but Joe Molloy does tackle him on what he says. And I think Kimmage actually appreciates that more, rather than having a "yes" man across the desk from him.

    I missed this.

Its available in the newstalk app as a podcast, only 14 minutes long. I'd highly recommend listening, especially to the final piece on Kimmage. He came across really well and quite sad that its come to this with Paul. Very poignant.

Yeah just listened to it. Surprised by him to be honest. I've heard him very ratty and irritable when on with Ger Gilroy before, and I was expecting the same today. I think he knows he was wrong. You have to wonder what possessed him to go on board with Team Sky. Shur he could never have known what the guys were taking or not taking behind his back, never mind what they say about "full access".

This is Kimmage from Today FM yesterday.

Some guy has arranged to bring Lance Armstrong to Dublin to give a bit of a talk. Kimmage is not impressed... lol.

Thought i was hearing things when I heard an ad for Lance coming over.

You have to wonder what possessed him to go on board with Team Sky..

I wonder was it just blind optimism and hope for a sport he loved, that it could finally turn the corner and put the scandals behind it.
That's the only thing I can think of. I feel that way about athletics, I 'want' to believe the likes of Bolt are clean, that it's his genetics, growing up in a culture that nutures and supports such talent but the realist in me wouldn't bet a tenner on it!

I thought they were winding Kimmage up. They should have told him that he was getting a civic reception at the Mansion House beforehand.

Or perhaps he thought his job was going to go the way of Kimmage's and took the Queen's shilling.

I'd pay good money to see Kimmage interview Armstrong.

I'd pay good money to see Kimmage interview Armstrong.

It'd end up more like a UFC bout than an interview.

Kimmage would pulverise him, all them years of hurt would manifest in flying fists.

I'd pay good money to see Kimmage interview Armstrong.

€175 to go to rds event if kimmage does step in. Can't get over the price.

Joe Molloy had a piece in the Independent in the 'Off the Ball' column yesterday criticising Darren Clarke for being rude to him.
The overwhelming reaction in the comments section were negative towards Molloy. The article has now been taken down.
Which is pathetic. I don't listen to the radio show any more so I don't know if has been mentioned.I actually find Joe Molloy to be an insincere, insufferable bore. His only real interest seems to be golf. Not a journalist.
Off the Ball: Of the many sports people I've interviewed, rude Darren Clarke is bottom of the list

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 14,370 Mod ✭✭✭✭pc7

Yeah read that article, I do like Joe (so much more so than Ger), its been weird this week there have been loads of little interviews with different OTB'ers in it this week.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,869 ✭✭✭PeterTheNinth

I've never like Darren Clarke, he treats people differently depending on whether they are of any use to him or not. And him knifing McGinley in the back when he was going for the Ryder cup captaincy last time was shameful, and most of the media seems to have given him a free pass.

That's fair enough but the article came across as petty and precious and it's strange that's it's been removed.
Joe probably wasn't expecting the criticism I guess.

I'll have to get a look at it yosser. Surprised that Joe Molloy would go to the effort of writing an article about it. Anywhere that I can see the article now?
