    Here's a thing I've been wondering.....

How come basketball players can shoot baskets from the other end of the court to the sound of shouting and roaring and whistling, and badminton players can happily get through a game with the spectators Olé-ing away at the top of their voices, and vollyball fans get to vent their spleen as much as they want......

but if you so much as think about opening a sweet wrapper or make the tiniest catcall in tennis, the whole thing grinds to a halt until there's monastic silence again.

Why are tennis players so precious?

Rugby, diving, athlethics the same, silence expected before they start

Still feeling sorry for the Argie who got thrown out last night?

As for your question, its a very good one, sadly I have no idea what the answer is!

But how come all the other sports manage with a bit of audience participation? Surely they need as much concentration? Or maybe the tennis players need to get over themselves a bit!

Fair Play to Evans, the other guy is clearly the more skillful player but he kept going till the end with passion.

    Evans is out.

But he made a fight of it near the end and won a few points. He should wind up moving up the rankings too, right?

Well the Olympic champion has somehow made it through in the end, pulled it out of the bag on the last dive while others faltered.

I must say it is very unusual to see a professional female athlete with any kind of chest!

Is this the omnium or whatever they call it? Caught a bit of it earlier, really fun event though I didn't really understand what they were trying to do.

think it is yes, six races of sprints for the first five then the medal race? Last one in each sprint is eliminated.

You think, purely for PR purposes, they'd manage something easily enough. Their PR department are long gone home I'd say so who knows what might happen tomorrow.

I still doubt the person manning their Twitter feed knows the full story.
