Just been told that Conor was in Dublin airport as of an hour ago. Can't verify it myself but I'd imagine he's on the way over for tonight.

Apologies, made you look like you were talking to yourself there (deleted it as I meant to post it in the New York thread) :p

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping too. Man that 205 card is gonna be stacked if Aldo fights on it. Stacked as it is.

I've been kinda half thinking would i chance my arm getting a ticket and then worry about getting there afterwards :P

Seeing as it's a title fight and on earlier, I'm thinking it might be shown here in some decent places.

Cinema with a drinks licence would be ideal.

Is it definitely on earlier? Due to the size of it, will they not put it at Vegas times like someone else suggested, to max PPV?

10pm ET is 3am here so the fight will be on at similar time as normal.

    3am main card in Ireland.

UFC PPVs are usually later on the east coast to keep the time consistent everywhere.

    http://www.mmafighting.com/2016/2/10/10947926/eddie-alvarez-believes-theres-a-simple-way-to-win-against-conor

A quote from Alvarez before Conors fight with RDA got cancelled:
Interview with Eddie Alvarez from the lead up to UFC 196: There's a simple way to beat Conor McGregor, implement a strong wrestling gameplan and don't try to strike with him, it's frustrating nobody seems to be doing that

He also says Mendes conditioning wasn't great because of 2 weeks notice, and to implement a wrestling strategy you need a full camp to have that explosviness.

So it's safe to Alvarez is going to try and wrestle**** Conor. Do ya think Conor will bring in anyone in to mimic his takedowns similar to getting Conor Wallace to replicate Diaz's standup?

If he just spent lots of time with elite wrestlers like Wonderboy did, he would be very hard to beat. He already has 2 of the 3 things needed to beat most wrestlers, he's a master of range, great timing all he needs is that takedown defense.

Anyway that's enough of the grapevine stuff..... gotta love a Conor press conference! 10 hours....

10 hours. And for those waiting to see Conor, 10 hours 45 mins!

Ah dammit. Thought the fight itself would be three hours earlier (2am ish) in line with time difference, which would have been perfect for us here.

Well fcuk that for a game of soldiers. Red Cow it is so.

easiest way to give Dana a heart attack is for Conor to walk in 40 mins late with an unopened Monster energy.

Yes! Delighted by this, lots of butt hurt over it but he deserves it.

I heard last week from a journalist relative of mine living in New York that the fight would happen, as Mcgregor has a contract for a LW title fight not with a particular fighter. They couldn't deny him it if he wanted it.

I find that YouTube and Facebook comments sections aren't really a good reflection of reasonable human beings response to something. Keyboard warriors unite.

Dana White on SportsCenter just now:

"(if wins) conor will give up one of his 2 titles after 205".

(his choice which one to give up)

agree there its fairly damning for humanity in general :D

to be fair about the whole thing who else in the lightweight division has earned a title shot? dont think khabib has, two years ago 100% he would have barring his injury but his performance against horcher just doesnt warrant a title shot, he has to beat a top 10 guy to prove hes still got it. think khabib being out so long hes built up sort of a mystique about him, not saying this is everyone but for a lot of ufc fans, they started following after khabib's last fightand just see his record and not the quality of his past opposition or the quality of his fights

Absolutely pointless tokenism. He has no intention of ever fighting at 145 again, he should have been stripped of the belt the second this fight was agreed.

In fairness, at the end of the day, the UFC are out to make money, and this will maximise their profits by having McGregor fight at UFC 205.

No doubt he would only agree to it with a view to becoming a two weight champion, as he has held that ambition for a long time.

It is a win win for all involved really, especially if he does have to relinquish a belt after as it one of the divisions will be getting freed up.

With Dana's track record this means Conor will hold both belts if he pulls off the win against Alvarez :pac:
