I think that's just normal activity, doesn't mean it's for fibre rollout.

3 speeds anywhere between 0. 5 and 10 down but very unstable recently. I'm in a marginal coverage area. Both Meteor and Vodafone have much faster speeds but not enough monthly allowance for us.

    Roll on FTTH!!

Im waiting for winter 2016-17 for my ftth on the blueline too.

I'm with meteor at the moment, getting about 10-20meg on my 4g connection, but it has been slowing down lately probably due to contention. And Im constantly buying data add ons because I keep going over the cap.

I see imagine are in the area offering about 600gigs a month compared to my 50 with meteor.
100 euro to break contract means about 4-6 months worth of data add-ons with meteor but Imagine has a 100 euro installation charge too.
So I think i'll hold out for FTTH till at least the new year and see if things are moving.

I presume we should know more by the new year?

We should hopefully know much more much sooner than that. September is only 2 weeks away and the wiring process hasn't started yet. Fingers crossed we start to see more widespread wiring work starting in the next week or so. Once the autumn/winter 2016 exchanges get started we'll know fairly quickly how fast they are moving and will give a good indication of what areas will be live before Christmas.

There be no harm in getting imagine LTE given that you don't mind paying €100.Im down for 2016 - 2017 it going to be a long wait,I would say go for it and when you have FTTH just cancel imagine LTE.

Funny. People were saying the exact same thing before the FTTC rollout too.
If you are within 1Km of a cab you will definitely get it, no exceptions. Look how that turned out though.

Tbh that was more of a rule of thumb used here on boards than anything else although it is technically the distance it goes. Yes there are places where it doesn't apply but for the most part it does.

They were installing orange fibre cable in Dunleer, Co. Louth today
Whereabouts in Dunleer is this? Was it being done up poles or all within manholes or in the ground?

Dunleer has an Autumn/Winter 2016 completion date FYI

It was on the R132 in manholes - I haven't seen them putting any in poles yet but hopefully soon!

Noticed a pole with a D on it last week
I passed it yesterday and there is a new one in place now.
Pity it's the other end of the road from mine.
It is on one of the blue lines.

im really not sure it means much, there is a pole on our road with a D on it for over 6 months now.

    What did it look like?
Was it a metal plate screwed into the pole?
Or like etched/burned into the wood?

I don't think so. In an area due to get FTTH by Spring 2017 these D plates have recently appeared on several poles along the blue line route. KNN have also been spotted in the area. I believe the appearance of the plates is the first sign of the deployment commencing in an area.

The ones I have seen are all white metal with a red D and are nailed to the pole.

there is one of those on my road about 700meters away, it's on the second pole beside the 1km of ducting that was completed in April. I haven't seen any others along this route.

Pole outside my house had the red D on it a few weeks ago, KN removed the pole and installed another, i just assumed it was dangerous as it was listing to port. I am on a blue line and village is listed as FTTH project.

Fair enough, but the amount of time that some poles have had that D marker on them precedes the "blue lines" by a number of years. That info doesn't preclude that the recent sightings of the D mark isn't for the FTTH rollout, it just means that the twitter post is wrong to suggest those Ds are entirely because of the FTTH rollout.

I remember them on my road in 2012 but that was when they were bringing the fibre cable into the exchange so maybe relates to that too??

In April a subcontractor fo KN replaced a line of poles past my house and I asked what were they upto and he said it was for hanging new fibre cables. Even though the blue line stops 300 metres from me and then restartes 1km from me in the other direction so house in between dont seem to be eligable crazy to me.

Good chance you'll get it so. The blue lines aren't definitive anyway.

On closer inspection it's a D on the pole, only one pole seems to have it, others have been cleared of ivy and barcode added

I think they've always had barcodes.

Interesting to note today I saw Open Eir trucks driving back after installing new poles somewhere. While on a drive later on between Dunshaughlin and Ratoath I noticed Eir have replaced quite a few poles on the section of road between the blue lines of Ratoath and blue lines of Dunshaughlin (the only 600meters of road not blue lined)..... could just be normal pole replacement or perhaps they are extending this beyond the blue lines on the map.

Or that perhaps they know they are going to win the contract or that if not, they know the winner will be using eirs poles...

Or that they are running fibre to the cabinet up the road TAA1_E01. At Tara...

Ok, but they've cleared the ivy to make them visible, which may be relevant.

Pretty sure it is relevant. They have been doing this all along the blue route for the Tara exchange (on the Skryne side anyway), and many of the poles now have fibre cabling installed and awaiting further connection. They did my road over a month ago now. Lots of trees will have to be trimmed to progress much further I think.
