It's a Scorpio Ridecore, I got it from the states about 18 months ago, fairly accurate but expensive, has an alarm and proximity sensor as well.

Haven't decided if I'm going to take it further yet, needless to say I didn't pay and he didn't ask.

Looked at that before - does it take a SIM card or do you have to use their data plan?

Its their own data plan, it works out about 130 Euro for the year.

Jaysus that's Mad money , would only be worth it if it has cell tower triangulation as back up to gps, if not its a pure waste of money.

Definitely worth following up on. If they did it on yours, I'd bet they do it on other bikes too. Nasty thing to do.

Definitely don't name names on boards.ie but do let the Gardai know. I'm sure the Gardai would love to pay a visit and have a chat to them.

I've seen a post, on Facebook, from the chap in Walkinstown, making it clear it was not him and nothing to do with him.

Ya see thats the thing, cockiness and thinking you can do what you like comes naturally to "members" of a certain organization so going to the Gardai would be a waste of time ;)

I've had it happen in the car with valeting -- dropped in a fairly nice/fast car, came back with 20km on the clock. I always zero the trip counter dropping it in. That was a fun conversation, and my car had never been cleaner as a result.

today i attempted to install the restrictor.
    390770.JPG

So covers off, seat off, tank up, airbox out,
    390766.JPG

    390767.JPG

attempted to get the throttle bodies out but thought there surely must be a better way of getting to where the restrictor goes.. sure enough I could have reached it without even taking the seat off.
    390768.JPG

Turns out the previous owner didn't replace the screw which must have held in their previous restrictor so I need to get one of those tomorrow. (this is one from a different spot on the bike which is the right size, which is handy for finding a new one)
    390769.JPG

Noticed a bolt missing on one side of the radiator too so I'll get one of those soon. And then in general everything else is in the right place. The air filter was pretty clean so no need for a replacement for a while yet either.

General health of hoses and stuff is pretty good, nothing perished. A few clips are a bit worse for wear but not in need of being replaced this time around. the PAIR system (aka spitting flames to reduce emissions) hasn't been completely removed it seems so I might try either put that back in place or do a full delete.

There's also an immobiliser.. a Meta system. No idea on which version but I don't have a fob for it only a 17 digit number on a barcode on it, which apparently can't be used to get new fobs made so I'm out of luck on that front, just doing a quick look it's 180 euro for an "upgrade" for Meta stuff, for a bolt in system to use the existing loom. Considering a full new system is only 100 euro I won't be availing of that terrible offer. I asked the previous owner did he have a fob or anything for it and he said it had been disconnected before he bought it. The fact that the light still flashes when you turn the ignition off means that it is definitely still connected.. just disarmed.

Stuff which I'll be doing soon enough will be a rebuild on the front and rear brake calipers when I've put a bit of wear on the current pads, as well as a full fluid flush. There are a few of the plastic fasteners which are in bad shape so new ones of those. New reg plate light..
and re-covering the seat, there's what looks like a cigarette burn on it which I've temporarily put tape over.

Other than that it's not so bad. In the distant but not too distant future I'll do valve clearances since it's not too far away from the 30k mile big service. I must pull the spark plugs at some stage just to check on general health but that can wait till I actually get to ride the ****ing thing :D

Looks the part alright a must have, shame its black on the silver fairing but if it works then happy days.

How much was it and did you get it from the states or the UK?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,344 ✭✭✭Skill Magill

It worked out cheaper by getting it from megabikes, they ordered it for me, came to about €69 , I think. I used a flash for the photo, the contrast isn't so stark in real life and I think it looks well. I've already scattered a few pedestrians :)

100 quid for the full ocd clean and acf 50

When I wash the bike I give it the acf 50 going over. So at least once a fortnight it gets cleaned and a coating of acf 50. I don't see why paying for a cleaner to apply acf 50 is worth the money unless you don't plan on cleaning your bike for the winter?

I need more acf 50. Has anyone deviated from the €20 spray can of the stuff to an atomizer etc? Any better?

I have a large bottle of it, being an owner of two beemers, its needed :D

Just picked up a "Parkside" paint gun in Lidl there last week for 25 euro and going to use that to atomize it.

I take it thats a thicker oil for the forks? Whats the reason for the change?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,923 ✭✭✭Wossack

tis lighter, just recommended from a couple of forums. Folks saying they're a little hard stock, so some went 7.5. Needed a change for a long time, and the stuff that came out... by god.. looked like it was contaminated with water somehow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,670 ✭✭✭✭CJhaughey

Which brand of 7.5w oil did you use?
The reason I ask is that fork oils are notoriously strange for viscosity readings.
    Interesting reading in this link.
