Drying the towel is my problem. It soaks in so much water you really need to have two... one drying while the other is in use.

I have three! It's impossible to wring it out. At that stage its unusable.

You know, the weather here in Cork for the past two weeks or so has cheesed me right off. It's been too wet and damp to do any detailing (I'm not pushing the Escort out of the garage into the rain). Then today, the bloody showers means I cant get anything applied and finished.

The bloody weather also has the grass growing like crazy and as I type this, another shower has interrupted me cutting the grass. I want to get the lawns done before I break out the new batch of goodies from Detailing Shed.

After a recent stock supply from Detailing Shed, I said I'd post a pic of my stock!

    I think I have a problem :D

Going to have to get another cabinet. Organise my polishing pads and MF towels better. Plus have a few more 5L bottles and buckets to store.

Should we start a seperate thread? Call it Product Collections?

See the ocd has spread in to your organization of cabinets to :pac::pac::D

Mines like this now garage is over flowing with project parts.

Just visit After Hours and reply to 30 of the BS threads that are already there.

"Ask the poster above a question"
"Post a superstar you would roide"
"What do you eat for breakfast"
    "Should water tax be abolished"

    etc.

Not a bad idea! I read somewhere last night that it was 25 posts though so hopefully that's right if it's 50 I'll give that a shot

Called into Detailing Shed on Saturday. Got my first bits of cleaning kit sorted.

2 x buckets with grit guards.
    Microfiber madness incredimitt.
    Fat BOA towel.
    Bilt hamber auto-wash.
    Tar-x.
    Iron-x.
    Bilt hamber clay bar.
    PERL.
    Collinite 845.
    Red applicator pad.
    Blue buffing towels.

Thanks to the guys there for their help and responses to queries on here.

So I should be sorted now for all the basics. Just need some decent weather in the north west to get something done.

You'll notice I got no polish. Trying to decide if hand polishing is worth the effort for limited results or if it's best left until I can afford a decent dual action. Cars I have are far from mint, probably good for trialing. Hmmm.

Experienced something different today! My friend is a mechanic and mentioned he had to wash a car after he worked on it so i took an interest and went to watch. The soap of choice for the day was undiluted tfr and the washing utensils consisted of a sweeping brush and a pressure washer that I'm convinced was designed to remove tar from the ground or possibly for some other sort of demolition purposes! All tar and tree sap etc was removed after "the wash" (I would say more demolition of clear coat) and the car felt like it received a clay bar treatment! It was definitely an eye opener

Arbo94. Does he give all his customers cars a free wash when he works on them. I bet you'll be insisting he leaves yours dirty from now on.

I've never let him wash mine even though it's nearly 15 years old and the paint isn't great! I can understand why he does it like that my frustration is when the painter does the same with a freshly painted car!

Hey lads, just jumping in with a question about water marks on a polished and waxed car. Water doesn't bead and run of my car well but instead leaves like limescale water stains over it. Only visible from 10 feetish. If you rub a micorfibre cloth over it, it comes off clean but is annoying though.

Does this happen to everyone or is there a fix? Using mcguires wax.

Didn't realise they were out of them.
Perhaps Curran could enlighten us if they are on order or due in stock again.
Or other users could suggest other towel?

I picked up a set already. They are a bit smaller than the normal 5 for €4 that they have but they are good enough!

I'm thinking of getting into the machine polishing side for my car.
Looking at a few online videos it seems dual action polishers are the way to go for a novice as less risk.
Is there any particular machine anyone have experience of or recommends?

    What's your budget?

The range is out there is fair big, from your 30 sheets drill attachments to your 400 professional choices like Rupes bigfoot.

Personally have a rupes copy in a das 6 pro plus machine, can't complain does exactly what I have asked of it over the last couple years. Cost is about middle ground I think in region of 175-200.

Remember your budget needs to include pads n polish's, some places do kits now.

Detailshed is your local supplier as far as Irish goes, ask Curran on here, think he works there or email them for advice.

no set budget but don't want to get a top of the range that will be wasted if I discover I'm crap at it or don't have the patience or time to do it all.
I was looking at detailing shed alright.

I'd advise getting a loan of one if it's possible, I know it might be difficult but I know a few people that have used mine and figured out they don't have the patience

If you can't get a loan maybe something like the Argos job lads were referring to recently will start you off, see how you get on with it with couple pads and a sample kit of polishes from detail shed.

Keep in mind Argos machine may need a couple more passes to get your desired results when a daps 6 pro plus machine most likely work better due to more power, better throw etc of machine.
