Doesn't look too bad at all retr0. Looking at the video description I must read up on vector collision. Sounds interesting. :)

Also, have you seen there's a Humble GameMaker Bundle on offer at the minute? https://www.humblebundle.com/gamemaker-bundle

Looks good value compared to the Pro's current price on Steam.

Thanks for the link but I got gamemaker pro in a previous humble bundle sale :)

As for vector collision. Hit box collision tests if hit boxes overlap each frame. However that can lead to bugs where hit boxes pass through each other if they move too fast during a frame. You can see with vector collision that's not a problem.

You take the vector that you are moving over that frame and take that as a time, if a collision doesn't happen in that time then no collision takes place. If a collision happens then you can get the exact time that it occurs and use that to figure out how far an object moves before it stops due to a collision. Works for two moving objects as well. Use the theory of relativity you can treat one object as not moving and the other object as moving with a vector that is a combination of both objects vectors.

The N+ programmers tutorials are a good start, especially the separating axis theory (if all axes overlap you have a collision. For vector collision you have to check when that collision ends and they stop overlapping).

    http://www.metanetsoftware.com/technique/tutorialA.html

I don't think they explain vector collisions, they used multisampling in N which is a brute force method.

I used polygons instead of hit boxes because if will make things much easier when I start rotating objects or adding sloped surfaces.

One of my favourite SNES games got a new anime series, I think it had one already in like the 80s. Seems some of the episodes are on YouTube but I haven't looked into it too much.

So cute, I'll have to get the game soon.

Some chap finds an as-new Earthbound at a flea market.

One of the more fascinating bits, beyond the "Oh my jumping god" reflex, is the "$5.99" Best Buy price tag still stuck on the front of it. With how cult-like and sought-after the game has become in the last however since its release, it can be sometimes easy to forget its life as a marketing fail/bargain bin fodder.

Unbelievable find, the yellow lettering on that box is every game hunter's dream. How the hell were the scratch and sniff cards not there though? It looked untouched almost. Perhaps he hadn't looked inside the guide when he was filming.

It's M2 so I'm sure there's a wealth of options and you can turn those side bars off.

Scroll to the bottom of this link: http://m2stg.com/battle-garegga/

3,700 Yen (€32 approx) for the download version.
8,800 Yen (€76 approx) for the premium physical edition (even though there's no game disc)

    Not impressd with the pricing.

    A physical edition for 76 euro...with a download code?

I can't even begin to express how daft that is.

    Yeah...
    Defending the indefensible...

I still find myself playing NMS
Not sure what I expect to find on the next system.
Torturing myself trying to find nickel deposits....
Think it's time to move along.
Wait for the inevitable game improving patches and updates.

Also, is it me, or does Horizon: Zero Dawn seem to be going down the same line as No Man's Sky? What exactly are you supposed to do from the footage seen so far? All I've seen is hunting robots for resources and...well, hacking into their brains.

Have sauntered well past my 30th hour with No Man's Sky and continuing to find it one of the most relaxing games I've ever played. It's like the video game equivalent of a nice hike in a random direction, and I thoroughly appreciate just being able to drop in for an hour and go any direction I feel like. Still finding really interesting new places (tonight discovered a densely forested winter planet that is littered with one of the rarest items in the game, and by rare I mean I don't recall seeing any more than one or two before). Plenty of problems and places to grow, for sure, but no apologies for standing up for a strange, beautiful game.

On another topic, gave Eschatos a whirl tonight, and that soundtrack <3

It's beginning to look more and more like they are going down the Ubisoft open world route with hunting for towers and icons on a map. Also story is looking to be awful with some hilariously bad writing and a main character that is pure Mary Sue. The combat does look like it could be fun... but then I remember it's from Guerilla games, the bastion of bland, and I don't get my hopes up.

If only I could get over the crappy inventory that seems to be actively trying to stop me enjoying the game. Even though the game is as deep as a paddling pool I could see myself enjoying it if the inventory system was just managed a whole lot better.

I've been playing Samorost 3 on iOS as its 15 euro cheaper than Steam, but It reminds me of a game you would enjoy. The art style is amaazing and theres no other game quite like it, a truly unique experience.

    http://samorost3.net/

As for Horizon Zero Dawn, im not really bothered about the story, while it would be a better game Im more excited for the combat and gameplay.

I know that like No Mans Sky, i'll get a lot of enjoyment just exploring the beautiful world they have created so it will be a pre-order buy for me.

I dont get how people are saying that the Robosaurs thing has been done to death either!
The only last Robosaur I can think I've seen in a game is Revenge of Shinobi!

I think its a fresh concept, and the original trailer is nothing short of beautiful.

Aren't 95% of video game characters just power fantasies? People freaked out when they tried to make characters like Samus and Lara Croft actually have vulnerabilities and some level of depth.

That said, people also freaked out that No Mans Sky was delayed by 2 months and then also freaked out that it was released with bugs... so I guess the only real conclusion you can draw is that gamers are idiots.

You kids don't know what your want. That's why you're still kids, cos your stupid!

Yes most games are just power fantasy sports but Horizon seems to be taking videogame writing to a new level of lazy. I'm not sure where I read it but Aloy is the typical character found at birth by a tribe with a mysterious past she must discover. There's a lot more to it but it's all equally mundane and obvious, lime a character created from a creative videogame writing 101 text book.

And then calling her Aloy... Really clever and symbolic.

She'll be a strong character but the problem is she'll probably be a badly written one going on the information I'm going. That's kind of the problem with Samus and to a lesser extent the new Lara Croft. Samus was just totally at odds with her previous character, a battle hardened veteran mercenary that saved the universe twice now has a poor excuse for a mother complex and is frozen in fear at the sight of death. Lara was well done in the beginning but that falls apart when she goes on a murderous rampage. Uncharted suffers from the same thing.

    That's just nuts.
I mean, someone had to take the time to make the art for it, must have identified a market.
    Wow.

I really hate the whole 'gamer' term that is in use these days. I've been asked by people that have no idea about videogames if I'm a 'gamer' as if my whole personality and lifestyle is dictated by the fact I play videogames. I just tell them no, I'm not a gamer but I do like to play videogames as a hobby.

It's even worse now that it's become somewhat associated with the gamergate morons.

Might want to think about changing your username so :pac:

I really cringe when I hear that term.

Always envisage someone with no hobbies other than sitting in front of an xbox playing COD for 10 hours a night.

Yeah...it's why I've moved on to using the term "game enthusiast" these days. You never hear a guy who watches movies a "movier".
