Are you actually at all interested in figuring out the cause of the problem and how to remedy it and improve society and the world we live in, or are you just basking in the hatred?

Islam is the cause of the problem. Those 'basking in the hatred' are those murdering innocent men, women and children in French streets in its name.

I dont see any solution to the problem. Any attempt to criticise the ideology that fuels these murders is shouted down as racism by the same people who openly welcome millions more young male followers of Islam into Europe as refugees.

I fear its too late to do anything about it. Doing so would involve changing the liberal democracies we are trying to protect in the first place beyond recognition. In a way the Islamists have already won.

Of course, we get it. Islamists are not really to blame, its all our own fault because reasons.

I love France, it is sad that the people have been told they have to live with terrorism as a part of life in the country.

Islam is the cause of the problem.
So you also consider black people 'the problem' in the US, and that it has nothing to do with the actual system around them.

How come Islam isn't 'the problem' in Toronto?

Those are the options now. Tolerate Islamic mass murder or turn your country into a police state.

This **** is the death of liberalism in Europe.

It wasn't terrorism in the organised sense. It was a looper who had a grudge and a breakdown. That won't bring the dead back I know that.

    But heightened alert now.

Where did I hear that before anyway? And still awful things happen.

Maybe their guard was down after the Euros went off without a hitch or something.

Islam is the cause of the problem.

Wrong. There are many causes. You would do well to to unblock your ears and learn the other causes. Many of the causes are in fact socio-economic,.

    Evidence?

Something from a jihadi blaming the rate of dole, or the quality of his council flat?

And they were carried out in the name of Christ?

Are you going to claim the people killed on the roads in car accidents were Christians killings too?

Ah of course. That would explain why all the other poor immigrant, ethnic groups and religions in Europe are also carrying out regular mass murders. Silly me.

So why is Islam not the problem in Toronto?

And I take it black people inherently bad/evil in the USA too, as opposed to any other factors playing a part, right?

Thats a weirdly specific question. Has Toronto has decades of Islamic immigration to the point where 25% of its under 18s are Islamic?

When I moved to Canada they only accepted skilled immigrants.
And I take it black people inherently bad/evil in the USA too, as opposed to any other factors playing a part, right?
Is 'what about the blacks' the new 'what about the bible' now? More whataboutery. I dont recall French Muslims being subject to hundreds of years of slavery in France?

Well said. It's not the problem in Mitchelstown either or lots of other places.

By your logic, it has to be the case. Otherwise you are just prejudiced against Muslims without any consistent justification.

I wouldn't be crowing too much.
Ever read Tarek Fatah author of Chasing a Mirage: The Tragic Illusion of an Islamic State.
He is founder of the Muslim Canadian Congress and served as its communications officer and spokesperson for several years.
Fatah advocates gay rights, a separation of religion and state, opposition to sharia law, and advocacy for a "liberal, progressive form" of Islam.

Now this same guy has raised "the issue of Islamic clerics using mosque sermons to attack the foundational principles of Western civilization and liberal secular democracy."
He was accused by Liberal senator Grant Mitchell that he was motivated by Islamophobia.
Yep a Pakistani born muslim is islamophobic.

Actually one very apt statement he has made which is very important in light of discussions here on modernising islam is the following:
"it is not Islam that needs to be reformed, it is the need for Muslims to reconcile with modernity and the notion of the secular nation state ... Unfortunately, whereas the religious right in Islam is well funded and well organised, the liberal secular Muslim is too busy leading a 9-to-5 life, paying his mortgage and providing for his family and thus has no time or resources to challenge the Islamist extremists."

Well there are Buddhist fundamentalists roaming around Burma beating and hacking people to death.

Are they attacking people out celebrating in Europe ?
Are the kids of Burmese Buddhist immigrants to Europe hacking the heads of people in Europe or even in Burma ?

I am not allowed discuss …

    That's a survey I haven't carried out,

There are however Catholic countries that persecute and even kill gays. Like I said before, all religion is fnucked up.

Christians who take the religion seriously are so loving.....

    https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2016/jul/14/el-salvador-abortion-law-change-women-facing-50-years-jail
El Salvador already has some of the most draconian anti-abortion laws in the world, but they could become even stricter if Congress adopts an opposition proposal to imprison women for up to 50 years if they terminate a pregnancy.
The Nationalist Republican Alliance (Arena) has submitted a motion to reform article 133 of the penal code, which stipulates the penalty for women who cause or consent to an abortion.
Existing sentences range from two to eight years – far higher than most countries, even in conservative Catholic Latin America – but the rightwing opposition wants to increase this from a minimum of 30 years to a maximum of 50 years. This is equivalent to the sentence in El Salvador for aggravated murder with “extreme cruelty”.
Christianity (if you read the Bible literally) tells you that you should sell your daughter if she is raped.

There are many parts of the bible that condone genocide against those that aren't believers or eve just from another tribe.

Exactly. You don't want to talk about the issues, you just wanted to pile in on the Muslim bashing. Goodbye then.

So deeply shocked, yet another reason why "checking" people simply isn't good enough there is no way to prepare for an attack like this without banning everyone from public places.

I think it's time to start screening citizens and removing threats everywhere in the world, things like this should not happen, so many innocent people lost so tragically.

    For what?

Interrogator: Take a seat, Sir. Now, which do you prefer? Icecream or terrorism?

Potential Terrorist: Icecream for me please!

Interrogator: Okay *stamp*. You passed and are free to go. Next please!

Potential Terrorist: Don't I get any icecream?

It's impossible to screen mass numbers of migrants from these regions. The FBI have admitted this themselves.

Toronto has had and will possibly continue to have issues with Islamic extremism.
You just choose to ignore reality when people point it out.

This might have been covered already but how did the guy on the motor cycle know the truck was going to drive into the crowd? Was that the beginning of the rampage or had the truck already hit people?

He may have just seen it go down a cordoned off road and trying to warn him to stop, innocently thinking it was a mistake, but the no stopping then speeding up was a concern :(

He seemed more panicked than that, he tried to open the door of a moving truck, fell off his bike and it seems went under the wheels and died.

It might come out, or might go unexplained. I heard reports he was in hospital (alive) but no idea if he has passed. It is odd though for sure.
But very soon after that, the police were firing on the truck, so might have known it was bad.
