Is this the omnium or whatever they call it? Caught a bit of it earlier, really fun event though I didn't really understand what they were trying to do.
I thought it was five different (but equally demented) events? Think I heard someone refer to it earlier as a pentathlon on bikes!

I think it's five for women and six for men.

It's rightly weird whatever it is :D

Omnium is the track cycling equivalent of the heptathlon/decathlon. The elimination race for the womens event was just on....last at the end of every second lap gets eliminated, til you have a sprint between the two remaining riders

You think, purely for PR purposes, they'd manage something easily enough. Their PR department are long gone home I'd say so who knows what might happen tomorrow.
Is it not her brother who's trying to change flights though?

In fairness, Iberia may not quite get the significance of the brother being the one tweeting all the updates for the eager fans at home who are starved of coverage by the meanies controlling the broadcasting in Rio.....

Then again, they might! I hope they do!!

Laura Trott is leading it at the halfway stage.

I have no idea whatsoever what's going on, but that's what the leaderboard and the presenter just said!

yep, thats the one. She's like a machine on the bike. Blitzed them away in the two races I saw this evening

I'd be hopeful this will be sorted out. Somebody should ring Paddy Power, their PR department love an opportunity like this :D

It is, but she's asking. Iberia replied asking did she book with them directly which is why I think they didn't really understand her request.

Ah yeah...definitely what i was watching earlier. In that race one of the competitors streaked ahead and then lapped the field and then stopped. That was significant for some reason I couldnt understand. Then Trott won the race. But she only came second!

    Confused? I defintely still am!

Track cycling is great, though. There's a team event in which they're allowed to give each other a shove and it's totally chaotic and incomprehensible and brilliant but, alas, not an Olympic event.

i *think* in the scratch race, if you lap the field you win the race automatically.

so even though Trott crossed the line first at the end, the other cyclist had won as a result of getting a lap on them all.

Some people on here are a lot more knowledgeable on track cycling and may be able to explain it better.

It looks like great craic though, great variety in the rules for the different races

She seems relaxed and quietly confident :)

Seems there is a bit of a breeze forecast for 1pm too (though we know that things keep changing quickly in Rio)

Thomas Barr looks like a very genuine, decent guy. Best of luck to him in the semis.

I know it's only interview but she seems so much more relaxed then 4 years ago. Bit more confident now

    Still could be tough day

By my calculations Barr was 11th fastest in heats today so never know might get into final

Not really cool to be booing the Russian. Not his fault if the scoring system is ****ed up.

Madison - was in the Olympics up to 2008.

Tag-team lap-ahead cycling with intermediate sprints for points.

I'm by no means a boxing authority ........... but that decision in the heavyweight boxing is an utter farce. This Olympiad is disappearing up its own hole.

Absolute farce and an Irish judge in the middle of it. Shameful.
