    I'm bargain orientated.
I just can't bring myself to spend major dollars on a single game purchase these days.
Far more enjoyment to be found opening a package from some eBay seller and finding a Famicom game that cost you a fiver and gives hours of entertainment.

I tell you, I'm playing through Fallout 4 right now and it just feels like a complete chore.
Play a spot of Time Crisis though and it's a riot!

I use to get an odd bargain on gaming stuff but haven't gotten anything in years. Best I've gotten was a book. The princess bride uk 1st edition in excellent condition for 50c bargained down from a euro.
finally saw a uk 1st edition today for sale and its up at over thousand sterling from a proper seller.
Think I'll sell it and buy a famicom AV with all the megamans and a mint copy of Golden Axe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,639 ✭✭✭✭OwaynOTT

Obviously the mint copy of golden axe, would be going to Ciderman along Streets of Rage and another 'generic' beat 'em up and not for use in the famicom.
I feel I didn't make that clear enough earlier.

Holy ****balls, the S2DSNES is expensive. 140 sterling :/

    Was looking on retrotowers.co.uk

I would prefer new than eBay. Any other retro sites with a decent price?

Yeah, its a pricey cart. But then again a couple of nice condition hard to find SNES games will cost you that anyway :)
So, like, you're saving money :D

I usually end up buying them anyway :(

    It's great fan translations though.

Unfortunately I see Marvelous is on a list of games with unsupported chips. Pity as it's a game I'd really love to play in English. I guess emulation is the only way to go in this case.

Is that the one built on the LttP engine? Could you use a donor cart with those same chips, & use a tsop/flash setup to make a repro?

Yeah it is. Seems it uses the SA-1 chip, same one in the Super Mario RPG and Kirby's Dreamland 3 carts which makes them hard to run on even modded hardware. I think your method might be the best way but there's also no telling whether the fan sub was created with emulation or real hardware in mind which could lead to crashes on real hardware like Magical Pop'n for example.

It's quite a new translation so I'd say it is probably compatible with real hardware but you can't be sure unless you look into it.

My Snes is a switchless region mod and runs both Super Mario RPG and Dreamland 3 just fine.
In fact, my modest Snes collection is most of the stuff I need or want, so I haven't felt the burning need for a Everdrive or similar, the MD on the other hand...

The switchless mod to get SA-1 games working is only relatively recent, it was impossible before that came about.

The Everdrive is great though for fan translations, there's way more of those on SNES than Megadrive. Even games released in English can be improved. Cybernator for example had the story simplified, they removed the talking portraits for being too anime and also censored a pretty cool scene with the president committing suicide.

I love the mini carts.. (NFC tag in a plastic shell) and the fact that you can insert them.

I'm not sure if those scenes are restored in Assault Suits Valken on the PS2.
It has a few gentle enhancements, nothing to change what the game is.

Anyone know if those blue elf adapters work with the Pandora's Box multiboards? Or if there's a better way to get them working with jamma.

I've heard there's some trouble getting them working with standard jamma.

Mine Pandora 3 had some issues with pin 27/28 for buttons 4,5,6.

There is an adapter but i didnt get it.

Ya its the buttons 4,5,6 cause the problems, there are on the jamma edge at pins 25,26,27. Normally 25,26 are unconnected and 27 is connected to Gnd so you'll need to modify your jamma loom or get an adapter.

Oh the fun O1s1n and I had with one of those infernal boards, a pile of @rse.

Raspberry Pi3 is cheaper and better tbh.
Totally customisable, you can select whatever systems you want, from PS to PSP, from Arcade to Gameboy advance.
Plenty of learning to be had, as you have to set the thing up and tons of effort needed.
But it's well worth it all.
    The results are fantastic.
Mines running in my cab and is a treat, soon to be replaced with a Pi3.

No, some Chinese do dad that takes inputs and outputs them as a PS3.
That then into the Pi via USB.
Some soldering requires but works a treat.

    Yup.
And the Pi emulators are pre mapped for PS3, so minimal work needed there.
The front-end might need setup and Mame certainly does, but it works a treat.
Check out the mapping to the terminals on the board, just so the connecting goes well.
    But it's spot on.
And not a keyboard mapper, so no delays.

I saw on FB there's Funko Megaman figures, thought someone here might like them.
I'm not a fan of the style but I think Proto looks fine and Rush is pretty cute
