That's a dìckish thing to say.

I've seen plenty of men who are old enough to know better act soft in the head over attractive young women, at the gym, with colleagues, friends. It's embarrassing and often discriminative and creepy.

It isn't unreasonable to expect a bit of professionalism for a service you have paid for. It isn't a youth club.

and likewise I've seen plenty of women look at guys in the gym like they're not worthy of a simple excuse me, or sorry about that, just because they think they're something they're not. Put them in a room full of stunners and they're annoyed they don't get the attention!!!

question.. is it annoying of me to go to my spin class wearing my new shiny half marathon medal from Saturday (brag brag) or is the finishers shirt okay?

    ;-)

I've never done a spin class I think I'd die

Their a laugh... Good music, disco lights and a nice cycle to get you sweaty perfect to ease out the legs after a long run

Spin is great. Tough but doable. You sweat loads and feel great afterwards.

    This..

Read any FB thread on the Flyefit page... 24 hour gyms with excellent equipment at cheap-as-chips prices in great locations... nothing but complaints/whines/moans... cracks me up...

just cos it's cheap doesn't mean a carte blanche to skip the basics.
like keeping machinery in working order, changing rooms clean etc...

wouldn't be too much to ask the PTs to stop hogging the track with their client for circuits so people could actually use the track for the sled and prowler (or are they only for illustrative purposes???)
because unless you go really early or really late - those "advertised" facilities aren't actually available.

yes 30e is great but a basic standard is expected..

that said the 24h thing is a godsend.

I dunno Man, ya can't shop in Lidl and expect SuperQuinn service... at €400 for two years' membership, I'm just happy the place has a roof on it!

€400 for 2 years? Basic Flyefit membership is €29 p/m, or €348 per year and that's if you weren't hit with a joining fee. Not much cheaper than RAW for example, which is a far superior gym.

Well I'd certainly agree with that - I only wish I lived nearer and wasn't so poor!

I was referring to the introductory offer I took up for Georges St FlyeFit - €199 a year for two years. Actually there was also a joining fee of €25, so it will work out at €423 for two years for me to a pretty darn good gym. I cannae complain, lad!

Apparently they have a standard pay-in-one-go fee that allows you join for 259 for 12 months. A friend of mine availed of the offer a few weeks back.

I know this is a common enough problem and it's probably already been mentioned, but I wish to God people would stop being so inconsiderate by leaving their weights on the bar.

I'm relatively new to weights and only lifting 5kg on each end so when I go to the bar and see much heavier weights already on it, it's hard for me to get them off.

It's worse if they've been left on the prowler; it's a lot tougher for me to get them off.

I will ask a guy if there's one around but why should I have to?
When I'm done with my weights, I put them back.
    It's basic manners.

    I have really annoying one..

There's a lady in my gym and every morning as I get ready for work in the gym changing rooms she plays the most obnoxious music on her phone at top volume. I mean the depressing break up playlist eg:

Sam Smith, Alexandra Burke, one direction, Adele, Beyonce, (her ones about jayz doing the dirt) and that stupid "this is my fight song", don't know who sings it.

I wouldn't mind if it was something a bit uplifting.

She's actually really nice we chat every day which is why I can't really say do you mind not inflicting your **** taste in music on me? Plan is to beat her to the punch and turn on some Metallica or something some morning just to see what happens..

Remember Tommy Tiernan on Father Ted? That is me every day after finishing in the gym and then going to listen to her music as I get ready for work :(:(

I took a 20lbs weight disk off the bar that was left on the preacher curl apparatus. It was located right beside the stairs that lead up to the gym. Like a couple of meters from it. I was doing my arms that day so they were fatigued, and I lost control of it as I took it off the bar, I dropped it, and it rolled down the stairs. My heart was in my mouth that it would hit someone as it trundled down to the bottom. That's an example of annoying gym behaviour, by me.

I saw a guy the other day that cracked me up. I don't care what people wear in the gym as long as they don't stink. But this guy just made me laugh to myself for about 5 minutes.

He was in decent shape, although his shoulders were either ridiculously out of proportion to the rest of him, or else he likes strutting around with them up raised around his ears. He was wearing all black. Black military style boots. Black jeans - tucked in. Black teeshirt with the sleeves rolled up over his shoulders. DOG TAGS hanging outside his tee. I mean, is he Rambo?

Between that and how he was walking around all you could do was roll the eyes and chuckle.

Now I am actually wondering if we are in the same gym (though it's not me, I promise :D)

    Two I've seen recently:

1: Fat powerlifter when he comes in chucking all of his gear on the bench press seat, when lads be wanting to use it. Done this multiple times.

2: I don't get women who put on makeup when they go to the gym, especially with any kind of sweat going on. Do they expect to get hit on/enjoy the attention or what?

Because women dont want to be looked at and objectified but they want to look good while not being looked at!

Its probably the same logic as women wearing very tight yoga pants and a sports bra only in the gym and then go home and complain that men are looking at them.

I purposely dont look at anyone in the gym.

yes because we only wear makeup so we look better for men and get attention from men.

its my dream to get hit on in the gym, so i make sure i look my best all the time, my squat form or weight or deadlift doesn't come into it, all i care about is how i look, so men will like me.

oh my god do you think i might find a husband there???

    better tell all my friends...

Maybe people have a tendency to judge women on their appearance so consistently and relentlessly that it makes them paranoid about being seen without make up in any circumstance. Which makes sense because they will apparently still get judged for wearing make up.

When you look like the Joker from Batman after a run on one of them machines, to say it looks a bit weird is an understatement.
