I don't think its badly designed at all. Its a game that allows you to mess up and not hand hold you all the time.

Game are composed of arbitrary systems and a game that doesn't convey the rules of those systems to the player is badly designed. Or at least that mission was.

The convention is that you can end a mission once all of the criteria are met. Additional criteria which are not essential but will help are flagged as optional. In this mission - just this one example - you can end it far too early. To even know that there is a further option that can be explored you have to talk to a random NPC nearby who looks identical to all of the other hundreds of NPCs that are completely impossible to interact with and serve only as background flavour.

It's not good design, they're not following their own conventions that they established in the rest of the game.

At the very start of the game I knocked out the weapons dealer and his goons in the apartment near mine (not knowing he was a dealer).
I only found out later that you can buy 2 Praxis kits off him.
I'm running around with about 30k in my pocket and nothing to spend it on.

Cash is useless in this game, so what's the point of 'Credit chips' everywhere

Also, just like the first game, I've never used the 'Typhoon' , there's never a great situation to use it either (I also didn't upgrade to any of the experimental Augs)
Armor piercing Machine Gun and Sniper take down everyone quick enough.

There's no need to buy any praxis kits anyway, if you're playing stealth there's nothing to upgrade bar the basics. Saying that, remote hacking has been very useful during the lock down.

Yeah, the remote hack has been used quite a bit by myself. Definitely the most useful of the new ones.

I played on give me deus ex setting and thought it was rubbish, it was only when I started on NG+ on the lower difficulty and objects that it can work on get highlighted for you in the hood from miles out did I see how useful it could be :(

We live and learn I guess :D

I read on Reddit that if you do the "no reloading saves" version of the game then Typhoon can be really important for those "crap I'm in trouble" moments, because you can't reload and sometimes you just need everyone in the room to die immediately.

Personally I loved Icarus Dash. I always love hyper-mobility in games. Being able to use it to smash people in combat and to zip across open areas during sneaking is amazing. Also good for reaching high places.

My favourite moment in the game was when there were three guys standing near each other, and I zipped in and knocked one out with Icarus, then did a dual-takedown on the others.

Oh crap, no highlights on Hard? Flip.

Your asked to take over an investigation into a murder. What are the two classic staples of doing so in popular fiction?.... searching for evidence and canvassing the witnesses. I'm pretty sure the NPC you need to talk too repeats and audio queue as a hint. As for him not standing out, again it sounds like a case of wanting your hand held. What do you want, the game to trigger an automatic cut scene were you forced to talk to him or he's dressed up in a pink Batman outfit to get your attention?

The problem is, everyone wants to get "the best ending" and are not willing to live with there own decision. If the suspect there is a better ending and they can't figure out how to get it on there own they just go off and look it up online. At that point the game might as well be playing itself for you.

Could be for the System Rift DLC later in the month.

EDIT: It fixed Talos' hair during the conversation with him. He no longer looks like Nico Bellick after the cutscene :D

Jaysis that's not so much an ending as a "stopping", lol!

Good game, thoroughly enjoyed it, made it through without killing anyone! But I didn't get the achievement because I used the "kill switch" at the end... ffs, are you serious?! :)

I found the side quests better than the main quest and whoever thought
    locking down Prague
was a good idea needs slapping.
Lets take our lovely open world, and close it.
    >.<

    On the Harvester mission
I freakin' knew it was her from the very first second Jensen talks to her! I dunno why but something about her story just light up my spidey-sense like a light house
    .

I'm looking forward to just going through the game smashing stuff now, kill everyone Machine God will know his own! :)

I had about 5 praxis points left by the end and couldn't be arsed spending them tbh... I think if you are going stealth, a lot of the extras aren't needed, the parts aren't needed and the ammo isn't needed mostly (though I did grow to love my tranq sniper gun :) )

Looking forward to the DLC now if only to actually get some closure to the story lines hahah

Worst ending I can remember in a long time.
So Miller...even though taking orders from the illuminati...wasn't working with them ?

So who was leaking info about me heading to the other bases (I thought it was the pilot) ...as some emails you find refer to 'Old Blue Eyes' and his eyes are extremely blue compared to any other characters...he also seemed pretty shady throughout.

Also, I had to choose between a few hundred people and all the people in the meeting room....it was made to seem like an important choice. But I saved them both ?

God I get annoyed thinking about the ending of the game...I enjoyed the first 3/4 so much. The last 1/4 is just muck.

Might want to spoiler some or all of that Sean.

Did you not get a cut scene half way through the credits ?
it was the shrink in T29 leaking the info

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,733 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

meh i couldnt exit the credits so i closed it - they could have had that bit at the end of the cinematics instead of making ye watch the credits.

I did get the pacifist achievement though :)

Apologies for non spoilers. My bad. Thanks to mod for fixing it.
Her...really ? When I came back to the building before going off to London he was all happy and chatty with her. I think he just said 'so it wasn't Miller after all or something like that
The end credits...with the pics of developers that went on for 15 mins ?

I alt-tabbed out of that and was watching some music video or something waiting for it to finish....it was insufferable....I can't believe you can't skip it. So if anything happened 'during it' I didn't see it. I thought something might pop up at the end...ala Metal Gear or a Marvel film which is why I had it on in the background.

    What utterly crap ending.
Killed Viktor even tho I didnt have to, he was out cold and i double tapped him, didnt save the delegates.

It seems like there is something cut from the game, when in GARM I noticed emails from people who were in league with orlov but no mention of them previously. Its like there is a story there but missing.

    Good game, crap ending.

I chose to fight Victor also (saving the civilians)....but I was still able to get to the delegates in time and say "Hey...don't drink that" and save the day.
Milled died in my game apparently because I chose to save the watchmakers daughters instead of chasing the orchid at the bank(I didn't wanna go back there because I had completely cleared the place out earlier in the game....for no reason...considering credits are pretty much worthless)

I feel there is gonna be a whole chunk of DLC, similar to the one they had for Human Revolution....to fill in the gaps....but much bigger.

  • Registered Users Posts: 743 ✭✭✭KeithTS

I finished this yesterday and I didn't actually think the ending was all that bad.
After hearing about it I was expecting much worse.
I managed to save Miller, rescue the delegates and take down Marchenko. Making it possible to do all three is pretty nice imo.
The cutscene midway through the credits was tad too Marvel for me but it leaves things nice and open for them to rob us of loads more money for DLC.

The one thing that is really annoying me is the fact that they purposefully left a lot of the game out for DLC. I'm OK if I have a finished game and then a year later I get another large whack of content to bring me back into it but releasing DLC 3/4 weeks after release day when the fans are all on the same side saying the game is far from finished is a little crass.

Weirdly I can't remember if I managed this. I got to him in the
    kitchen
but had to run off for the other end-game things. Was
    he ok from there?

I gave Miller the Orchid antidote that you get form the bank.
After that I legged it (and got a bit lost) to the delegates...I lost my Foxiest of the Hounds trophy there as I just ran past the guards on the way throwing gas as I went.
Got there in time to say don't drink the champers and then did an about turn and took Marchenko down by lashing tranq rounds into him.

There's no mention of the Miller thing in the ending but he was given the cure.

I let the robots fight with Viktor then nailed him with a punch to the face.

It was actually very easy, the only time he seen me was when I was punching him in the face.
