I think instagram is like all social networks. It was designed for people with genuinely interesting things to share but taken over by your average Joe who likes to share pics of his Nandos chIcken or clouds.

Just watching Sky News. Sadly looks like something bad has happened in Nice during the Bastille Celebrations tonight.

Edit - A truck has crashed into a crowd of people. Still unclear if it was an accident but being reported as a possible attack.

I'm not really sure what you are supposed to do with instagram.

Do you put up pictures with the aim of gaining as many likes as you can?

I'm not on instagram but I'd imagine this lady is on it to show how hot she is.

There may be correlation here as to why I'm not on it :pac:

Yeah, it was deliberate, 30-50 dead, reports are a bit scattered at the moment

Bastille Day festivities would be the equivalent of the St. Patrick's Day parades here. Horrific to think of all the families with young kids out to see the fireworks and have a nice time and then this happens. You can't even begin to understand the mindset of someone who would do such a thing.

Our society is doomed. If people need to be told this then it's already too late for them.

Interesting data on terrorism in Western Europe since 1970.

It's actually way down since the height of the IRA/ETA in the 80's.

Get a raspberry pi and use this and don't limit yourself to just NHS games https://retropie.org.uk

But yeah I had the same reaction as you

I did that with a raspberry pi. Had all snes, nes and megadrive games loaded up with an xbox controller for input. Then I never used it.

Sounds about like what I'd do :)
And probably what'll happen with like 90% of the new NES machines that get bought

Galway named European Capital of Culture for 2020. Good bit of business for the West.

Jo Cox's funeral happened in Yorkshire this afternoon. I always find it odd that they sometimes take so long to bury people in the UK. Obviously sometimes there are circumstances which mean the body can't be released straight away or whatever but it's been about 4 or 5 weeks now since she died. What does a family do in that time? Do you go back to work/school and then take a day off for the funeral? Do you have to be old fashioned style "in mourning" the whole time in between?

Where is a good place to live in Dublin?

Is that asked in the same tone as "why is there never a taxi around when you need one?"
    ;)

No I'm actually fairly possibly moving back, so I'm interested to know what's good these days

Oh in that case ranelagh, terenure, templeogue would be just the tip of the (nice) iceberg.

  • Renting or buying ibf?

Perhaps we'll get into a bidding war on a place. Seems inevitable. :pac:

It seems Brock Lesnar has failed a drugs test.
UFC seems to be getting a bit of a rep for this kind of thing

I don't think any of the other major American sports test to such a high level, so if by rep you mean catching the dug cheats than that's a good thing to me.

They somewhat recently handed over all their testing to USADA. I'd be facinated to know how certain other sports would get on under the same circumstances

Chael Sonnen (a self-admitted drug cheat, as well as a cheat in other areas!) was on Joe Rogan's podcast last week and it was absolutely fascinating to hear about it from that perspective: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAnLPKGbytU

UFC deciding to nip their drug problem in the bud should be applauded. A lot of US based sports have laughable drug testing programs.

Well, they have to now don't they if it's big business. The guy Lesnar beat has had 3opponents fail tests , that's absolutely shocking and wouldn't be tolerated in any other combatitive sport.
