Why isn't Lesnar Hunt 5 rounds now, is it just because its only on 2 days notice or?

    Pretty much.

Not that I think it will matter.

It will either be a 30 second KO for Hunt or a 3 minute TKO for Lesnar IMO.

Look, I think everyone gets that it makes business sense after shrewdness's post. And this is a business. However that doesn't mean we all have to accept it. I know there is very little alternative, but it still sucks as a main event, and THE main event, on UFC 200. It's just a disappointment IMO.

Obvious dissapointment on your part aside, Brock is the money fight, what is there to not accept? The UFC know all the real MMA fans are almost certainly buying this PPV, they're trying to get as many casual fans to buy it too, and Brock Lesnar is more well-known to non-MMA fans than Aldo or Edgar are(when you leave aside the casual fans who follow McGregor who would know who Aldo is, but won't be watching this event because McGregor isn't on it).

It doesn't suck at all as a main event IMO. It's going to be an exciting fight for however long it lasts, probably less than 5 minutes but there won't be a dull moment. It is of course a big step down from Cormier vs Jones though, there's no question about that, but to say you don't have to accept it? I reckon you'll still tune in because the whole card is fantastic top to bottom, and that's what matters to them at the end of the day.

Accept might be the wrong word in this context, cos it's happening. But disappointment is all down to the individual and I do not know why you guys can't just take it that someone might not be as interested in this fight than you are.

A simple google tells me there are 1000s complaining that this is the new main event.

I have BT. I'll record it. I was gonna stay up for DC v JJ, I'm gonna be having an early night now after Aldo v Edgar, so they've maybe done me a favour after all.

Jesus H, how dare anyone question or give out about a card, the biggest card, in UFC history, losing 2 headline fights and replacing it with a guy out of the game 4 years.

If you look at it as a fight with future title implications or the like then maybe it's a bit meaningless, similar to Conor vs Nate in that regard.

But it's much more than that.

If you at it as the return of the beast with unfinished business vs a guy who does walk off ko's for fun then it's a fight I'm pumped about seeing and there will be guaranteed fireworks.

You weren't watching UFC when Brock was around so without trying to sound too patronising this is a big deal and you just don't get it.

Yep, don't get me wrong, I'm most certainly gonna watch it. It's just not got anywhere the same level of interest from me than 10 or 20 other fights I could think of, based just on watching UFC the past 2 years.

Haha nail on the head, thank you! Just the reason why you guys need to accept me not loving this new main! Simples!

I'm not having a go at you or anything like that, I'm just saying that although the big fight has been pulled, it's still a great card and I'd imagine it won't put too many people off tuning in for it. You've every right to be dissapointed as I said previously, but to say you don't accept it (which you've reworded, fair enough) was the only thing I was really calling you out on, because it didn't make a lot of sense to me.

Gutted for Cormier first off. Losing a ton of money and a chance of avenging his only defeat. I'd say he couldn't believe how fans were cheering Jones at the press conferences. A guy who hit and run a pregnant woman was more popular than him. Madness.

If given the chance to go back to the unstoppable press conf and change my actions I would still boo DC because he's a dcik!

Nail on the head. It's very hard to appreciate the magnitude of this fight if:

    1. You weren't around for Brock's first UFC run.
    Or
    2. You're not a pro-wrestling fan.

For anyone else, it's pretty huge I think. As I said ages ago in this thread, and as big of a fan of Jones and Cormier as I am, Lesnar was always going to be my personal main event for this card, wherever he was on the billing.

I actually think it won't affect sales much, its still a stacked card and with Brock on main now it will still do well, the only slight issue i would have would be previously it was nice to look forward to an important competitive fight as the main, there is a chance the new main is a total bust as Brock hasn't fought in ages.

    I'll be buzzing for it.

I never liked WWE, but I thought Brock was fantastic when he arrived in MMA. Proper doesn't-give-a-sh*t attitude. Arrogant hoore in victory, humble in defeat. Plus I always felt that he had enormous potential and it was just a crying shame that MMA wasn't at the stage where he could have gone into it from college instead of wrestling.

I absolutely love the start of the second round against Carwin at 116. Shane had just punched himself out in the first round and Brock survived. As the ref asked each fighter at the start of the round if they were ready, Carwin looked spent while Brock just smiled at him.

Amazing fight (and card). Leben vs Akiyama was incredible in the co-main, then Lesnar vs Carwin.

Yeah he sure looked like an animal and the Mir fight seemed a right laugh. Hope this lives up to the new billing.

LOL at people suggesting its not worth watching now gtfo its a quality card from start to finish I'd stay up till 5 to watch the prelims ffs,

If Jones is guilty of using ped's his legacy is ruined same with Anderson my opinion of them will amount to very little, again like all sports where the stakes are high and you need every advantage its not too much of a surprise considering all the powerlifting stuff hes been doing god knows what his pals had him on to be making them crazy heavy lifts,

I Hope he comes clean today if its true,Usada should release the info of the fail potential fail only creates more speculation.

Second Mir fight and the Carwin fight were the 2 times I saw him in the flesh.

Loved both events. Bisping laid out stiff by Hendo followed by the salty disbelief of the crowd when Brock pounded Mir into mush.

Possibly my favourite card of all time. Whenever anyone asks me about class UFC cards to go back and watch, this is the one that always springs to mind!

Any word on what fight is getting bumped onto the main card?

Suppose they have to make sure DC doesn't get a new opponent first.

TJ vs Assuncao would be my selection.

Funny thing is, probably the best event I've been to apart those 2 Vegas ones was the infamous UFC 95 in London.

The most maligned and bitched about event ever until it actually went down.

I was really looking forward to DC - Jones, I was hoping for a DC win but not expecting one.

I'll happily watch Edgar - Aldo to see what Conor is up against, I like Tate so I'll watch that too. They don't really excite me though.

Lesnar - Hunt makes me giddy. Lesnar is an absolute beast and he's the reason I started following MMA in the first place. Hunt is a seriously dangerous opponent for anyone. It's the most exciting fight left on the card for me and is the obvious choice for main event. I can understand the 3 rounds too, it's a fight that was made on short(ish) notice already so it'd be a bit much to expect them to be fit for 5 rounds. Not that it's likely to go the distance anyway.
