Hatched my first 10km egg this morning, CP 362 Pinsir with Rock Smash and X-Scissor. :(

    Gutted for ya....

I have 2 10km eggs on the go. One is at 8km and the other at 6km. If i don't get something decent i'll be very annoyed.

worst feeling was finishing a 5km egg and it just went back into my bag instead of hatching

Presumably if we've signed in with Google all our progress will be saved, so we could uninstall and install the official when it's released and lose any progress, right? I know we shouldn't have to uninstall anyway.

Someone earlier suggested that when it actually goes live here everyone will be reset. Be interesting to hear of this is true from the UK, I actually wouldn't mind, everyone starting off from the same level again would make it more exciting as everyone would be trying to reclaim their gyms etc
I've just deleted my us download and reinstalled the uk version and all is still ok. I was nervous doing it though

Think the pokemon is set to the level when you got it not when hatched.

Can someone clarify, does the pedometer for egg hatching still go with the phone in your pocket and the lock screen on? Or do you have to hold the phone in your hand and make sure the app is active to keep it going?

App has to be active. Not sure how it counts steps. Misses most of them anyway, takes around 15km to hatch a 10km egg.

You have to keep it active from what I can gather.

So far from eggs I've gotten -

    Cp40-something pidgey
    Cp 121 clefairy
Cp 111 meowth with 21 candies
Cp 76 meowth with 21 candies
Cp122 onix with fcuk all candies!

It seems to be that you have to be running the app (I haven't seen mine go up while I've had the screen locked). Maybe if you can get the phone thingy they talked about you'll be able to go it without running the app all the time.

Phone has to be active, I dont understand how anyone can say you have to walk 15k to hatch a 10k egg, the app doesnt count steps it relies on gps which would be pretty dam accruate.

Theres a pokestop just inches away from my phone able to reach it from my desk at work. I managed to get my avatar to run that direction yesterday by playing around with the GPS accuracy settings on my phone, switching it to Device only seemed to work.

Today when I do that, it sends puts me back as if I was in my home! Was so handy being able to hit a pokestop during the day.

It should be accurate, but it's not in my experience. Tracks much lower distance than is tracked on google fit for the same period.

I go for a 2.5k walk at lunch and it doesn't always pick up the full amount. Definitely a bit hinky.

Be careful about downloading this app from sources other than Nintendo and sideloading it: there may be Trojan Horse spyware / adware included. This article has more details and includes the SHA256 hashes (checksums) of the safe and infected files. This page has instructions on how to actually do the SHA-256 check.

As the game doesn't give you much of a helping hand starting off... Is there a tutorial floating around for newbies?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,084 ✭✭✭n1ck

I just keep the app open and put it in my pocket when I walk, does the job!

This, also remember to turn on battery svaer mode in the options so when you turn the phone on its head the screen goes dark, the app stays open though

there is some sort of sleep mode in the game that will allow you to walk with it in your pocket while saving your battery

egg hatching mode...have read about it but not found it

Click the pokeball while viewing the map, in the top right is settings menu, select battery saver option, when you turn the phone on its head the screen will go dark now, it doesnt turn off the screen just goes to a near black splash screen

I'm finding that very odd in fairness cos its the same map overlay and same gps device so should be the same unless they rushed the game out with plenty of crappy bugs in it.

Anyone figured out at what speed the app decides you're driving? Think I might hold up some traffic on the way home today...

Ive only seen guesses but around 10-12kmph+ seems to be the consensus, basically rush hour is now your firend

The general consensus I've seen seems to be that when you're going above either 12 or 15 km/h, you're not walking.
