regards Sago - was there much flavour? vegetables?

There wasn't much flavour sadly, but there was plenty of veggies. Plenty of everything else too, but landed firmly on the bland side. Housemate had a different main course and felt the same way.

Think I'll just get Miyazaki next time. Nom nom!

Tried to get into casanova gelato at 10:45 with some excited kids in tow. Sign outside said opening hours 10:30. Door open.
Went in and was told not open, come back in an hour.

That kind of bolloxology annoys me. If you open later, don't post incorrect opening hours.

Was in casanova Gelato there last weekend.

I am sorry but I do not rate it at all and the ice cream is tasteless. I got double chuc and herself got snickers and both just tasted wrong. Also they had very few flavs left like I think is nuts when a tray is gone they don't have another ready to replace it there was like 5 flavors left when I was in there

I also tought the ice cream was way to hard to be called Gelato. It just does not melt I found.

I forgot the place we went to in Cobh that do scoops ice cream was epic there.

I've been twice to Casanova Gelato and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The only thing was the second time I went there was a big queue and when I got to the top of it, there was very few flavours left so I chose strawberry (sorbet) and chocolate - the sorbet was only ok, I wouldn't be ordering it again. The chocolate was lovely though. I would echo the issue with the lack of flavours after a certain time and them not bringing out new tubs, but perhaps they were just overwhelmed with the amount of people coming....

I would worry also that it might just be a novelty at the start and with the winter coming that they might not be as busy but I hope it does well.

Their pistachio was the best I ever had and that is saying a lot considering the amount of great ice cream I have had in Italy. Really nutty with a nice hint of salt and the ice cream very rich and creamy.

Sounds like they are new and figuring things out so let's hope they can get their act together as is there really any good ice cream places in the city?

I got a great burger in Paddy the Farmer's recently. Really tasty, and they asked how I wanted it cooked! The only thing is it was served on wooden boards, well bamboo actually, but mine was cracked. It's an annoying way to eat, when I like to tip all the chips out of the tin they come in and select the choice few crispy ones!

Just ask for a plate and transfer. Not ideal, I know but it sends a message without a fuss and you get to eat off a plate.

Yeah, true, I could have done that. I was hungry though - I just got stuck in :P I will ask the next time.

I went to Kubo in Douglas. I played it safe for the first go with the crispy chicken in a honey and tamarind sauce.
All I can say is NOM.

Will most definitely be trying something more adventurous.

I would recommend ordering for collection rather than just dropping in as they are a bit on the slow side at the till but other than that it was great!
Oh and they have no card machine at the moment!

gosh your experience could not have been more the opposite of mine.. the gelato was soft and luscious.. i had hazelnut and tiramisu and they were divine... the flavours were so natural and full.... and it was so clean.. no starch or gunk unlike like others on the market..

i guess empty trays indicate how busy they are..

all their gelato is made fresh apparently that day so i guess its hard to keep on top of it... especially as they are so busy..

but its worth the effort for the real thing

Yes, I only like fresh icecream. None of that frozen stuff. ;)

I was down in kinsale for lunch today. Lemon leaf is where we ate. Very nice spot, child friendly with colouring for the smaller people. Had a mega chowder. Really delicious, big chunks of fish in it.

I tried Casanova last weekend. Was nice! Not absolutely amazing but was yummy. Best ice cream I've had was in Sicily. Hard to beat that.

Had the snickers one. Must try it again. I love pistachio ice cream but they didn't have it, so would love to try that if they have it next time. My favourite ice cream flavour is coconut but you rarely see it in Ireland.

Ate in iberian way on douglas street, the other night...
Very good overall, it felt like being on holidays... didnt look or feel like a restaurant in ireland...
The menu was all tapas stuff...
The more I looked at the menu the more things I liked the sound of .. I think the dishes were about 5 to 12 euros a plate... we got about 5 dishes, garlic prawns, little croquettes, oh and the star of the show" pulpo" octopus ... and a bottle of vino.. about 50 something euros...
Wasnt stuffed after... but didnt feel to go for chips either...:-)

Really impressive meal in Fenns Quay recently. Food was great, and the service was outstanding. Hadn't had dinner there in a while, but we were all very happy with it.

    Must try it then.

I had the masman curry and they had no problems getting rid of the peppers pit of the curry and was maybe one of the best I had.

Girl firend had the crisp chicken with curry sauce it was lovely.

And the staff in there really cared for us and came over and talked away and asked us what we liked and so on.

Form someone who used to work in the industry it means a lot when staff make sure your OK and ask how your day is going and where you from. As to many places in town where your only a number.

Visiting Cork soon with my husband. Would love a nice restaurant recommendation for somewhere in the city. Don't mind spending a bit. We are not picky eaters and my husband has a particular fondness for seafood. Thanks!
