to be fair about the whole thing who else in the lightweight division has earned a title shot? dont think khabib has, two years ago 100% he would have barring his injury but his performance against horcher just doesnt warrant a title shot, he has to beat a top 10 guy to prove hes still got it. think khabib being out so long hes built up sort of a mystique about him, not saying this is everyone but for a lot of ufc fans, they started following after khabib's last fightand just see his record and not the quality of his past opposition or the quality of his fights

I don't have an issue with the LW shot to be honest. I have an issue with the 145 champ fighting three consecutive fights outside the division in which he's champ and being allowed to keep the belt. Been debated to death but it's just wrong in my eyes.

Some crack he won the lightweight belt and then gave it up and moved back to FW haha

With Dana's track record this means Conor will hold both belts if he pulls off the win against Alvarez :pac:

Being deadly honest and deadly serious ...... Conor can do whatever he wants. Truthfully. People won't like it but it's the truth.

If he wins this fight and calls out Woodley/Wonderboy, which would be madness, he'll get Woodley/Wonderboy.

People can disagree all they want but the money Conor is generating is unprecedented. The PPV's and Gates are ridiculous and this one is strongly projected to be the first 2 million+.

If it does surpass 2 million it gives Conor the record of the most PPV's sold in a calendar year (surpassing Floyd Mayweather 2015).

He can really call his own shots to a huge extent. More so if Ronda does return and get KO'd back into Hollywood by Amanda Nunes.

Fair play to him is all i can say.

If he loses the fight and has to go back to fw it'll be tough on him mentally as well as physically with the weight cut

I think on paper 205 is the best card I've ever seen, unreal.

But there will be injuries that will bring it back down closer to earth.

personally I think it's too soon for Conor.

I think he took a beating as well as gave one and then fighting about 12 weeks later is madness. Great for us but madness for him, could be a mistake too but I guess we'll see at this presser, ooooooooohhhhhhhhhh gonna be good!

If he was to win this does anyone think he goes up to 170 for a title fight? It would be another huge draw surely and it is the sort of thing you could imagine him trying.

No, I don't think he believes he could challenge at 170 tbh. He could probably make the top 15 with the right matchups, thats it.

    Fantastic 1st post

It's accurate though. He'd be man handled by any top 10 WW fighter at 170.

In your opinion, and your are entitled to it but don't make out its 100% certainty that he doesn't win.

Sure there's not 100% certainty he won't beat Stipe either but knowing what we do about size and weight classes and the reasons they exist we can use incomplete data-sets to extrapolate a pretty decent estimate of what would happen if you put Conor in a cage with Woodley, Wonderboy or Damian Maia.

They're built very differently but McGregor and Woodley have identical reach and Conor is slightly taller. I've seen them pictured together.

If Woodley got his hands on Conor it would get ugly though. Too much explosive power.

The height and reach might be similar, but Woodley is just much a bigger man.

Make Woodley cut to 155 (not really possibly, but lets hypothesise) and you have a different fight, but woodley doing his usual 25lb+ cut to 170 vs Conor who was 172 the week of UFC 202 and you have a horrible match-up.

Conor is going to break the UFC's PPV record 3 times in a year.

And Floyds record of most PPV's in a Calendar Year. Admittedly Floyd did it in 2 fights, Conor 3.

Floyd did 4.6 million for one Ppv . Conor won't be touching that any time soon

    McGregor vs Cyborg

145 champ vs 145 champ intergender match.

    10 mill buys.

He went on to tell a story of Frank Fertitta being shocked by how intelligent Trump is "in private".

Dana is full of poop to be frank.

He also said more than once Conor would either fight Aldo or be stripped of the Belt. He said that Eddie was fighting Khabib, he said Cyborg would never fight in the UFC unless she made 135.

Dana says whatever suits Dana, facts and reality be damned.

He went on to say Trump has a viscous streak, and that he can really see an interesting match up with Demitrius Johnson.

It's not that long ago he said women wouldn't be in the UFC.

I think his fights with Nate proved he can't deal with big LW's or WW's like he can the FW's

Long term the loss to Diaz in March was a good thing to happen, he probably could easily have faced Lawler at UFC 200 if he beat Diaz

Let's stop talking about Conor at 170, Kavanagh has even admitted that was a bad plan.
