Flirting with personal trainer instead of exercising
 I don't get that one.
I mean it's obviously not a efficient use of exercise time™.
But who cares? It's their time to waste. PTs probably loving it.

No-curling in the rack is fair enough.
But no pressing, not sure about that one. I do that regularly. You might even be talking about me ;).
Although, no shortage of racks in the place in my gym.

EEk! I shoulder press in a rack. Is that really a no-no? I use the barbell supports to keep it at shoulder height for starting/ finishing.

On another note - I have experienced this twice now - people asking if they can work in, and then doing extended sets of decreasing weights without a break in between each, so a 30 second "work in" extends to a couple of minutes. Not a deal-breaker, but in gym etiquettw, is this okay?

And last night I wanted to work in on a back row machine and asked the two lads if I could, and they said yes cautiously, explaining that they would be needing it regularly as part of their circuit they were doing. I then proceeded to do 5 sets of rows with short breaks in between each set, and they never used the equipment once in that time yet kept their towels, etc on the machine to "mark" it. Even when I moved onto a different exercise they didn't use the equipment! Doh!

This would annoy me. In future if the same person asked again I'd ask if they were doing a drop set.

Guys in spandex with balls poking through.

Gyms have mirrors almost impossible not to see cock and balls....

Ogh and shoulder pressing in squat racks. With 5kg plates
    Curls in Squat racks
    Using your phone to facebook
Saying I don't want to get too muscly to a personal trainer when you have done nothing but talk.
Functional fitness that looks like a prison search against a wall.
Personal trainers who don't squat to depth.
    Flirting with me in gym
Leaving pre-workout poo/pee in Gym toilet
Leaving protein powder all over the sink
Flirting with personal trainer instead of exercising
Personal trainer who is obviously out of shape
    Pyramid Supplement schemes.
Adds for detox and cleansing products
Colonic ass hosing services in gyms
Supplement recommendations from random people who could do with eating a sandwich.
    Random oddball fitness machines

Pressing in a rack perfectly acceptable.

Selfies are bad. Those taking mirror photos are worse.

happened to me before. girl asked to work in on the leg press, I said yes, pumped out ten reps and then she gets in, does 20, then pause, then starts doing calves on it, then pauses back to another 20 reps, then goes for calves, at which point I say, sorry, If can just get in and do my set .....

Big puss on her and she storms off!!!

Had a Trainer ask if his client could work in on the cable cross over. Turned out he was having them do rows using the low pulley, then the high pulley with each arm. Extra slow negatives as well. Also had to prompt the Trainer to move when I wanted to do my sets.
I'd have finished all my sets in the time it took them to get one done

And thats it in a nutshell.

People pay rock bottom prices but expect rock star service!

    This..

Read any FB thread on the Flyefit page... 24 hour gyms with excellent equipment at cheap-as-chips prices in great locations... nothing but complaints/whines/moans... cracks me up...

Asking staff to occasionally say "Excuse me, if you are finished with those weights would you mind putting them back on the rack please?" is hardly expecting rock star treatment.

I know there's tons of tools in gyms, of all shapes and sizes. But occasionally I see a person who's got the focus and all the heart in the world but just has bad technique or form. they'd make great gains with 2 hours and a good trainer even... it's at these times I'd love to go over and say, you know I'd normally never do this but if you try looking ahead in the mirror and keep your hips below your shoulders and eyes ahead as you sink into the lunge..........

shouldn't really be on me, that should be spotted by a roaming gym instructor. I mean what did they get into it for in the first place, not the great money.. I'm assuming because the love it and can make a difference with people.

and that's the tragedy.....Makes David brent face!!!!

No matter what you're asking people to do, if you're constantly being ignored (which is exactly what happens), you'll stop caring pretty quickly. If you're getting paid peanuts, that'll happen a lot quicker.

    oh man....
Theres been a few threads on unsolicited gym advice recently (even in this thread) and the general conclusion was "don't do it"...
People (especially people that need it) are really sensitive and will think you're, a) hitting on them, b) being a dick or c) bullying them
Don't do it man.... Leave it up to the gym instructors to ignore them.

There's a fitness instructor in my gym who is always flirting with the young fit girls who come to his classes.

It's very annoying as he has no time for anyone else, especially if someone has a question about the class.
He's all about the young nubile girls and telling them to ask if they need his help.

    Very annoying.

yeah the young nubile part just sounded wrong. Are you older and feeling a bit left out? don't take it personally, you shouldn't expect all instructors to exhibit the altruistic qualities you're looking for maybe. in the end they're just young lads being young lads.

Id expect them to do there job in the posters place. Lads can be lads in there own time

question.. is it annoying of me to go to my spin class wearing my new shiny half marathon medal from Saturday (brag brag) or is the finishers shirt okay?

You need to turn up in full cycling gear like you're about to take part in the tour de france, wrap-around sunglasses and all.

Ya medal too. Have a look around your house for any community games stuff like u14 100m sprint. Walk into that place like MR T with a gold chain of medals. A few participation medals wouldn't go astray either!!
